Hello Sanjeev sir..this is shital from Mangaon, Raigad it self...the recipe which you have showen is more like a restaurant kind of recipe... But in our village we just coat the chicken pieces in red chilli powder and salt and some people use chicken masala along with it..and we never use banana leaf to cover the chicken we out it in as it is..it gives u more authentic flavor of popti😊
Chef is just a presenter, not using his own recipe. Villagers from mopgaon mushet make the popti this way. They either use earthen pot or empty oil tin to cook the materials. They use banana leaves or badam leaves to wrap the chicken.
I don't like chef using the word Alibag more... bhai hum bhi to rehete hai konkan me... but u should not put corn and peas... atleast we don't.. and haven't heard if anyone does that... also i like chicken on direct fire, but coat it with bhamrud leaves, keeps it safe from direct flames... u may hung it just near fire... also try some ajwain (ovaa) it is good.. try putting onion, brinjals that small ones not big.. dont feel bad but it kinda is not that traditional way...
Place to place it's bit difference, you come to Alibaug and taste this in village near resort. You will get ditto taste. Everybody has a bit different recipe as per their locality.

Popti is a dish in which we use whole chicken marinated with ginger garlic paste salt lemon juice not chicken pieces without wrapping it and more of paavta fali,potatoes, sweet potatoes,eggs All this stuffed with Bhamroot leaves and salt. Original or authentic recipe differa from the recipe you have shown.
