maybe is an understatement this story is like killing joke because we get into the psyches into both the hero and villain along with an emotional speech of why spidey doesn't want to kill the gobin plus they share a laugh like joker and batman did.
MaxiumumSpider19 I read your comment first then the video and I did not think it would be EXACTLY like the killing joke. It's not a ripoff no but there are like 3 different specific similarities it's kinda jarring. Great story tho
Thwip Studios Anytime man. You deserve it. You put a lot of heart and effort into your work. When did you become a fan of Spidey and is he your favorite?
+Charles Gorman He is my favorite. I've been a fan ever since I was 5 and I watched the "His Amazing Friends" and 70's live action show. My favorite interpretation of the character has been the 90's animated series. You?
Thwip Studios WOW!!!! You really loved the 70's live action show. That was cool too. the 90s cartoon is my fav Spidey cartoon as well, but the Spectacular Spidey was pretty good too. Spidey has been my fav for your years. I've became a big fan of his since the the first Rami film. I personally love that series despite the 3rd film. Spidey is a guy you can look up to and relate to. BTW, did you like it when Peter got married?
+Charles Gorman My love for the 70's show can be seen in Episodes 1 and 2 of our Clone Saga adaptation. Yes, I'm a huge fan of the marriage. Not every writer did good stories with it though. Check out our Wedding/Parallel Lives adaptation.
It was 2002. A magical year. Spider-man for the first time in live action at the movie theater. You could feel the excitement on those early days of the internet and message boards. And to celebrate, Marvel decided to publish a story with the movie’s main characters: Spider-man (duh…) and the Green Goblin. The problem was that Norman’s story was sorta already finished. He found Spider-man’s identity, killed his girlfriend, cloned him, returned from the grave, made his unborn child disappear, and offered him the option of being the heir to the Goblin, so where do you go from there? The answer is this story. In several ways, Paul Jenkins wrote the ultimate, sorta last Goblin story. I cannot make it justice in my description. I urge everyone to read the article www.spideykicksbutt.com/GreenwithEvil/DeathintheFamily.html from none other than Norman’s voice JR Fettinger. Enjoy!
+Thwip Studios Question about this story why is green goblin going after peter again because i felt confused about this entire story as a whole and also where does this take place in the time-line does this take place after the 90;s clone saga or before the fearsome five story line i think that's the name of that horrible story-line where they brought back aunt may from the dead for no reason what's so ever because i am confused
+Tevya Smolka As far as the Green Goblin Saga goes 1) Clone Saga, 2) The Gathering of Five (the horrible story you mentioned), 3) The Revenge of the Goblin (where Norman regains his sanity and kidnaps Peter torturing him to convince him to be his heir) and 4) Death in the Family (this story, also named Return of the Goblin in the trade paperback). After this is the 5)Pulse story (not a Spider-man story, but important Goblin story where it is revealed to the world that the Green Goblin is Norman Osborn) and the 6) Marvel Knights which I adapted here th-cam.com/video/YB6iitw-SNY/w-d-xo.html Like I said in my first comment, this story was done for the 2002 movie as a tie in of sorts. Nothing significant happened, but the writer was able to explore Peter and Norman's relationship in ways none other writer had done up to that point. I really recommend the analysis given herewww.spideykicksbutt.com/GreenwithEvil/DeathintheFamily.html
Thwip Studios huh interesting so basically this entire storyline was just a way for marvel comic to cash in on the 2002 movie as a whole that sounds corporate but at the same genius still very shady though
+Tevya Smolka I wouldn't call it shady, but business. In this case, they came out with a great story. That wasn't the case with SM2, SM3, ASM1, and ASM2.
Honestly, I can see why many people consider this the greatest Spider-Man versus green goblin story in the comics, i’m honestly not sure why people hate the artwork I like it. It reminds me of both the spectacular Spider-Man art style, and The art work of kelley jones from batman in the 90s, and Paul Jenkins writing really captures how much of a threat Norman can be at the physical and psychological level imo.
I actually liked the art for this story. It was something different. Ramos was giving us his best back during this run. But like many artists his work has, "evolved" over time and right now I don't care much for it.
could have done a lot of good with it, despite everything goblins done this could have been made into a genuine offer to do some good with normans empire
Norman's voice sounds a little dry at first. I mean he sounds like the actual age of the character but it's not sinister sounding enough. Everything else was good though.
