The Tasman had so much promise with the teasing of concept images. It looked brilliant. What has actually been served up looks hideous and the power comes from a 10 year old Santa Fe / Sorento. They will have to price these dirt cheep to move any of them. Even then I wouldn’t buy one when you look at the competition coming out of China in BYD / Tank etc.
No one is debating or being Polarised …..everyone thinks it’s ugly and weak motor. I’m sick of motoring journalists pandering to manufacturers. Just say it like it is.
Divisive means that people have different opinions. That is not the case here. Everyone agrees it is hideous. A real disappointment. Lacklustre engine, aged 4wd drivetrain tech, 3500kgs tow with an 2.2 diesel with class lowering power and torque is a joke. We need some honesty here.
This was definitely not designed for Australians in mind. It’s a Ute designed for the Asian market. It’s the ugliest Ute I’ve ever seen, and will not sell many, no matter how many TH-camrs attempt to sell it to Australians. Big mistake.

There has already been a Tasman failure..made by Austin..
And I think that's where they got their styling cues

It is so ugly. The BYD Shark will eat the Kia Tasman for breakfast. And probably vomit it up before lunch. I hate this thing.
