- Do you guys remember an animated feature called Nine? Yeah, it's that scary film about puppets. Most of you probably watched this movie in English. At least, I bet you haven't watched it in Russian. The dialogues in the Russian and American versions are entirely different. The Russian localization of the picture was taken up by Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of post-apocalyptic novels. He wrote Metro 2033; probably a lot of you know it.

i think the changes are interesting, and i like the different way the story went and the differences in some characters' personalities. i grew up with the English version, and i appreciated the unusual lack of dialogue. however, i think the ideas they introduced in the Russian version as well as the existential questions are meaningful and i like that both versions exist
As a russian, i heard this thing for the first time and headed back to watching 9 in the original sound therefore after i finished doing so i knew it wasn't interesting at all. I can tell you that if i russian dub was the same as an original i wouldn't think that "9" is an unusual cartoon. In fact i loved watching it since childhood like from ~4 years and liked it my parents used to clarify some philosophy and orthodox morale from this cartoon for me and it gave me many emotions and thus memories. Many thanks to dmitriy and the team for childhood
i wouldn't named this video How Russian "RUINED" the movie. In fact they made it better
I agree. I grew up watching this movie and if this was all in the American version, this would be a more interesting film. But I'm happy with the film we have.

I wasn't aware of there being a Russian version of this movie, but it's 100% better than the original. What amazes me the most is the fact they managed to adapt the story through dialogues only. Pretty clever considering the limitations
Well, I don't think it's ruined. I like how the story is have more kind of morals and purpose in it. I really like abstraction but in this particular case I enjoyed story with deeper meaning rather than the original.

9:51 tbh, it really looks like some alchemy or magic spell, but it's not announced so straightforward in English version.
I will say that the russian translation is proubly a interpretation of the actions of the characters so it is going from symbolic to verbal. The movie does not have much in the way of verbal story telling. Most of the story is through visual things which for most audiences is semi weird. Also the clown monster is nightmare fuel. I think the reason this movie sticks with people is because it is so different to animated movies or even other tv shows. It is very bleak and dark and the only happy ending is that there is bacteria at the end that maybe things will be different the next time.
I remember when me and my sister watched nine only once and we never did again to this day. I don't remember why but me and my sister always joke about it saying "you sound like that mine puppet" or something like that because we remembered the movie as a scary movie because of how it was always quiet the whole time and the way they blinked lol

I remember this movie I liked it and it has always stuck with me. It is a very dark movie with a hopeful ending.
Мне кажется что увеличения количества диалогов и их смысловой нагрузки было сделано для того чтоб российскому зрителю было не так скучно смотреть и без того пустой фильм в котором мало действий и повествования.

так он всё видео распинается о различиях в положительном ключе. как о двух версиях так же как и русские, а название это для кликбейта. а если учитывать как автор в подробности опускается, то может даже возникнуть мысль, что это наоборот то, что ему нравится в фильме 9

The original is open to interpretation, where dub has this specific story. I actually prefer that the puppets represent other people, not just scientist himself.
It's not bad at all, it's strange to dub it that way, making almost the whole other story, but it's kind of interesting to see this interpretation, in some parts, for me, it's even better than the original.

Ахаха, ну да, чел просто скопировал его видео и перевёл на английский. С другой стороны, он дал иностранному зрителю возможность узнать о нашем дубляже, который придаёт совершенно другой смысл фильму. Но мог бы хотя бы в описании указать, кем вдохновлялся)
