Did anyone else notice that in the panda crafts picture the panda is hammering the nail into the wrong piece of wood? Like he’s not connecting the 2 pieces of wood and now I can never unsee that. Apparently panda crafts doesn’t know how to nail a roof together either. Blue
Another great video! I started training martial arts just over 3 years ago and without that training, I would have never known that there's so much BS out there in the self defense world. You're videos are helping people and pretty damn entertaining as well. Blue.
Thanks for making these videos man. Some of these "instructors" and "training videos" will get people hurt or even killed. Sad how many get away with it. Some of the nonsense they get away with selling people blues my mind!
Nick Kerpan To be fair 5 minute crafts non-serious content is also shit, to an extent it‘s what they are famous for. I‘d hope nobody but maybe young kids tale them even remotely serious.
It is always interesting what people come up with for self defense. I have done martial arts for 15 years.. I know before I started martial I had some unusual ideas. The benefit of a teacher with experience is invaluable. Never give . Blue.
4:30 The real problem with getting caught in a belly-to-back bearhug is the inside ankle sweep that follows up. You’re going to fall forehead first onto the concrete. Your attacker is going to land on you like you’re a mattress, maybe dislocating a couple of your ribs. And then they’ll follow up with some serious ground and pound. The only way to escape a belly-to-back bearhug is to maintain your footing, drop your hips, avoid the ankle reap, lean your center of gravity back against your attacker so they can’t pick you up as easily, and use your elbow to make a wedge between you and your attacker. After that, you have real options.
Reminds me of one time I was having an argument with a bad dude in a car that deliberately tried to knock someone down. His kid came out of the car and jumped on me. I didn't realize that the reason he jumped on me was that I had taken pics of the car and the dad. I thought he was going after my hand because his dad had grabbed my wrist. I tossed him away like a big strong guy can do to a 15 year old kid, only to discover later on that my phone was missing. Fortunately, now I know bjj and that kind of situation would go down very differently. Most notably, I would have kept my cool and not gotten physical. Just called the cops on the guy and let them deal. Because the best way to deal with a fight is to leave it to the boys in BLUE.
Absolutely. How you'd like it to work, and how it actually works, are two separate things. As instructors, we need to highlight "responsive behaviours" for both; how is the attacker likely to behave and how is the defender likely to behave ... and how does that change according to height, weight, appearance, age, physique etc. Blue :)
I love that the kidnapped woman is bound at the wrists, has her hands free, yet still chooses to use the underwire to cut the tape on her wrists before removing the tape on her mouth, rather than just pulling the tape off of her mouth with the free hands, and using her teeth to free her wrists. 😆 Blue!
This was one of the fun ones. I used to teach and constantly had to show people how some of these wouldnt work and alternates for them. And I always watch to the end :-D blue.
Rather sad story, a while ago I was talking to a colleague of mine, and she mentioned that she and a friend of hers had been to my city and when they waited for a bus, she said, a guy came jogging down the path... and when he was at them, he suddenly took a jump to the side 1-2 sucker punched her female friend and just went on jogging like nothing happened. My first comment was "yeah totally sounds like my city" but the point is... he's right A: an attacker will no
If I remember correctly, you don't even need your knee to get out of duct tape. You just have to raise your arms and swing them until both hands are by your side. This uses your hips instead of your knee, and the force is generated by a fast swing in place of a push. If you have time to escape with taking off the tape then running, then you have time to run first and get your hands free while on the move. It saves only a seconds of time, but that second could make all the difference. Blue.
Martial arts have saved me a few times from attackers and non attacks like just slipping and hitting the ground. Rob thanks for the reminder about how people follow teachers they like good or bad.blue.
6:00 i think biting not gonna work because the hands r still moving and she can hurt her self while trying to (blue) (english is not my first language)
There is an awesome version of this in the instructional video to tiger crane King Fu. A guy gets jumped next to a car, next to a door, on some stairs and while walking with a briefcase.
Using these techniques will leave you bloody, black and BLUE. Great channel man, I have been watching for a while now and really respect what you do. I have been practicing martial arts since my teens and have seen so many schools get away with questionable morality and business practices. It is upsetting to think that someone would teach a person poor technique and then charge them money. It is disrespectful to the art and it places people's health and lives at risk. I don't mean to be so long winded man, I just wanted to say that I hope you keep up the great work. I would actually love it if you would consider talking to my instructor and have a sort of free flowing discourse a out the state of traditional martial arts. Well, I hope to hear back from you and wish you all the best. Stay healthy, strong and safe. Peace.
Love your stuff bro! I wish I could show it all to my kids, but I need they to grow a bit more (the curse words you know). Keep it real....blew by BLUE
1. The normal thief will try to stay undetected and just snatch whatever at the last moment. 2. When you are doing any kind of self defense you have to practice over and over in REALISTIC situations for it to become "muscle memory". 3. Don't be a fucking hero! 4. Blue...Azul
Whoa, that's cool that you can do that with your knee to rip duct tape. Maybe I should try it... "Ow! That ripped all the hairs out my arm!" On second thought, I'll just trust Rob's example
you would have thought this guy would have given up after the first few kung foos but is he persistant and always wears the same clothes kudos brother x

Is there an email I can contact you at??? About this one sketchy Dojo.

Not all of the "women's self-defense" material I've seen on the web blows, but too much of it does. And that definitely blew.
10:06. Those hapless kidnappers… Looks like they used scotch tape, that’s not even duck tape
I see, what you did there. Blew-blue...
There's no such thing as "women's self-defense"

Why do arts and crafts channels even try to create self-defense content??? And my favorite color is blue.
"Officer McGruff here. Take a bite out of crime!!!" These were hilarious. Thank you for this.............BLUE!!!!
Attacker: So you're a killer? Show me your self defense face.
Defender: Uhngh.... until her face turned blue.
The acting during the biting scene was top notch. Blue
That chaos response, may work by making dude think you're crazy but he's still getting that bag. You're my boi blu.

The whole problem with 5 minute crafts seems to be getting worse, as they try and content-ify more serious things rather than educate. Also, blue

Like you said, it's going to get people hurt trying any of this stuff. Their technique blew.

Nice breakdown!
One quibble: I can an imagine an attacker releasing their grip if they were suddenly falling (in order to break their fall.)
