    Hi I enjoyed watching your video. You made me think about whether I needed a Toaster or Southbank sweater, can't decide. Are they really that similar? Also I'm looking for a tank top pattern for winter. Do you know of any? Liked the pictures of your family.
    Thanks 👍

      Thank you very much 😊 the toaster and southbank are quite similar in terms of neckline, I marginally prefer the southbank overall as I like the drop shoulder (the toaster has raglan sleeve instead) and I like the option for the sweater dress too 😊 i haven’t come across a winter tank top pattern but I’d recommend searching the pattern database on the foldline Website as you can search by features of a pattern, so it’s really good for finding patterns for a particular type of garment 😊

    Hi thanks for the video. Did you adjust the size of the neck hole on the linden? I found it very big, not sure how to adjust it.

      Thanks for watching. I didn’t adjust the neck hole size on the linden. That’s a shame you have found it to come up too big.

    Ohh I was excited to recognise your face when I was searching on here for info on the Jarrah sweatshirt :) You have an awesome channel, and this was a lovely video, thank you - very helpful.
    Do you have any tips when using the same fabric for the neckline and hem/cuffs? I was going to use ribbing but then decided against it.

      Thanks so much, I’m so glad you found the video helpful 😊
      When using the fabric instead of ribbing for the neckband, I find sometimes you need to cut it slightly wider as it won’t necessarily have as much stretch as ribbing (especially fleece backed sweatshirt). Otherwise I find I can use them pretty interchangeably 😊

      @@madebycathcraft Thanks, I was wondering about that, I will try and allow a little extra when cutting the neckband :) x

    This was great, thank you! I have a quick question as I'm still fairly new to sewing, especially with knits - when you hacked the lindon sweater to add the cowl neck from the other pattern, how did you make sure that the new pieces were going to fit into the neck hole?

    • @madebycathcraft
      @madebycathcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching! With that hack I compared the pieces and they were broadly the same size, and as they are stretch fabric I just eased one into the other, so that one stretched slightly more than the other 😊

      @@madebycathcraft ah thank you! I'm just about to make the jarrah jumper and I noticed that for some of yours, you made the neckband with the same fabric - I was wondering how much stretch the fabric you used had so that you knew you'd be able to get your head into it? I'm a bit worried because the fabric I've chosen hasn't got any elastane in (it's a sweatshirt fabric, it hasn't arrived yet) and the pattern suggests using ribbing, but I much prefer jumpers with the same fabric for the neckband.
      Sorry for all the questions!

      @@natalieclamp the rust fleece sweatshirt fabric has 40% stretch according the the website I bought it from. The green one had 4% elastane, so I guess fairly standard french terry stretchy ness? 😊

    Hi Cath, I have the Southbank pattern and plan to make it in a Cosy Colours fleece back . I’ve just noticed when watching your latest vlog that you have done so with the red colour way. Do you think it would be possible to use a stretch interfacing on the neckband to give it a bit more body so that it stands up rather than flop as this fabric is not very thick? ( I might be talking rubbish as I’m fairly new to dressmaking 🤣) also would it be easy enough to lengthen as I don’t like the cropped length? Love your videos x

    • @madebycathcraft
      @madebycathcraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Julie, thanks for watching. Yes I think it would be easy enough to lengthen the Southbank sweater 😊👍 In terms of interfacing that’s an interesting question! I’ve only ever used stretch interfacing on waist ties and it was a lightweight cotton jersey so I’m not sure how it would work on a fleece back and for a neckband, I guess you could try adding interfacing to a small piece of the fabric and seeing how it might feel? X

It's fun to see all of the different versions- amazing how a top can look so different just by changing the fabric. It was also great to see the different variations available with some patterns. I loved the fabric and style of your hacked sweater too!
