Despite some funny cgi effects, this is still my favorite videogame based movie. It actually has a nice plot, nice acting, good fights and many of the things that happened in this movie became canon in the following games.
They got their ideas from these: Liu Kang was "Bruce Lee", Johnny Cage was "Jean Claude Van Damme" in "Bloodsport", they even wanted him for making this game at the beginning, Kano was Terminator, Raiden was from 2 characters of Big Trouble in Little China and Raiden is the name of the god of thunder and lighting in Japanese mythology, Sonya, I don't know. The tournament idea, the announcer who also sits on a chair and decides the fate of the fighters and fatalities came from old Chinese Kung-fu films, like 獨臂拳王 (One Armed Boxer, the protagonist fights in many interesting locations), or like its sequel, 獨臂拳王大破血滴子 (Master of the Flying Guillotine), which has all those elements, a deadly tournament and the organiser sit on a chair with an announcer calling the fighters to the ring and mentioning the winner later.
It's funny how Reptile was the only character to actually have his name announced in the movie. One of my favorite scenes of the movie along with the Reptile sound track as they start fighting.
In the theatre back in 95 when that part of the movie came up, my audience and myself went nuts. Reptile still had some of the mystery status around him then

I seem to recall Johnny Cage achieving a flawless victory against Goro, and Goro never got a flawless victory in any fight we saw him in. P.S. Does anyone in this movie understand what the word flawless means? P.P.S. Sub-Zero got one. It’s like the guy bought kicking and punching to an ice fight.
2:31 *REPTILE...* Damn, that still gives me chills 24 years after my 10 year old self first saw it in the theater in 1995, and is still the best movie fight scene ever recorded, in my opinion
With these sounds it actually feels a lot more gritty and the hits ‘hurt’ a lot more than what I remember from the movie. Goes to say how the game managed to suck you in in that realm while the movie did not.
Always amazes me when people thumbs down these videos. Obviously don’t appreciate the art that is involved in making these. My guess is that they could never get past the first fight on the arcade so have sore bitter feelings about this mashup..

That's the thing...if someone comes across a video that they don't find interesting, why not just move on to another video? What good is it actually doing someone to downvote a video, just because it isn't relatable to that person? That'd be like if I didn't like McDonald's, so every time I'd see one, I'd pull into the parking lot, walk in, and announce to everyone in the restaurant "I DON'T LIKE THIS PLACE!", and then just casually leave, LOL. You've just wasted your's, and everyone else's time. The people who down-voted this video were probably either: 1.) not fans of Mortal Kombat - in which case, why the hell did they even watch the video? 2.) expected something different - in which case, the title of the video is EXACTLY what the video is, so how dose someone NOT expect it?? lol, or 3.) trolls.
Absolutely well done ! lol. The Friendship cracked me up. And there's just something about hearing the classic MK effects over the movie. Adds another really cool factor. Cementing that this indeed a MK movie lol
Even though MK Annihilation is considered one of the worst movies ever, maybe adding video game sound effects would make it tolerable as a possible future video
I remember being a kid and having my mom take me everywhere to get this but it was sold out. I had to wait a while before i finally got it. Amd yeah the AI was so tough. I could only beat it with kung lao back then
@@christopherwhitt5521 There are ways you can exploit the AI, mostly with jump kicks. However, if you chose any of the 3 ninjas against Kitana/Milenna, you'd get stuck in a throw loop.
I would suggest doing Drunken Master 2 using Tekken 2 SFX. Lei Wulong in Tekken 2 is literally a tribute to Jackie Chan even to having an alternate costume similar to what Jackie Chan wore in Drunken Master 2.

I still cant believe how close to the game this movie was. The sequel no, and the recent one they made was a hit and miss but still failed despite they ramped up the violence like it could have been in this one. But this movie didn't even really need it at all.
Linden was the Original Johnny Cage From The Movies Till He Became Shao Kahn In MK1 (in mk: annihilation the sub zero in the film is kuai liang and bi-han froze to death (hypothermia) in the 1st mk movie) (also hanzo returned in mk:a despite his death)
This is great, but I have to be honest. It doesn't feel that different. I think it's cause this is how I remember it in my head anyways. God, I love this movie!

@@T4K2000 there are two rounds in every game. The second round is where you can still get a flawless victory with a fatality.
I believe the movie actually mis-used the term "flawless victory" at least 3-4 times throughout the whole thing. That end one also being one of them.
