@@lisagibbons8231 No. it had to be on wet as well! Mine broke after a year lol. I did use it every day mind! Anything that uses water eventually breaks. It’s usually the motors!

Well you swayed me Roger! I ordered this Bissell CrossWave for many reasons, mainly your recommendation. But after watching the entire USA Bissell infomercial they showed black light cleaning tests and that sold me on the great sanitary cleaning this Bissell performs. Also, the special infomercial by Bissell offered big savings on extra solution, brushrolls and filters. So now I'm set for a LOT of cleaning as soon as it's delivered to my home. So thank you again Roger, I truly appreciate all the time, effort and hard work you put into all your videos!! They are not just entertainment but it's a huge difference seeing a trustworthy person such as yourself demonstrating a product VS a company with editing and controlled situations. Bravo Roger.. Glad to see this video. I just received my Bissell and was happy to see the demonstration on how to clean the machine. Thank you. By the way, I have 3 dogs and a cat and the dogs run in and out with the help of a dog door so I always have mud in the kitchen and this took care of the mud and dog hair with no effort at all. LOVE this and thank you for showing us again how to use it.

Wow, fantastic video chuck, lol. So straight forward with simple yet succinct instructions and explanation. Believe it or not, mine is being delivered today from Amazon - no really. Can’t wait. I’ve wanted one for a yr now. I did a ton of research, and from tons of various resources and here’s what I learned:
1. If using it wet on floors you need to move slower with your repetitions ( and I think it says that in the guide too) than if just using it as a regular vacuum. It won’t pick up all the dirty smeared solution from the floor if you go fast. It will LOOK like it did
but the dirty residue will still be there, so not only go slower, but when picking it up , do it at least 10-12 reps back and forth. A guy proved it with a white glove.
2). It does crappy on textured tile and textured or flat tile that have grout lower than the tile. Really, that makes sense.
3). And although it is great on the low pile carpets or large area rugs, (Do NOT USE ON PLUSH EVER) most sources ( mostly the women of course, lol) claim that although the dual floor roller it comes with is good, the rug brush is much better on the carpets. And even with that brush, again, do not use on high pile carpets either. You will ruin the unit. I bought that brush too. It’s only $12.99.
3) Amazon sold it the cheapest by far than any store in my city. Some stores were selling it for $399.00. Amazon was $319.00
4). I agree that the unit is very noisy. I’m 55 and growing up as a kid most of my family members owned a Bissell of some sort. Bissell always had great quality products (in fact I own a Bissell shampooer), so I’m surprised engineering dept hasn’t done a better job with that.The complaints about the unit getting close to edges is silly to me because even the best vacuums that say they do, really don’t. I mean vacuums give you attachments for a reason.

That is about how it cleans grout. Disappointed in your answer although it makes sense. It is just that my biggest problem is cleaning grout, as I am too old to get on all fours with a toothbrush, which seems to be the only way to clean it. @ibaisaic any suggestions on how to clean grout easily?
This video + your explanations are very helpful, but I do have a few more questions
I have a lot of hard floors, half are ceramic tiles (with the problem grout) and the other half is Karndean-Van Gogh glue-down vinyl planks.
Firstly, would it be safe to use the Bissell on there? They say it only needs a light mop (they recommend micro-fibre flat pads) I don’t have any kids or a dog (yet 😀 thinking about getting a dog) so that part of the house doesn’t get very dirty
The Karndean came with special cleaning solution. They told me that I may use other cleaning solution if I insist, (theirs is pretty pricey) as long as it has no chlorine in it.
Do you know what is in the Bissell solution? Could I use that on the Karndean? ATM, I use different cleaner on the kitchen floor to the Karndean, which is a pain.
My other question is about its operation. Do you have to keep the button pressed/squeezing the trigger while you’re using it? I have arthritis, and would find that difficult
@ibaisaic did you end up doing a follow up video? On various product review sites I read that the machine doesn’t last long and the after sales service is really bad. Is there any truth to that? I do realise that sometimes those review sites are not necessarily truthful, so would be interested in your opinion
I am also sorry that the iRobot Scooba has been discontinued. I have white tiles in the kitchen/family room and I could wash it every time I use the kitchen for any reason. Every drop of water makes it look dirty. Would love to just push a button on the scooba at least twice a day… Much too lazy to wash it that often, even if I bought the Bissell 😡

Just received my Crosswave Model 1785.. Does a great job on my Tile floors. I am impressed.. However, model cordless is $389.00 ridiculous. I will use mine with cord. I recommend this machine to everyone. Excellent job Cathy Bissell, you stand behind your products. A+

I use mine a couple of times a week and it's still the best floor washer I've used. I just wish it wasn't so noisy. You may want to do your floor a couple of times the first time you use the Crosswave just to get it as clean as it can be. I think you'll be amazed at the colour of the water, even from a clean looking floor.

Thank you. You did a great job. I'd love to see the same test followed by a re-cleaning to see what it left behind. Maybe even multiple cleanings to see how many times we might have to clean to be happy that it got everything. I'm no professional tester but if that makes sense to you, I'd love to see it. I did a similar test with a Boswell vacuum comparing it to a Dyson we were looking at. I vacuumed half of the room with each, they both did well. Then I watched sides and vacuumed again to see which side left more. Each picked up about the same amount so we kept the Bissell based on price since it tied the much more expensive Dyson. Based on your test, and others, I am going to order a Crosswave though. Thanks again!

