The blue capacitor is tantalum capacitor, it will not leak but it has an other mode of failure: getting in short circuit, sometimes it will even burn out and release the magic smoke. This catastrophic scenario is not too likely to happen with a 2 button cells power source however, but it is more an issue when these caps are used in devices with a strong power supply as vintage computers, lab equipment, etc.
Hi, I really enjoy your videos. I have a Minolta SRT 101 and the advance lever was stuck but I was able to free it, at first the timer was stuck at 45 degrees but once I freed the advance lever it fixed that problem, except the camera won’t fire without a roll of film inside it, it’s very old. I got it from my uncle who got it in 72, but never used it. The battery had leaked and corroded the battery compartment. Long story long, may I send it to you for a full repair? Please let me know if that is possible. Thnk you.
Great videos. I appreciate the help and expertise from you. Would you mind telling me where you got the tweezers you use and the make? I have smaller watch making tweezers but can’t seem to find a good larger size like yours. Thank you.
@@richardazar22 Thank you. I’ve purchased these tweezers in the past and was happy with the quality. www.wpiinc.com/504616-student-tweezer-kit-swiss-made.html
Thanks so much for this video. I have two X700 bodies with the same exact issue you mentioned at around 17min mark? Do you happen to fix that as part of the CLA procedure? Do you accept repairs from EU? Also any chance you could share if the equivalent light cells are available to purchase?
@@kyshark1 Hello and thank you. I’m assuming you’re referring to the film counter being stuck at ‘17’, if so then yes we do repair this problem. As far aa international service is concerned, we accept cameras from Canada. We can also accept repairs from EU, but anticipate return shipping to be expensive.
@@GarrysCameraRepair sorry I should check timestamps properly. I meant the light meter issue where I only get the under exposure arrow blinking no matter what shutter speed or f stop I select.
@@GarrysCameraRepair okay I need to figure out a way to send it to you without the hassle of taxes and custom duties! Do you know if the light meter modules are available to buy?
Great video, thanks Garry! Going to watch the other two next
Awesome, thank you!
Very interesting video.

@@kyshark1 It can in fact be the light sensor. We can take a look at it for you.
