  • In this episode, the adventures continue onboard Safar when I begin a 6 day non stop solo passage to the Canary Islands. I've not been onboard SAFAR for over 3 months due to working offshore and over seas, so I was sad to see her looking a little sorry, but she soon scrubs up well and is ready to sail the world again.

    that drone shot at 19:53 really shows off Safar and the awesome design of the yacht through the water.

    Hey Morgan, I'm so jealous, but laughed and laughed when you talked about selling the boat and buying a house - been there, "what a stupid idea this is, what on earth do I think I'm doing ?" and then 8 hours later, "Oh how can this be any better, I'm so lucky !" 🙂 Very good video as always - fair winds my friend, stay safe and well.. Dave

      Thanks Dave! Its felt like an eternity since my last passage! And watching other people sailing while I was at work was a killer, but I’m back to it! Its funny watching the footage back, i make myself laugh sometimes to! But its clear to me how the weather really effects my views on life, the moment the breeze fills in and the sun starts shining I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!

    Just found your channel and subscribed. Making my way through your whole series so far - good stuff! I’d never hear of the Saltram Saga 36, but she’s a beauty - and looks quite stout. I especially love the wide, uncluttered decks.

      Awesome, thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the journey so far, it’s taken me a little while to learn editing, and working away prevents me from doing weekly videos, but maybe one day! Safar was the first Saltram 36, her wide decks definitely give you plenty of space to work when doing sail changes underway etc.

    Hi Morgan good to see u back hope the trip went well. Congrats on another great vid, the honesty bit resonated big time. The boat looks great underway from your drone, really love the Aries too, I did have one way back and thought it was the best thing ever. I also had a hydrovane but honestly never really connected with it and was kind of disappointed especially since it was so spenny.
    Anyway keep going my friend - warm waters and amazing sailing awaits!!

    Hi Morgan, great to see you're back on Sailing Safar again, giving her some TLC with a soft broom;-) With regards to your doubt about the rough&lonely life on the water, i do understand it doesn't seem to be all that nice&comfy sometimes but remember that life on shore can be pretty terrible too! For free spirited people being able to go as, where or when you please is preferable, i believe. Just think of the last three years with all those mandates to control people. and pinning us down... life on a sailing boat has certain obvious advantages... or am i dreaming to much? Anyway, good luck wherever you go!

    • @sailingsafar
      @sailingsafar  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I won’t lie, the tank removal was tough, i managed to rig up some straps beneath it then removed all the fixtures and then carefully slid it forwards, I had to remove a few engine parts to get it past the cylinder head, but it seemed like an easier option than removing the cockpit floor! I’ve rigged up a fuel polishing system now so hopefully I’ll never need ti get into the tank again 🤞

    Hi Morgan, Great videos! I enjoy learning from your sailing adventures. I noticed you have a wind generator on the stern of Safar. On my boat I have a similar generator (Marlec Rutland 913). My questions is have you ever had any issues, or concerns with the generator in high winds while sailing?

    • @sailingsafar
      @sailingsafar  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you’re enjoying the videos! My wind generator is also a Rutland 913 (although it’s very old and weathered now) I’ve never really had any concerns with it and it seems to cope with high winds fairly well, but it is noisy and seems to make the conditions sound worse than they actually are.
      I’ve always thought that i would slow it down and tie off a blade to stop it spinning if the weather was starting to get a little extreme, but thankfully it’s not come to that yet. All the best, Morgan
