It'd be interesting at least to have a spin off set in Russia following Retribution's Protagonist Tommy, see what exactly the Cloven are up to in the bombed out remains of the Motherland and what exactly their goals are
Lets be honest, if they were to create a Prequel game, taking place in Imperial Russia, whilst they are desperately trying to stop and hold back Chimera, it could potentially revive the franchise. The fact that they were able to hold on for so long is amazing, and suggests an incredible, badass story is yet to be told.
My favorite part about this is that they’re using Resistance:Retribution for a lot of the European war lore. It’s my favorite game and it’s how I fell in love with the franchise. I still play it on my PSP.

Is there even fighting over the throne among the family? Let's say some member in the family want to ask outside world to help. On the other hands, another want to continued fighting and keep the Chimera secret from the rest of the world. -Do Tsar is still alive or dead? If he still alive, where is he? Did he luckily escape before the fall of his empire? If he's dead, do he have any successors or who should be next on the throne? -How many family members do Tsar have in this timelines? -Where do most of Russian survivors escape to after the fall of motherland? Highest mountain somewhere near Kazakhstan where there's still secret operational base for developing secret weapons to counter Chimera? Central Asia? Or even Europe? -Where are the remaining survivors of Imperial Russian Army? Is there any operational base somewhere in Russia or even outside Russia? (Let's say in Antarctica) -What kind of basic infantry weapons do they use to fought Chimera? Do there technology and weapons at the same technological level as the West? Did Tsar contact them and asking for help in first place or US contact them first in favor to stop Chimera spreading? -What's that object that crash in Siberia? A ship? Capsules? Spire missile? (I still cannot imagine how's that worm armor looking creature that were kept in SPRA tube class storage and fossil found in Resistance 3 is Pure Chimera) -Did Malikov ever found any Grey Tech artifact in Russia? -Why didn't Tsar asking help from the West in first place? (SPRA already knew it's too late to save Russia so that's why they only pick up a few important survivors like Malikov) -Is there any more Russian scientists that have survive? -What will happen next after Chimera has been defeated in Russia? How will Russia move foward? Will they change themselves to be more like modern Russia Federation(democracy) or something else? -How would people around the world feel about Russia from now on? Will they still want to blame Russia for failing to stop Chimera/not telling entire world about Chimera existence in first place? -And most importantly, what is that loop broadcasting anyway? About the Angry Night. -Where is James Grayson now? Will he join up with Russian resistance to travel through Siberia to find the source of Chimera invasion? Exactly and the form of invasion an Alien Virus is actually pretty efficient and effective not to mention smart. Of course Dr. Malikov was able to surmise in his journals in Resistance 3 if the Chimera were as advanced as they seemed to be, at least their progenitors or pure Chimera why would they use such an primitive method which spoke of desperation of some kind which we can only speculate.
Honestly, as much as I like Resistance, they wrote themselves into a corner in Resistance 3. How much sense did that destroying the tower of New York, destroyed all towers around the world?
@@gregorforrest5402 Yeah, that I understand. But, how is that the most important node in the planet, was also exactly located in what later would become the most famous and important human city on the surface of the world?
I suggest the Mandalorian War. Out of all of Starwars Legends, I believe it was one of the closest wars, even compared to the later Jedi Civil War and War with the Sith Empire that the republic came to defeat. Only the Empire of Zakuul surpassed it, and there is a lack of information on that war.
@@mistersmiley9425 I don't think so. A treaty was signed after the sacking of courscant, but that was basically all in and desperate attack with the express end goal of forcing a better deal for the Sith Empire at the treaty of courscant. This the war in The Old Republic. Officially the war is...weird but ongoing.
I mean the war during 2500ish BBY is basically the second Great Hyperspace War, but I agree the Mandalorian War was very devastating to the Republic but only to the Outer and Mid-Rim worlds.
I really wish they would bring this series back. I always believed that the game play and story stood up to the halo series, but unfortunately it was left behind in history.
Actually the last organized military action conducted against the Chimera that we know about wasn’t Operation Black Eden, the destruction of the Chimeran Fleet over the Chicxulub Crater in Mexico. It was The Assault On The New York Tower which took place just eight days after Operation Black Eden. It was the last major military action the US Armed Forces made that ended in a massacre and the end of Chimera Invasion of the United States.
I like how this says German Panzer division's could not deal with them. But the German tank divisions were not what they were later on in the war because they mostly had Panzer 2s which were only equipped with machine guns so of course the German army could not deal with a heavily mechanised force
They really nailed a solid story with resistance as a release title, I remember being really interested by what was going on when playing it first time.
The story, the sense of scale, the details. Resistance could easily be adapted on the big screen, hopefully as big budget movies. Praying for a PC Port in the future, it's been 11 years...
So glad to see Resistance getting some love. This series was my high school love, and I'm still fond of it today (despite recognizing its flaws; mainly how derivative it is of other sci-fi games around the time). R3 had the weakest story, though. It deserved the ending that CoD Ghosts' Extinction campaign had.
Many did not appreciate the ending of the trilogy, but the Resistance saga also explores that side of war that many science fiction works omit, namely that war is not a game, it is a massacre.
I still remember first getting my PS3 for my birthday and watching my dad play Resistance: Fall of Man and being so engrossed by the world and it's lore. I'll never forget Nathan Hale.
i... damn i think this was one of the first fictional wars i've seen where... we genuinely got annihilated. where we got screwed so hard there is no recovering from it any time soon.... and i am not sure how to feel about that....

