Thanks for the great video. You made each step clear, and I could make the splice almost as fast as you did! (Almost)

I use 7/64th Amsteel for all of my hammock suspension

I'm sorry to hear that. Please take note that this is meant for 7/64th Amsteel as that is the standard for hammock suspension. Feel free to email me at contact@hanginghighhammocks.com with any other questions.

I'm hugely appreciative of your instructionals. Thanks for taking the time! This is def one of the better, more concise videos I've seen on this.

You are welcome! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. Hopefully you are able to make some whoopies that you can be proud of when you hang your hammock! Until next time... Get Hanging

Great tutorial! If you were going to attach the whoopie directly into the gathered end (not using a closed loop), would you want to start your whoopie further from the brummel loop?

You could leave it longer. Instead of doing 8 inches you could do 10 to 12 inches. It is mainly up to you. However, using it directly into the gathered in of the hammock doesn't take too much length! Thanks for your questions have a great day and Get Hanging!

What size needle would you use for 1/8" line? Is it the same technique for Dyneema? Are Dyneema and Amsteel the same thing with different trade names?

Honestly, I have never worked with 1/8" amsteel but may just need a size bigger to make the hole larger.
For amsteel versus dyneema, I believe Samson purchases dyneema and then braids it into their own line, Amsteelblue. Amsteelblue is what I and most people use for their suspension, and it comes in any of the 7 color options.
