    I've been a subscriber/fan for several years but today I realized that I've developed an admiration for your efficiency. It reminded me of when I had a printing business and through the years some printers rushed around but didn't get much done while some moved ever so slowly but the most efficient printers didn't waste motion or energy and at the end of the day their production was admirable. I'm looking forward to the next video of your next project.

      It is called a 4 in 1 bucket. I used to be a plant operator in ye olde days (1990's) and we used Drotts for all house / building pads / roads etc. They used a 4 in 1 bucket. They allowed us to level and grade a pad within a 10 mm tolerance (with a laser receiver attached to the cab).

    Good call on the Geo tech, especially since there's going to be trucks driving on it. Your clay is much worse than ours is here in Idaho and if we don't dig it down to gravel we have to use Geo tech or the clay will just pump up through the gravel then you just end up with a mess again and have to do it all over again.

    • @technicalitems731
      @technicalitems731 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clyde Acor hey. What certain version of geotech cloth do you prefer for this application? Exact name of product? Price? I’ve use cloth before but it’s been a while. I usually cut the grass and topsoil out and I’ll back in with base gravel but...some places pump. Thanks!

    • @clydeacor1911
      @clydeacor1911 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@technicalitems731 I like to use the felt like cloth but a lot of customers often opt for the cheaper plastic. I don't have a particular brad that I use, I just use what's available at the time from my supplier. And I've paid anywhere from $150-$425 per roll depending on what it is and what the project calls for.

    We went away from cat skid steers, all though I loved the ride and the noise level. We went to kabota 95s. We have 4 of them. Getting tired of the service now with the factory and local dealer. Almost time for another change. Looking for smooth operating joystick control can machine.

    • @technicalitems731
      @technicalitems731 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jake Wright I bought a Cat 268b brand new. Loaded with cab, heat and a/c, hi flow and all options. Added a Loegering VTS track system. I guess it was around year 2006 or 2007? Owner operator. I have ran it in a professional, serious manner. I run it with 3 point turns and well thought out precise movements. I’ve never had much trouble with it besides a hose or 2, a belt, and now oil cooler needs o rings. Of course the cab is smaller than new models, side windows are sealed perfectly, and having a hinge door sucks..... I have had to replace some bearing assemblies, a rear roller, and a torsion on the VTS system. And 3 sets of rubber tracks at least. I’m in mountain area with clay and occasional granite. I had to replace one chain inside the box between axles because I didn’t know to tension the chain with maintenance at certain intervals. No big deal. The VTS system getting so much traction puts greater stress on chains. The VTS option was expensive but man does it back up hill, rides like a dream, pivots like a 299, and stabilized the machine with its wide long stance. I also get more ground clearance. And it’s easy to shovel the mud out from the tracks. The sprockets ate big and turn less revolutions. Speaking of...I’m about due for new sprockets. One advantage is I can take the VTS system off and run tires on jobs that would be more suitable. I can also remove the VTS system to work on them and Put on tires and keep making money with machine while doing the repairs! I bet I’ve got 1700 hours or 1300. Somewhere in the middle as the hour meter messed up and was not noticed by my father when I went to work out of town a a year or two after the collapse of 2008. I’m happy with it. I’ve bought and resold other machines on eBay and such...and from messing with other brands I’d say I’d pick Kubota or Takeuchi. I love the ride Cat has and the beefy new undercarriage. I like the dealer and parts availability of Cat. Back when my machine was new the Cat had the best joystick control. And the potential resell. But if I knew I had a good dealer and I had employees sitting in the seat and my own personal spine wasn’t taking the beating I’d go with a Tak or Kubota.... it’s just that I can’t stand the dang tractor dealer mentality for Kubota. Tak dealers can be a little flaky. Or in my area anyways.... I also wonder why Kubota and Tak don’t offer a walking suspension for their machines like the larger cat dozer offer or like the 299 cat.... it’s the only thing they are missing. The Pivoting roller frames would help the traction and ride. I really like the sliding up and down door of the Tak or Kubota and wide cab. I see a few Yanmar CTL machines online and wonder if it’s made by Tak or somebody? I like Yanmar mini excavators. But when adding a cab and features it spoils you when owning a Cat brand machine. It would be cool to see Yanmar offer a house brand CTL machine to match the Kubota and Tak. Maybe Tak is offering a machine to match them and I haven’t been aware of it?

    Not shortchanging the skill of the man driving it one bit, but that Takeuchi seems like it's a sweet machine.I don't operate this gear so I couldn't tell you how it's doing is better or worse than 15 other equivalent manufacturers but it seems pretty sweet.

      Length x width x depth =Cubic yards and covert to weight of material per ton.

    can someone tell me what a job like this "should" cost? I need exactly this type of work for my driveway. my driveway is the same length as his too.

      Probably around 7,000$ give or take a little...depending on how far you have to truck the stone, etc.

    What type of gravel is that?

      My question too.
      It seems to as it gives a nice smooth and compact surface.

      Looks like Base gravel to me. Granite sand mixed with 57 size or smaller stone. They use it to roll and compact under asphalt road beds. Highway contractors typically roll and wet the gravel if setting up for asphalt highways or parking lots. Like you see on the highway expansion side lane projects. It’s not a loose washed Stone. You don’t want washed gravel because it rolls around loose like marbles and the open voids allow dirt and mud from underneath to creep up through to surface. Freezing also pulls organic material from the sub grade up to top of gravel. Washed gravel would also allow water to pass through down to dirt causing sub grade to hold water. Base gravel packs tight and forces water to shed off of the top layer of driveway. Most people get the base gravel properly graded and packed tight like in this gravel and for extra money and “bling” spreads a thin layer of washed stone on the top to simply make it pretty and to assist in keeping your shoes free of sand and grit. Like icing on a cake. For this video I suspect the customer needs to use the driveway for some period of time and pack it down even further with his big truck and call Chris to come back and smooth out the ruts. Naked Gravel drives are a never ending scraping maintenance but the most cost effective. Asphalt buys you time but costs money and eventually cracks and fails.

    Good morning, can someone tell me the purpose of the fabric? I moved into a property with a 500' gravel driveway that is soft and spongy everywhere, it seems like mud and clay is pumping up through the gravel. I added 100 tons of 3/4 clean 2 years ago and it was fine for awhile but now it's back to the way it was??

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim Crosby the fabric acts as barrier to keep the clay and mud coming up through the rock. The fabric actually lets you bridge over the clay and stuff and allows the rock to stay put in the driveway

      Elite Earthworks LLC Thanks Neighbor....I live just north of you near Harrisonville, I appreciate the reply, do I need to remove the existing gravel then apply fabric then put the gravel back or just lay down fabric and apply new gravel such as 3" minus?

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim Crosby that’s cool your not to far from me. You could remove some of the gravel if you want to save of it. Lay the fabric the put it down first then you could top coat if you want. Or if it’s not a huge deal or you have to worry about height you could lay the fabric on the rock then add more on top of the fabric. It will definitely make a good base. Thanks again

    The camera position on the skid steer sucks, just love looking at the dirt or raised bucket, but I love watching your videos.