The Russia empire woke the up because they investigated a Meteor that reveal where they were resting. Then the rest is history.
Incorrect. The chimera were said to have colonized earth several million years ago (several thousands perhaps, according to daedalus' account of "what you took from us"), they did fight a war with a far superior civilization and lost, they were forced to leave earth but in a hurry (evident by the towers being burried underground and pure chimeran fossils being found) and eventually rebuilt their home and tried to take earth back.

I never liked the end of Resistance 2 and the plot it set for Resistance 3. I mean, you save UK, thry launch an attack on France, win there, push to the east europe as far as the russian border finding some pockets of resistance, go on destroying towers, then... well the US fell and the world ended... the offensive in europe didn't put a strain on the chimera, their resources and effort to build their fleets, it was plausable, but kind turned useless you effort in the game. I think that ending could've worked better, but it seemed like they wrote as they went they didn't had it planned. Then came resistance 3 and they found themselfs corneredin the setting and plot, I liked the end, but it was a final point, the epicness of the universe was kind lost (for me at least).
I like how the Chimera counterattack, that made the story more interesting and even realistic. However, I agree I would have prefered the story of Resistance 3 being different. I wanted a military offensive to the heart of Russia to discover the origin of the Chimera. Perhaps the wormhole should have opened there instead of New York.
Resistance needs to be remastered. who remembers Resistance 2 co-op damn that shit was fun till the server went down. still have my old PS3 with my level 30 Spec-Ops.
It's not an Osprey. In the world of Resistance, there exist two VTOL aircraft used by the US military: the UH-17 Atlas, and the U/AV-17 Hawk. As for the "Abrams", it's probably *supposed* some version of the M-12 Sabertooth with additional armor and other bits that may give it a somewhat Abrams-ish appearance. Though I will admit it's probably an oversight on the part of the artist. The Sabre jets, however, are exactly what they're supposed to be.

-Is there any civil war/uprising(overthrown him) when Tsar fail to stop Chimera?(people try to escape and flee to the West or nearest borders like China/Japan/Europe/Alaska/Central Asia rather than being kill by Angry Night)
-Do Tsar have any successors for the throne?
(Let's say in Antarctica)
-What kind of basic infantry weapons do they use to fought Chimera? Do there technology and weapons at the same technological level as the West? I'm not just talking about tank, aircraft, assault rifle, sniper rifle, shotgun, pistol, rpg, and etc. I can imagine something Soviet Sci-Fi looking guns. For example:
1.) Pistol/Machine Pistol = Base from TT33 Tokarev with 20 rounds magazine
2.) Assault Rifle = A fictional SVT40/AK47 chambered in 7.62x54mm with 30 rounds magazine including GP25 Grenade Launcher
3.) Light Machine Gun = A mix between RPD/PKM/DPM chambered in 7.62x54mm with 150 rounds drum magazine
4.) Sniper Rifle = A mix between Mosin Nagant and PTRS41 chambered in 14.5x114mm with 6 rounds magazine
5.) Carbine = Bullpup assault rifle base from TKB experimental assault rifle chambered in 7.62x54mm with 30 rounds magazine use by Royal Imperial Spetsnaz Unit(RISU for short)
6.) Fully Automatic Assault Shotgun = Based from PPSH41 using 12 guage buckshot with 20 rounds drum magazine
7.) RPG = A fictional RPG-7 that fire 2 rockets with the same ability as LAARK
8.) Flamethrower = A fictional flamethrower with under barrel napalm grenade launcher
9.) Tesla Electric Gun = Similar to Chimera Atomizer
10.) Main Battle Tank = Similar to C&C Red Alert Mammoth Tank
11.) Attack/Transport Helicopter = Similar to Mi-24 Hind with two variants: Gunship/Transport Heli
-How long did US knew about Chimera in first place? Did Tsar contact them and asking for help in first place or US contact them first in favor to stop Chimera spreading?
-What's that object that crash in Siberia? A ship? Capsules? Spire missile? Why Siberia is so much important to Chimera?
-How did Malikov get the Pure Chimera DNA from anyway? Did he just travel all the way to Siberia to get it? And how do Pure Chimera exactly looks like? (I still cannot imagine how's that worm armor looking creature that were kept in SPRA tube class storage and fossil found in Resistance 3 is Pure Chimera)
-Did Malikov ever found any Grey Tech artifact in Russia?
-Why didn't Tsar asking help from the West in first place? Did he became paranoid of US betrayal? (SPRA already knew it's too late to save Russia so that's why they only pick up a few important survivors like Malikov)
-Is there any more Russian scientists that have survive?
-What will happen next after Chimera has been defeated in Russia? How will Russia move foward? Will they change themselves to be more like modern Russia Federation(democracy) or something else?
-How would people around the world feel about Russia from now on? Will they still want to blame Russia for failing to stop Chimera/not telling entire world about Chimera existence in first place?
-And most importantly, what is that loop broadcasting anyway? About the Angry Night.
-Where is James Grayson now? Will he join up with Russian resistance to travel through Siberia to find the source of Chimera invasion? (I hope this would be the final chapter of Resistance)
James: I'm going to end this war once and for all.
Russian Resistance: URAAAA!!!!!
James: Next stop Siberia.

