Thank you so much we are getting ready to do this in my sculpture class! I have a question though how exactly did tour kids plan for this project? Did you have them draw out a design first?
+Amber Dunn I had them draw 2 ideas, but to be honest many ended up creating something very different from their original sketch. I did tell them they needed 3 holes (negative spaces) and were to create a sense of visual movement around the form. I wanted them to transform the block, not just carve into the 6 sides already present on the rectangular prism. Hope this makes sense!
i have to do this for my art course work, a deer antler sculpture 😶🌫 your videos help a lot! thank you! im really nervous carving this hahaha
I’ve found that a thick layer of hairspray works really well too :D
Great idea! Thanks!
Should have watched this before painting 😮 do you think I could put glue wash on over paint when it’s dry ?
No, but you could always add an extra layer of paint or a gloss medium
Where did you get the floral foam from? I want to do this project with my students, but I'm not sure where to source it from at a reasonable price.
I think it was called EZ Carve foam and was from School Specialty or BLICK.