Excellent and thorough review! The egg demonstration was impressive and the items you used are indicative of what could end up on a kitchen floor.
This is the second Bissell hard floor cleaner I have owed and I love it!!! My only complaint is that is is still too loud. I actually wear noise canceling headphones when I use it. Great review 😀

I highly recommended it David, apart from the noise and it not cleaning right to the edge. I have just used it today to clean my kitchen floor and it got more dirt up, even though it was only yesterday that I made the demo video. I'm going to get a spare filter so I can have a clean dry one to pop in when the other one is drying and a spare brush when they're available.
The best thing about it is not having to sweep or vacuum the floor before using it. When I cleaned my kitchen today, I wiped all the work surfaces and let all the crumbs etc fall on the floor. I then picked them up and washed the floor in one go with the Bissell.

I was thinking the same thing. I normally vacuum the floor and then mop it. This gets rid of that step and is also nice that you can pick up a spilled mess like eggs, etc. Normally, that would need to be wiped up, which is difficult. I am adding it not my Christmas list.

I've finally purchased a crosswave, Costco had a deal I couldn't refuse. In any event I've been using it half the day and so far it's pretty great. It will definitely make cleaning up much easier since it's a constant battle in this house. My kitchen floor is already a mess thanks to my son.

I got the crosswave max a week ago & its very powerful for a cordless floor washer i love the way the powerhead lights up helping seek out dirt in dark corners. The self cleaning mode helps clean out most of the muck after you washed the carpets & floors & leaves the roller bone dry ready for its next use. If they made a mains powered version of the crosswave max it would make a really powerful compact floor washer

Really great review and demo - hardly anyone mentions cleaning the gadget the cleans the mess (even though it normally takes longer!)
This thing works great. We have linoleum with thousands of wiggly depressions that collect dirt. The crosswave cleaned it thoroughly with little effort. Don't hurry. Just go slow and let it do the work. The quality of construction is good. Go buy one. You won't be disappointed.

Hello. The crosswave os excellent until the compartment which keeps the roller in place becomes dirty. No matter how many times I have cleaned the roller on self clean I can't get the roller clean as the compartment is still dirty and the dirt runs back onto the roller x

Just got one from the infomercial, no problem reading the instructions, but I'ma guy... I like how-to videos LoL. He definitely eased my nervousness about using it. And he answered my main question, how loud was it... guess I'm waiting until my son wakes up from his nap Shhhhh.... LoL

I have this vacuum that I found in the trash at bed Bath and beyond brand-new in the box and I must say it is an absolute joy to have. It works great for such a little floor cleaner and carpet shampooer. My only pet peev with it is that you do have to clean it thoroughly after you use it on carpet otherwise it could clog up with hair and fluff but other than that this thing is well worth the money

@@dolliemilos4598 its small & light enough to lift onto stairs. A bit more tiring than using a carpet washer with hose but the powered roller will give it a deeper clean

Thanks to your review I bought a Bissell Crosswave. I love it!!!! We have 3 dogs and 1 cat and I'm not Martha Stewart when it comes to housework. We decided today to give it the full workout. Pulled out the fridge
. for the first time in months, there were balls of hair, a spoon a toonie, ( bonus) LOL, and layers of dust and dirt, I put it on rug so extra solution would come out and wham bam this machine sucked up the spoon and all, no not really, we picked up the spoon and toonie hehehehe. I was so impressed the floor was clean and not sopping wet. Next the stove, some results lovely and clean. If you've watched this whole video you should practically be a pro. The living room I vacuumed first but really there isn't any sense the machine sucks up everything, that's why in the kitchen I just used the crosswave. I didn't have a lot of luck with a scatter mat but it had pulls and slides around. Won't likely use in on stairs but all and all it's a keeper and worth asking Santa for this Christmas.

Well that worked better than I expected. I was visioning that brush roll throwing stuff all over the place, it didn't leave anything behind, that's great for a machine about the size of a stick-vacuum.
I have laminate wood floors so sadly I cannot use anything like that, so I have to use a swiffer with a special solution to clean my floors. I can use a stick-vacuum for dry pickup but spills and deep cleaning I have to use a special cleaner.

I've been seeing these frequently in the stores and have always figured they're too good to be true so have not actually given these cleaners much thought. I'd still be nervous using this on my hardwood even though it's "sealed" but having all solid flooring I think this might be money well spent. I do use a steam mop for in between (seems great for freshening but doesn't really clean much) but otherwise I use the old fashioned hands and knees method. this would certainly be a wonderful thing to use in the kitchen and bathrooms where most of the mess is concentrated. My lower level would be a breeze to clean with this as well. I'm pretty impressed it did what it did and clean up really isn't a headache.
Great review Roger. Bissell is notorious for loud products, but the outcome is undeniable. No other product cleans better... except for the old fashioned hands and knees. I will start pricing this product immediately. Black Friday is around the corner!!
The noise is the only downside of this cleaner. I have to wear ear defenders when using it.

after cleaning the eggs the brush bar can be quite a mess.. so it s very vital for cleaning the machine and brush bar properly.. otherwise.. it can be such a thread of spreading germs all over your floor..

I'm going to purchase mine today. Black Friday on sale at Bed Bath and Beyond for $259.99 also using a 20% off coupon will make the Bissell very affordable. Can't wait to clean my wood floors. Have been using Bona floor cleaner and always leaves a haze after cleaning, very disappointing after two hours of vacuuming and Bona cleaning. I feel like I'm just pushing dirt around and spinning my wheels. I have two Australian Shepherds that love the mud. And my hard wood floors show it. I have never used mine on wood floors, so I don't know how it will perform, but the Bissell solution does picture a wood floor on the bottle, so it should work OK. Please let me know how it does on your floors.

I would pick the Bissell over the Karcher, though there is a new version of Crosswave that may be better than the older model shown in my video.@@richardb6706