I know. But I just want another game and wanted to see what was happening inside Russia during before and fall of motherland. I want to see more backstory about Malikov and Tsar Michael.

Ah Resistance, it has been forever. Such a great series that could have had spinoffs diving deeper into the war like in other places.
This is the most realistic depiction of a extraterrestrial invasion since H. G Wells War of the Worlds
Yup
Independence day opted otherwise
In the sense that the alien actually win.
It makes sense when you are a bad writer and you want to move on to another story.
Usual Alien idea, destroy the mothership and they all die

A new Resistance with the today's standards in gaming would be my dream. Fucking loved the game series and the lore behind them!!
There is so much lore that couod be done with this series. We need more.
But the Republic actually did lose to the Sith Empire?
@@mistersmiley9425
I don't think so. A treaty was signed after the sacking of courscant, but that was basically all in and desperate attack with the express end goal of forcing a better deal for the Sith Empire at the treaty of courscant. This the war in The Old Republic.
Officially the war is...weird but ongoing.
@@ungooy The war ended with a victory for the Sith Empire. What happened after was a pseudo cold war
A true cosmic horror ending idea: "The Chimera weren't the real enemy...they were the weapon to fight them...and THEY are coming!"
In this universe the Bundeswehr was using Panther V's.
This franchise needs to come back. It's the only one I can think of, where despite all your efforts, you still lose in the end.
Yeah it's realistic
This alternate WWII is terrifying
Can you hear them? They're calling to us... it's beautiful.
*This is only the beginning...*
We need an HD update and re-release of the Resistance trilogy.
So. The chimera, the bad guys, have won.
This is beautiful.

I played a few of their titles over the years, tried a few recently but honestly found the game play a bit too clunky to play. I had been playing some fast paced games at the time. However, these games are very old and that’s not to say they don’t deserve a remaster of some kind. For their time they were great! The lore is bloody brilliant, I’m a massive 40k fan so something like this is interesting as hell, I’d like to see something modern and up to date on next generation console from these games, I think it would brilliant to see some bf5 styled maps all screwed up and full of the chimerans to fight. Great video, thanks!

I don't think yall included the whole lore, albeit at the last game? There's alot of holes left, but the chimera where the mutant offspring of human and the original chimera who I forgot what they call themselves, which actually where native to earth. Form what I got form playing all the games it seem they lost a galactic war long ago and retreated to there homeworld earth and hybridnated. The Russia empire woke the up because they investigated a Meteor that reveal where they were resting. Then the rest is history.
Nerrrddddd

Millions of Russian Imperial Soldiers clash the Angry Night with their Bayonets and holding them with their machine guns. Ngl, that would be a cool scene to see
I never liked the end of Resistance 2 and the plot it set for Resistance 3.
Then came resistance 3 and they found themselfs corneredin the setting and plot, I liked the end, but it was a final point, the epicness of the universe was kind lost (for me at least).
ikr, it made the all the stuff you did in Resistance 1 kinda pointless
Not every story is gonna on a positive note
I like how the Chimera counterattack, that made the story more interesting and even realistic. However, I agree I would have prefered the story of Resistance 3 being different. I wanted a military offensive to the heart of Russia to discover the origin of the Chimera. Perhaps the wormhole should have opened there instead of New York.
