  • this pioneer 1500TD is high performance receiver. Its blue light makes it extraordinarily rich when turned on.... the issue with this unit was liquid damage that was affecting the right channel...let's see if I can bring the right channel back...

I've fixed and rebuilt over 20 of these. The tape monitor switch and pre/main coupler switch sometimes cause issues. Check the fuses on the main amp board.
Smoke is sometimes from the power supply or drivers giving out.
The main amp has to come out to be serviced.
The B+ & Center Voltage adjustment pots will open and blow the ouputs.
It also looks like someone did a partial restoration on the amp board.
You were lucky on this one!

That looks familiar.....glad it didn't pop while I had it at my place. New shop looks good, from what I can see in the video.....maybe give us a short tour in the next video.

Change the 50 ohm bias trimmers even if they measure good. (Usually around 30 ohms.) These are a weak spot and I've seen far two many of this era of Pioneer go bad to take a chance. (2 of 3 1500TD's I've worked on had this condition as well as 2 990's, a 770, and a 2500.)
I kept the 2500. Nice units.

Good morning to all. Novice here, I have an amplifier purchased with a dead channel. Opened it up and most caps were visibly blown as well as signs of heat on the board. I decided to fully recap it. First full recap for me. Good news is that both channels are now working but the side that was dead is now putting out DC voltage. I can tell because even though that side plays the woofer cone to the speaker connected to that channel is pulled in or the opposite of excursion if there is a word for that. Is there a primary cause for DC current at the speaker leads? Thank you in advance.
