I would point out 2 things that I think you get half right.
First, Amin became MPR before Gus Dur became the president. It was him who recommended Gus Dur, also it was him who replaced Gus Dur with Mega
Second, and many outside Muhammadiyah don't know this, Amien Rais said that Muhammadiyah, and I quote "Baju yg kekecilan". Pemuda Muhammadiyah took it as an insult and pledged not to vote for him ever. Muhammadiyah's stance on politics is clear: It would support its members but won't be intermingle with politics.
I don't know how many times the idea of making political party off of Muhammadiyah conveyed, but my my father told me that chairs will fcking fly over your head if the idea is brought up, everytime.

all parties in Indonesia have same ideology it is Pancasila centralists.
So there are no different ideologies from each other.
This is because in the past after independence there were many rebellions and murders just because of ideological differences. So during the New Order era and the military dictatorship came to power .
All political parties must adhere to the 5 values of Pancasila.
1.Belief in the one and only God
2.Just and civilized humanity
3.The unity of Indonesia)
4 Democracy guided by the inner wisdom in the unanimity arising out of deliberations among representatives
5.Social justice for all the people of Indonesia
Any party that does not have these 5 values or has opposing values must be disbanded.
So Indonesia chooses party figures (strong men) rather than the party itself.

Nah Party ideologies are basically interpretations of Pancasila and Pancasila values are made up of liberal, social democratic, nationalist and Islamist (or religious) rhetorics. In practice yes they are Pancasila centralist but in theory they are quite diverse and sometimes they do what their ideology postulates them to do (PDIP bela wong cilik, PKS bela Agamis)
