Really great and helpful video. I have to admit when I got my Sony 50mm OSS, I didn't really like it. I was pretty disappointed with the crop factor. BUT, after watching this video and updating it's firmware it's not hated as much anymore. Just FYI ( and I think you illustrate this in the video) But I got 2768x1848 in APSC crop mode and 4240x2832 in the clear image zoom at a 1.2 crop which got past the vignette issues. thanks again Jason!
Thank you for this awesome video! Just got my hands on a new a6000 with 16-50mm but I don't think it's that great. Going to pick up the 50mm oss after watching this vid.

Also, the other kit lens that shows up with the A6000,cant recall what it is at the moment, but Jason reviewed it,too. Jason is a huge help,a force of nature!
First lens still my favorite lens! I just picked it back up aft 2 years and slapped it on a7c that's why I'm here to see if I can get away with it on FE. Kus it looks Better than the 85 mm I have plus OSS.
The best comparison of these two lenses! I have watched many. I have the e OSS that I purchased for my Sony a6100 and now I have purchased the A7Riii, I was thinking about buying the FE version, but looks like I can use the e OSS just fine. Great video. I've had the 50 FE for years. Now that I have the A7C I'm tempted to pick up a 50 OSS just to see how well the stabilization does with this camera.
What I have noticed sony isn't like canon where the OSS works with the IBIS. Sony chooses one and not both. So having the 50mm FE would be almost same and using the 50mm OSS will just make it a 75mm lens with the crop that you will have to use.
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema I can confirm this having own an A7C and not felt a noticeable difference when I mistakenly bought the 50mm OSS lens. I returned it and am going to get an FE one for my bag

Your 50mm OSS is also 75mm in full frame terms. In short, 50mm OSS apsc lens & FE 50mm full frame lens will give exactly the same field of view & dof on apsc sensor camera.
@@HOTSHOTGAMING-eb3ds 50 mm is 50 mm. The APS-C version (the one with OSS) just doesn't cover full frame sensor. One will not see any difference reg. view angle between E/FE 50 mm lenses. I have a really stupid question. This is old so you may not answer you may not answer anyway but..... At 7:24 - see that shiftiness? I hate that. That really bugs me and makes shots looks really unprofessional and not smooth. I think the solution is to turn OFF OSS and just use stabilization in post with software. That also has its drawbacks and limitations. How do you guys deal with this? Also, I have read and experienced a type of "pumping" effect when AF-C is on. It happens on static images, like walls and such. I'll update later. Edit: That pumping is actually FOCUS BREATHING. The only true solution is to shoot with manual focus or just edit that out and try to keep away from non textured surfaces or surfaces with too many depth changes.
