As someone who is deep in the hobby but has a game group mostly made up of non-board gamers, Dune Conquest is a perfect way for me to get my Classic Dune “fix” whilst not overwhelming my friends with too many complex rules. I think expansion ideas that would be easy enough for newer gamers to grasp once having played the base game a handful of times but that wouldn’t push the boundaries too far to the complex side would be: 5th/6th player (assuming they introduce enough characters in the new movie to make that viable), adding a board overlay (ie. dune imperium: rise of ix style) to cover up the existing round track increasing the number from 5 rounds to 8 rounds (for those willing to play a slightly longer game since the base game doesn’t take very long to begin with), a few new battle and market cards and alliance’s. I think the alliances could be done in a simple enough way to where you gain either a one time benefit once joining the alliance (ie. when you join an alliance with Harkonnen, draw the top 3 cards from the traitor deck, keep one and put the others on the bottom of the deck.) or you get a simple to manage ongoing benefit (ie. while your in an alliance with the imperium, you may pay 1 spice per market card instead of 2) whilst still having the added win condition of controlling 4 out of 5 strongholds as a team. Just ideas from someone who is loving Dune Conquest for its accessibility but knows my group will probably not reach the level of being able to regularly get out Classic Dune. :)
I like the new set up Market cards and battle cards. I would house rule that all basic attacks defenses and worthless cards are shuffled and given the first round. Just 2 per player and then the rest is sold as usual in normal dune fashion, hand size max 4 as usual.
“Prescience: Before the battle plans are created you get to see one part of your opponent’s battle plan.” I think this wording is a bit confusing. Logically how can one see part of a battle plan that does not exist yet? If I understand it correctly I would reword it as: “Before the battle plans are created you get to indicate one part of your opponent’s battle plan you would like to see.” I think the intensions here are that: a) you want the Atreides and their opponent to be able to react and readjust their intended battle plan based on the revealed information and the question. b) since in movie dune we now have specific slots for weapon and defense on the wheel, Atreides could look at “created battle plan” (before it is revealed) and know if the opponent is using a weapon or a defense before they use prescience, such that Atreides would likely never ask to see a slot that’s not occupied. Is this correct?
Part of the issue is that the Battle Cards are a blessing and a curse. It's nice to always go into the Battle phase with 4 Battle Cards, but Atreides no longer has the mostly exclusive card knowledge. So, prescience has a little less impact. Also, the prescience does nothing to account for Market Cards that can affect the battle, like Poison Tooth, The Way, and Counter-Attack.
Hi! What are your thoughts on Freeman alliance ability from classic dune(2019)? I have heard some opinions, that their alliance ability is kinda weak and should be buffed. Should it be?

The very definition of prescience is seeing something that does not yet exist.
I do wonder if the Atreides win the least because they are harder to use well rather than weak.

I have buffed it a little in my Dune Abomination nod.
