What I do is meditate first thing in the morning and that allows me to go throughout my day with awareness. I observe my thoughts and then I have more control over my state. Great video Brendon.
What I do to overcome overwhelm on a daily basis is to wake up and write out (or speak out) 3 things I am grateful for, then I meditate and go exercise. From time to time if it gets out of hand I pause and take an entire day and do nothing but rest and reset. After working 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry I know first hand NOTHING is worth trading your health and wellbeing for. Great video..
I think one of the most important thing to remember is that overwhelm is a symptom of our HABITS, not our TASKS. If we don't look at the patterns that led us there (boundaries, routines, bad habits, mindset, everything), we'll just wind up there again.
I do the first 3 things you explained but I have found that without applying the 4th recommendation it doesn't matter how well you organize your day, anxiety kicks in and my mind works more on that than actually doing the tasks I was meant to do. I also found that it's such a bad habit to feel overwhelmed; for me it was something that happened once a year and now it's a constant feeling. I don't talk about feeling overwhelm to avoid being perceived as a drama queen, but it shows on the quality of my work. Thank you for the videos. It's hard to explain how and why I feel like this and you articulate these issues very well.
Extraordinary video! Thank you so much, Brendon. I especially loved the last part where you reminded us to be calm amidst the storm, to show others we are capable of overcoming any obstacle with grace, strength, and peace.
Just when I was feeling overwhelmed your video arrived! Thanks- it was just what I needed. I had just completed a webinar and was feeling overwhelmed about all that I was going to need to do to accomplish my outcome. So after listening to your video, I realized I just needed to stop, organize, and break down all the tasks into manageable chunks. I love the tips on transitioning and saving catch up time at the end of the day. I am off to make my day productive!!
I have an important exam today and tomorrow.I'm super overwhelmed and I'd like to thank you for this video.I understood my mistakes. When I'm studying, I always try to study for both and I can't seem to concentrate because of the other fun events that will happen when everything is over. It's supposed to be my motivation but instead of that, I'm always overwhelmed and trying to do everything really quickly.I'll take the exam today and probably fail, but maybe I can work hard for tomorrow's exam.Again, thanks for this video. It helped a lot.
In my previous job I would always take about 5 minutes to plan/review what I wanted to accomplish over the next few days and what I would do first thing the next morning, before I went home the night before. That place was so chaotic I rarely had the opportunity to spend more than a 1-hour block on something before getting pulled off to go fix some crisis. A lot of the crises could have been easily avoided with a little planning and forethought by our management team. They liked to wait until the last minute then dump the problem on someone else. The environment there was so toxic very few people did any planning at all and spent 80% of their time in firefighting mode. Anytime you would make a suggestion the management would take it as a personal attack and retaliate by overloading you. Talk about overwhelming. I worked there for about 2.5 years then moved on as it was obvious no matter how hard I worked, how many extra hours (I was salary) I put in, how much I helped other people getting their projects completed, how positive I was, that the company culture was irredeemable. If I could undo those years, I would in a heartbeat.
What I've been through overwhelmed and out burned for me overwhelming is where people are pushing you wear you want to be but in reality you got to push yourself to be where you could be for me it's a lot harder I'm 19 years old I'm kind of struggling with finding a second job and it's kind of hard but in my mind if I get overwhelmed or burn out I think to myself this is all you got to push yourself too what you want to get or what do you want to do in life.
just when you think you know all the tips and stuff... you watch a video like this ☺ the 'transition' tip and 'catch up time' tips... Are both genius. Thank you Brendon ☺😍
Thanks for helping me refocus and giving me guide lines to follow thus keeping me from being overwhelmed. Good to hear you support a person having more than one passion. Why should I eat only porridge everyday when a virtual banquet sits before me.
Sometimes we forget we experience life from our conversations for and and about the occurring world we create with our words and actions ..... Awesome!!
This one was a great help! I have this major exam coming next month and I am actually quite overwhelmed with all the syllabus and subjects!! Thanks Brendon!! 👍
I get most overwhelmed in the am thx being married to an alcoholic husband and son is so hard. I feel my life is not what I want my life to be what is yr advice?
Hi mr.Brendon Thinks for every thing you done I appreciate it. What am I ask u ? Did u have a Arabic Coby for your book ? And thinks again. With love Abdulmhssin
Thanks Brendon. Never allowed myself to get overwhelmed at work.. different story with kids though. Any advice for a mom with two kids (2,5 years and 6 months old) whose husband works out of town and comes home only for weekends? I do plan the day in the morning and meditate at night when the kids are in bed but there's so much going on in-between
Hi Oello, you may also check our video on How To Deal With Overwhelm th-cam.com/video/Wj1dnwPFs5U/w-d-xo.html In this video you will discover what overwhelm is, how to recognize it when it shows up, and what not to do with it. Most importantly you’ll have 5 simple steps that you can immediately to feel relief from overwhelming.
For a police officer, planning ur day ahead of time is useless or simply not possible.....u r bound to be overwhelmed, overstretched but ever ready for anything that comes along
I am here because i am part owner of our shop. We are so extremely busy that when customers come in, i start feeling stressed and depressed. Even with a 2 months waiting period and increase in price, customers keep coming. This has gone on way to long and its starting to make me hate people. Anyone else feel this way?
Most of things mentioned in the video,I already do. Good to know that what I'm doing is right. Still need to get around saying no to people. But Sir,Thank you so much for posting these awesome selfless videos!
Many confused ideas ... and the *demeanour* shows it .... you *don't* "bring creativity" to anything. Assuming you are really quiet, and not always pushing some quirky plans (the ego's stronghold), creativity will show up ... you can never get it to come on demand. For that we have the lies of politicians and other confused nachalniks ....

I make it a point to take a small walk before work each morning. I get to work early (20-25 minutes ideally). It helps me get into work mode.