Norman is not supposed to have a sinister voice. He's a well-respected businessman that people like. It's only when he puts on the mask and becomes the Goblin that his *real* voice comes out.
The first part of this story was the first comic I ever read! I really need to get the other parts! Also love Green Goblin's look in this story, plan on getting the action figure of it some time soon, like the one I had as a kid.
Great video i especially liked how u used the theme song from the '90s animated series i always wondered what the last few lines of the song were it sounds like spider glider spider glider radioactive spider glider. Lol if anyone can tell me what it says id really appreciate it
The Goblin forced alcohol down Flash's throat, then shoved him into the driver's seat of a truck. But did Flash really step on the gas pedal? How sober do you need to be to remember that you've been set up, and the worst thing you can do is exactly what your attacker wants? "I'm drunk, not zdupid. Why would I take ohdas from da guy trying ta gill me?" Maybe the truck was on autopilot. It's not like the authorities needed evidence that his foot was on the pedal. It probably looked incriminating enough to them that his body was in the driver's seat and his bloodstream had way too much alcohol in it.
I love this comic, but why do you A) Change the dialogs B) not include even a bit of their thought bubbles I really like the original dialog, how spiderman thinks how even ater all this years the goblin can still catchem by surprise by always doing something completely unexpected mid battle. And when Spiderman sees flash thompson after the accident he sasy Loud and clear, Norman, Letting us know he got that it was a message. hehe P.D. a sugestion from my P.OV. could you make the green goblin a little bit less cartoony, less raw maybe a bit more crazy yet a notch back to normal, less southerny since he is from connenicut
Not the best quality. Mic's are not really good. But the voice acting is commendable. (Though, as for the comic itself, jeezus, was this Humberto Ramos in his rookie days?)
Ramos was just transitioning from cover artist to full comic artist with this one. I actually think it's his best work. Then again, not so much of a fan.
And it was great! I know we will never get a real adaptation, so this is a great alternative. Voices were solid and music was perfect. Any plans to do an adaptation of revenge of the green goblin?
+Tao Jones T.jones If you compare this adaptation to the source material, I already include the main plot of Revenge of the Green Goblin. I do leave out Norman's girlfriend (a plot that was never resolved) and Peter's torture at the hands of Norman. I think Norman tortures him enough in the Death of the Family story, so I combined both stories.
18:20 WOAH!! okay i get that Peter was trying to make a point but, you can't just tell your enemies to kill your family or loved ones! And not bring your enemies to justice! That's just wrong and messed up. If he don't wanna kill green goblin that's fine but he should at least lock him up or stop him somehow! I mean isn't that his job as a fucking superhero for God's sake!? You know what, I really don't care about the "killing is wrong" type of shit! If you're enemy is never gonna change you HAVE to put them down rather they win or not! I mean sure the enemy wins when you kill them but at least they won't kill anyone anymore! SO WHO FUCKING CARES!!? I'm just gonna stick with Rorschachs line when he said "men get arrested, dogs get put down!" Rorschach is a better here than this version of Spider-Man!
SINCEA King second channel I recommend the link www.spideykicksbutt.com/GreenwithEvil/DeathintheFamily.html for an analysis of this story. Spider-Man will kick your ass if you touch his family. Just read Back in Black from writer JMS. He cleans the Kingpin's clock for shooting aunt may. In this case he was just trying to make a point with Osborn.
The character you described is *not* Spider-Man. The Goblin knows Spidey's secret identity. So Peter knows that if he tries to get him locked up he would reveal his identity to the world, putting everyone he knows and loves in danger. It's a stalemate. And if you think that Spidey should kill the Goblin then you obviously don't understand the character, the lessons Aunt May taught him, or the lesson he learned when Uncle Ben was killed.
This is basically "The Killing Joke" but for us Spidey fans.
Maybe...
maybe is an understatement this story is like killing joke because we get into the psyches into both the hero and villain along with an emotional speech of why spidey doesn't want to kill the gobin plus they share a laugh like joker and batman did.
