HOW TO TUNE YOUR SUZUKI POWER VALVE

  • This is a video description on how to tune your power valve 2001-2002 RM250 and RM125 and newer. Power valve is important for controlling when and where the power comes on (hitting the pipe) a hard hit is pretty good for motocross but a tamer hit feels better for enduro for traction. Tuning the power valve is easy to do takes only a couple minutes and really helps with confidence and control.

    That was a good video. I’m having issues with it breaking up on top and kinda seems like it’s a loading up I don’t know if that’s my power valves. I just change the reeds they were cracked. I bought the bike in a box so I’m putting it back together it seems to be running a little rich blowing oil out the header pipe

    I have a 1994 rmx250 farm bike and I JUST realized that it had a power valve. I doubt this valve effects compression? my compression is only 70psi but it runs good besides bad low end. the thing goes fast but wont wheelie and hardly can get a start and sprockets plenty big so basically exactly how you explained it which was done perfectly for a beginner like me.

    • @maksikkarenduro9218
      @maksikkarenduro9218  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check compression when it’s hot, pull plug, out screw in compression checker in (can be bought or rented from orileys) hold throttle wide open and kick over 5 times or as soon as compression needle stops climbing write ✍️ number down clear line do this 3 times. I haven’t seen an RM250 run below 120 psi.

      @@maksikkarenduro9218 alright, thanks man! I did run the test cold I just figured it wouldn't be that significant of a loss but I didn't have throttle open so maybe that makes a big difference.

    So do you have to take the screws out to adjust or just loosen

    • @maksikkarenduro9218
      @maksikkarenduro9218  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Shelby DeBusk no you dont have to take the screws totally out just loosen them so you can spin the camp. The tighter you spin the cap to the right the tamer the hit will be. The looser the spring the harder the initial hit will be. The tighter the spring the easier it will start the looser the spring the harder it will be to start. So install and turn about a full turn right and tighten see how you like it then turn more to the right to tame and then left to make it more like a demon. Hope this helps

      The looser the spring tension the more top end the stiffer the more bottom end. Reminiscing returns obviously too loose you’ll foul a lot of plugs to tight you can over heat the engine.
