King's Troop are strictly ceremonial / public duties only, and they don't deploy operationally either as a unit or as individuals.
      It simply isn't their role.
A very, very few will transfer to 'mainstream' RA but they seldom return to King's Troop afterwards.
The only exception are the officers who are posted in for a two year tour, but in this case she hasn't.

I get the impression that in modern times riding is not very popular among boys and young men, but still very popular among girls and young women. I moved to Surrey from the West Country 3 years ago, and in trying to find somewhere that would sell a waxed jacket I found that the few shops selling country outdoor clothing were oriented almost exclusively towards young female riders.

The sheer amount of time it takes to get a uniform into such a perfect state is enormous. Take a good look at the shine on those boots. Yes, only spit and polish and lots of hours rubbing with the tip of your finger and re-applying more and more polish can get that finish. Then look at the state of the boots. Well, worn and walked in, not for show only. Very comfortable to walk/march in.

The little girl on her dads shoulders is the most impressive thing here.
Her dad thought it was important enough to stop and let his little girl see that anything is possible for anyone, regardless of gender or race.
The world we live in the west is the best time in all of human history to be alive.
That is why people from other places in the world want to live the dream too.
Even the worst off in the west don't try to emigrate to developing countries.
Western culture is not perfect but if others seek it out then there is something of value in it.
Western culture and democracy is an ongoing process that will never be perfect but can always be improved on by people who serve, care and stand up.
Every culture and society has its virtues and some societies not so much.
Choice is the key, governments and institutions can persuade populations if they create trust.
If there is no trust then it is fear that rules and whatever creates that fear is doomed to fail at some point.
Institutional trust is the key and it is the biggest challenge to any society in modern times.

Kings Troop has a very high percentage of female Gunners in it, as the girls love working full-time with horses and get the "perk" of living in London. The other "ceremonial" troops are actually active combat troops on rotation, but KB is a purely ceremonial unit.

Sorry, but my military training tells me that this young Captain got it wrong. That troop of soldiers were in the "ADVANCED POSITION", therefore the orders should have been "THE FILE WILL MOVE TO THE LEFT - LEFT TURN - FORWARD MARCH - LEFT WHEEL. First command = indication of movement, second command = execution of order/movement,- third command - forward march, followed by directional movement. I was taught by a Grenadier Guards Company Sergeant Major Drill Instructor, and God himself could not have protected me if I got it wrong.

Can only put my input in as a veteran of the United States Army but I believe the British armed forces work in the same manner. Being a ceremonial guard is likely only one assignment these soldiers will have in their military career. In fact they may have other duties in their current assignment as well as guarding. They are not "show" soldiers.

@@mrjockt Wiki, which you've quoted, misunderstood, then added your own interpretation to, has failed you - badly - as has your obvious lack of any military experience or understanding of military terminology.
Being the RHA Battery FOR the Household Division in 1946 did not make them part OF the Household Division.
"For" is the unit the battery supports, just as 29 Cdo Regt RA are the gunner support for 3 Cdo Bde, but they remain part "of" the Royal Artillery, not part of the Royal Marines.
King's Troop are now part of HQ London District, which is responsible among other things for all things ceremonial, along with part of the Household Division (but not all of it) and a dozen or so other units.
HQ London District and HQ Household Division overlap, with the same GOC, but they're not the same thing.
King's Troop are absolutely NOT part of the Household Division, nor have they ever been.
