This amplifier is pushing more watts than predicted. After looking after the power switch, this amp came to life. Technics were known for their turntables but I'm impressed with this amp. Keep a close eye on the top cover for burnt spots and the 47uf capacitors. This was a fun project, and I think this amp is worth getting ... see my video and find out how I check the bias etc... #technicsamp, ...

this 80 watts per channel amplifier is easy enough to work on, I love the sound that this pioneer releases, be careful with the 1200uf capacitors. They hold 40 volts so you will need to discharge them before you can work in this amp... I hope you enjoy this video...

Great presentation! More details please. You could say that you fix everything in a flash while standing, but I know that to do it properly, you need a lot of time and patience. These are beautiful HiFi classics, renovated, they look beautiful in every home, and I have a lot of them and I spend the most time among my electronic "toys" and it will stay that way. Best regards👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I used to "simulate" STKs with success using discrete components back in 1990. First off, carefully break it, then using a metallurgical microscope to identify components, then make a copy of the internal pcb pattern. Used to love the way internal transistors looked like. Years later did the same thing trying to replace STRs using discrete components but to no avail.

I have the Yamaha CR2020 which I purchased new in 1978. Eighteen months ago I had it completely recapped and gone over. Replaced bulbs with LED's. $900 later and she sings better than new at 110wpc. There are rebuild kits for these. This unit may sound 'good' but I guaranty there's some weak components in there that should be replaced.

Hi Joe, maybe you can help me as I can find no other persons or information on the net than answer my question. I have an SX828 with a bad power board AWR010 B, I purchased a replacement on Ebay which upon receipt showed it to be AWR010 A. The B style board (the original) has a terminal post 24 which has a red and white lead coming from capacitor 8. The A Style board does not have a terminal post 24. The service manual and addendums make no mention of different board options. Matter of fact the service manual shows style A with the red and white lead from capacitor 8 going to terminal post 9 on the board. I would assume I could just wire as shown in the service manual and be okay but I don't understand the difference between the two boards and if using the A board instead of a B board will damage the unit. Love the channel and hope you will be around for a very long time. Thanks.

I repair various electronics,, was never much of an audio guy until was was asked to do a total upgrade on a Marantz 2270. Since then, I've been asked to repair a few receivers. Sometimes I am successful & sometimes not as I am still learning audio devices. I discovered your channel while researching audio repair & really enjoy watching you do repairs. Currently I am trying to repair a Pioneer VSX-40, a horror to disassemble. It was not powering on. I found the front right channel was blown, replaced both transistors and 4 bad resistors. It powered on & I thought I was home free. Nope. No audio. I'm still trying to find that fault, I suspect it may be the 80 pin audio IC & am waiting for a replacement to arrive. I saw someone do a video with a similar receiver, similar fault and it was a bad audio IC. I tried putting a signal into the IC but didn't get an output. BTW I was able to purchase that power switch for $10 last year. It's a little bit more now & I'm not sure about shipping costs to your location, but this is the link : www.ebay.com/itm/125965051636 ☘Happy New Year☘
