Hey Lauren… I’ve been working on this for awhile. Every time I watch this video I want to do more. Just when I get the embellishment I watch this video again and hear you finger picking and strumming which sounds soooo great! I can work on this song for ages .
Hi Lauren, at the beginning of the video (about 1 minute in) you say "Those 2-finger chords that everyone gives me crap about" well, who gives you crap about that??? I think it's so great that you give us, older beginner students, the opportunity to start learning with easier chords. You are the only teacher who does that and it gives me the motivation to keep going because I have small hands and short arthritic fingers. I am so happy that at 66 years old, I can start learning guitar, thanks to your easier chords! Otherwise I don't think I could do it! I will never be a good guitar player but I am thrilled that I can actually recognize the tune of the song that I'm playing. I am now doing your free online course and I do intend to enroll in your full course soon after. So thank you for those 2-finger chords and shame on those who don't like them! My gain, their loss, that's what I say!!!
Well see are you are living proof that what I'm doing helps. There's so many teachers out there who are afraid to break things down a little bit further. Well that's not a real C chord. So what if it helps someone play music and be happy, let's teach it that way to start. Like I tell my students, if it's too easy, I can always make it harder for you. 🤣

Sorry Lauren, I am actually playing along with you. My chord change is not perfect but I can keep pace with you and strum with your strumming. You are a gem. Over the years through frustration, I have smashed two guitars. Beautiful guitars they were. But now I am seeing progress. What I like about you Lauren is your simplicity. As a composer of original music themes for book trailers about comics that are performed on the guitar, I enjoy lessons like yours since you're very informed about music fundamentals that you explain in a practical way and model in various ways that allow viewers to decide how to change their performing of strumming and picking. Very enthralling that inspires me to use dynamics as well. Cheers!
