Such a nice video, thanks a lot to take us with you along the parade. I admire the way it has been filmed: in fact it isn’t easy to walk among onlookers and to keep the camera steady, there are no shake or unconsidered movements, all images are a pleasure for the eyes to look at. Also, thank you for the high quality sound just like if we would be marching in the rows beside the different musicians. And of course, the Guards and the music are perfect as they always are. Thank you again, l had a nice moment watching this excellent film.

Thank you. You can get a lot of people either walking infront of you or really slow walkers. It’s annoying sometimes and makes the camera shake a lot! I be considering and duck whenever someone is filming. However the pushchairs are quite a hassle to get past since they go at a slow pace.

@@ArmedForcesVideos7 Thank you so much for the time taken in answering my comment. I understand how difficult it can be to keep in focus and frame and to walk smoothly at the same time, despite the numerous obstacles you may find on your way. I shoot videos myself from time to time and while walking, l never manage to film so smoothly as you do. Superb! My congratulations for the excellent level of your work. Beside this, l like so much all the Guards regiments and their perfect bands. So you can imagine how l appreciate your so nice videos.

A good repertoire for the Band of the HC. You meant 4-7? Instead of 5-8.

Thanks AFV for braving the cold and another great video. No broken-down bus this time! (after what happened the previous Saturday). It makes one feel cold just looking at some of the red fingers and noses. I certainly wouldn't want to be holding a tuba for long periods with bare finger-tips!
I was just typing about the year, and then as if by magic "2023" changed to "2024" in the title and the description! Thanks for doing that.
I think thanks are due also to the band, the troops, the police, security and volunteers for keeping this enjoyable show on the road despite the run of less-than-pleasant weather we've been having for so long now.

Hi again@vickyRoyalHistory , the Tuba played by the player in red in this video, seen for example at 04:07 , is an E-flat Tuba, not a B-flat Tuba. I'm guessing that the player in red who we usually see playing the B-flat Tuba, is not here, as the B-flat Tuba is on the other side, being played by the player in blue, who we usually see playing an E-flat Tuba - see for example at 07:06 . Keeps everyone on their toes!
With the Trombones, I stand happy to be corrected but to me there are 5 Tenors and one Bass here - the Bass Trombone is the player at the "blue" end - good view at 07:54 . There are lots and lots of different "makes" of trombones, and each maker might have several different models within their range. I don't think there is a standard, "imposed", model that the bandsmen have to play, which is a different situation to, for example, euphoniums where the vast majority will be a 4-valved "Besson" instrument. On Tenor Trombones which aren't "straight" trombones (which have no valves at all), the exact way that the "extra" piece of tubing is shaped will depend on a number of factors, such as what type of valve(s) the instrument has - for example if you look at my 10 Jan 2024 Buckingham Palace film, at 3 min 26 secs, you'll see that the Bass Trombone has 2 cone-shaped valves which I believe are called "Thayer Valves", and the tubes out of these will come out at a different angle to how they come out of "normal" rotary valves on a trombone. Also, the line between a "Bass" trombone and a "Tenor" trombone can be quite blurred, with a lot of overlap. On a tenor trombone with no valves at all, you could play quite a lot of the bass trombone part, but there will be a lot of gaps in the low notes you can play, and of course the sound will be nothing like as sonorous as it would be on a "proper" bass trombone. With a "B-flat and F"" tenor trombone, like the 5 here in this video, you could play a lot more of the bass trombone part, with only (I think) about one or two gaps in the low notes. How good the sound is, will depend on factors such as how big the "bore" of the main tubing of the instrument is, how big the bell is, how large a mouthpiece you're using, etc. As I say, it's all a complicated subject in itself.

Thanks Mike ! Hope you’re doing well. Some great marches today, (well the usual) but I don’t hear ‘Vimy Ridge’ or ‘On the Square’ so nice to hear it!

Hi@@ArmedForcesVideos7 , yes I'm doing okay, thanks. It certainly was a good selection of marches. The last time I heard "On the Square" in Windsor was in about April 2023 when it was played by the Band of the Scots Guards. "Vimy Ridge" was a bit more recently. As ever I'm looking at the weather forecast for the opportunity for my next trip to Windsor - hopefully soon...

Hi@vickyRoyalHistory Yes, but different people's minds work in different ways. I regard these videos, c/w description, title, etc, as a form of historical record, and as a viewer I want to know immediately whether I'm looking at a video of something that happened yesterday, or whether I'm actually looking at something a year old! Getting the "package" right can be a team effort, as in the case of "you know who" kindly providing the list of marches after a video has been posted. If it's done constructively, I don't see a problem. As someone who uploads videos myself, I am thankful if someone draws my attention to a "typo" I've made - it's easy enough to then correct in the title and description, as AFV has done - and promptly - here. What's not helpful is comments such as "rubbish video" without any basis or explanation for the comment.
