I once made a really, and I mean really high lift to mass ratio plane, after I flew around for a bit I landed on the side of the highest mountain near KSP at a really high angle with near zero amount of fuel left... and it started rolling UP the mountain, without any propulsion. So apearently if you have enough lift to weight you can convert the slightest bit of movement into more vertical movement while keeping the plane on the face of the mountain, then more and more untill you leave the tip of the mountain at a speed high enough to get you halfway to KSP. Kerbal physics are amazing..
There exists a UFO design comprised of a (wathever) between 2 large unfolding heat shields, wich has *ungodly* amounts of upwards force, in fact, I modified it a bit, strapped some ion engines, and *they almost had the power for a liftoff on their own*
I like how Danny tends to sidetrack from one idea to another. First it's melting fairings, then he tried to crush Kerbals, then made a rocket pogo and finally experimented with Kerbals hanging onto something while spinning.
