works really good with Sony A7iv, Sony did a firmware update on the Lens version 3.0 and it improves AF on the lens for both photos & Videos its a beast now!!
Haha thanks Michalis. Picked the nicest shots for the good views, but as you can see - plenty of failed shots too. I guess its okay for a casual shooter, but if you are on a more serious project - then I would skip this lens :)
i was using it on my A6400 and the same issues. When i have subject recognised it gives me green box that saying its focused but there was slightly off focus in portraits and i sold it.
what's your experience (or anyone else' in the comments) with this lens when it comes to making host-led food videos at home for TikTok? I find my videos come out blurry/low quality and get better quality from my iPhone 12, but not sure if i'm doing something wrong!
I do have this lens on my Sony A7 original Well it’s easy to carry around and very easy to use I would advise you to try the Canon FD 50 mm 1.8 on your Sony A7 IV All you have to do is to buy the lens and an adapter Let me know if you will enjoy it …
@@TomsJurjaks Yes, the Minolta lens is FullFrame, so if you use it on an APSC, all the glass you use is sweet spot, you avoid chromatic aberrations and lens curvature.
Hard to remember exact settings but I am usually shooting at 60fps and 1/120 framerate. S-Log3, ISO 800 and Manual Exposure Mode. And I use an VND to control the light.
I expect Sony's quality. Look at Viltrox, Sirui, even some "cheap" Chinese brands such as 7artisans or Meike - they have much better build quality, lots of on-lens features, aperture ring, function buttons and what not for the same price AND much sharper and better AF. I am so negative because from a brand like Sony I personally never expect to get a toy, cheap, plastic lens.
@midego funny enough, I can’t really recommend anything… because for that price, getting an F1.8 Full Frame Prime lens with AF is very hard. Some sacrifices need to be made to get that price… but perhaps another option is this: th-cam.com/video/RjzuhwGtK8M/w-d-xo.html
The 50mm lens is 198$ on Amazon now, probably doesn't get cheaper than that: amzn.to/46gqKBJ

Really? I thought they forgot about it and will not support it with new firmware. Gotta try it now ✌️
@@TomsJurjakshey have you tried with update?
Just wondering, what lens do you suggest for gym videos? Thank you in advance 💪🏼
@@TomsJurjaks The last firmware update was in 2017 bro...
@@PrashantFitness24 24-70mm would be great for gym videos
I must say that's it's difficult to make an argument it's not such a good lens when you make such a gorgeous video with it

will the auto focus work ?
Hey my go to guy for 6000 series camera, are you going to review a6700 and if possible with 18-55 mm or 16mm sigma on it?
Can you tell me what ND filter you have been used for daylight shoots? Please
For as long as I remember, I use Freewell Variable ND filters.
You should try the Minolta 50mm f1.7 RS lens with your camera.
That would be fun! Is it any good?

Awesome, need to give it a try! Thanks for the recommendation.
The Sony FE 50mm F1.8 is a much better lens than the old Minolta.
Thanks, I have too (Sony a7iv)
can you please share your video seetings while shooting this perticular video please 😊😊😊

Hey! I am Latvian, but I live in Portugal.

Autofocus issue is most worrying IMO
100% agree. Do you experience the same thing?
Switch to full frame bro
I use both and enjoy both :)
Can you suggest some full frame ?
Pamēģini Sigma 40mm 1.4!

Hate that lens
Haha I am glad I am not the only one LOL
