I'm so glad that I was recommended your channel. I am the eternal advocate of Dune in my friend group. Once the next movie is released I would absolutely adore a version or a "special" edition with pieces that were more than just cardboard. In fact I'm thinking about building or printing my own pieces to make the game look as epic as it plays (although the base game is certainly good looking).
When I'm feeling cheeky, I like to call it Dune: AGOCAD. That aside, Conquest continues to surprise me with how much I enjoy it despite being a die hard Classic Dune fan. There really are reasons to enjoy both, rather than one over the other.
I really love the streamlined Dune: Conquest!!! I just wish we have a version with the classic art and all the expansions. Not really a big fan of film stills on board games although I love Villeneuve's movie so much.
I'll have to give Dune: Conquest a shot. I love the idea of a two-player "double faction" setup, I may need to house-rule that for when I play Classic Dune with my partner. She hasn't seen the movie yet, and she's a graphic artist, which means she wants to get records of her mental picture of the characters from the book before seeing Villeneuve's film, so that try-out will be on hold for a bit. I will say that I've sprung classic Dune on a few not-designer-boardgame people and (so far) everyone has liked the experience and asked about getting it. Classic Dune is kinda this weird freak of nature game where you get as much political intrigue as Twilight Imperium in a package that makes sense to regular people. I've also started setting up Dune with friends after dinner, and we got -two- games in! I guess my experiences are outliers. As an aside, what resources do you recommend for someone wanting to learn board game design? Thanks so much for your time and effort, both working on Classic Dune, and putting this channel together. It's tremendously helpful, both as a player and as someone who wants to learn the "why" behind what trade-offs happen when designing games.

Is there a way to play Dune Conquest with the classic Dune pieces? I like the idea but am not a fan of the look of Dune Conquest.
@@devinbaird2470 not really. Conquest has a Market deck and a Battle deck. Dune has neither.
