      If this was my son I would be devastated, 1st because he participated in such a horrific act. 2nd because as hard as it is I would have to admit he deserved the max sentence. He's young, if he truly wants to change he can get an education on the inside and take everything they offer to better himself. It won't be easy but it can be done.

      🙄 like how just before court they get a job, meet with a therapist, start school, go to an aa meeting, etc and then claim they're Finally getting their life in order and haul in people like their mom to say how "they've changed" even though she hasn't seen him in years and has a maybe kinda sorta job waiting for him and a kinda sorta family support....i dunno if mom is the best person to help her son in any case. I'm not done watching but so far it sure doesn't sound like he should get anything but jail time, to me.

    My adult son was in jail for numerous things due to his alcoholism and drunken violence. We allowed him to move in with us once he was released under the condition that if he drank, he would have to leave. Unfortunately he only lasted 1 weeks and was drunk again. We called the sheriff and had him arrested. It was very difficult to see him led away in handcuffs. He spent 4 months in jail and then to an inpatient treatment facility, then to sober living. That was over a year ago and he can visit us during the day, no overnight stays and cannot live here ever again. We refuse to be enablers. It is really tough though.

      Wow, that's very sad to hear. I hope your son gets back on the right track. All too often, I see these parents who continue letting their grown children make the same bad mistakes repeatedly, basically enabling them when they think they're helping. It does sound like you made the right move. At some point, you have to cutoff the financial support and push them to get outside help.

    • @Pugetwitch

      So in your experience, did your son's true nature come out when he drank? According to all the other commenters here, the true personality comes out. Lol as a substance use disorder therapist and the daughter of an alcoholic, I know for a fact that these commenters are ridiculously uninformed in that the toxins muddle somebody's mind so that absolute blasphemy comes out, not their true personality. People behave uncontrollably and in ways that they normally never would when they are intoxicated, and I've never heard a drunk person telling the truth about anything! In fact, drunk people out there and exaggerate more, makeup lies, don't understand right from wrong, and are willing to go along with things they normally never would be. But according to all the intelligent commenters here, lol, that's just who they really are!😂 Pathetic. It's sad how very little society understands about alcoholism and addiction.

      Well, yeah, the victim isn't her kid. Most of us aren't breaking down over any of the victims in these cases. If it was someone I knew or loved, that's different. There's a stronger emotional response for those we love, regardless of the action.

    • @scrumps101
      @scrumps101 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I don’t think the OP relayed expectations of the mom exhibiting the same response for both the victim and her son. I think the point being made was how vastly different her responses were. She did appear “stoic” when hearing of the very traumatic details that the victim endured at the hands of her son. She showed very little emotion. Most people who are able to withhold strong feelings are able to regulate and maintain their emotions with small variances. Thus indicating that mom seems to give very little regard to the victims and his injuries and her concern lies mainly on her son’s freedom. Most humans would have a hard time holding back emotion when hearing the details of their child’s inhumane acts on another person. The fact that she displayed no change of feeling when she heard even new details of what the victim had to endure such as being stabbed also speaks volumes.

      No, where was “WOW. Zero accountability for him.” ever stated. Here is where everything rubs me wrong, Had this been 3 or 4 cops that beat someone to death on the side of the road. And it happens, often. Only the officer who hit the most or hit the deadly blow would be charged or at least fired. This happens regularly.
      However, when it comes to citizens, it could be 3 or 4 and one of them shoots or injures someone and all 3 or 4 get charged with pulling the trigger.
      When it comes to cops, there are just a few bad apples. When it comes to citizens, they are all just bad. We have double standards and two tear justice system in this country and citizens, either uneducated and emotional bags, approve of it.

I felt she was trying to gain sympathy as do many others after watching Judge Boyd daily.
      I'm glad this woman can still function and have a somewhat normal life and owning her own business by making crafts and selling them. Some people with lupus do not get to have a functioning lifestyle.
      I think anyone that commits a crime whether it be an officer or citizen should each be investigated and charged accordingly to their crimes. Unfortunately this is Texas and the sentences are tough and long.

It's a deep despair when a mother or father realizes that the child they love is lost to them, probably forever. The judge was more than fair. This was attempted murder, there is no fixing that and there is no going back from this heinous crime that will be impacting the victim for the rest of his life. I never understand why defendants go to sentencing with nothing but excuses after already being found guilty. At that point, the judge is going to (rightfully) work under the assumption that you committed the crimes as charged. Trying to lie, mislead, or minimize those crimes is the worst thing you can do at that stage, more or less guaranteeing you'll get the near to the max or the maximum sentence. Taking full responsibility, making no excuses, and at least appearing to be genuinely remorseful is the best strategy. Given these crimes, the guy was likely getting 12 years regardless, but what he said only assured that. He'd have been better off remaining silent than this.

    After reading about all the details in regards to this case, I'm shocked at Judge Boyde & the light sentence given to this vile criminal. He absolutely accepts ZERO responsibility for the MANY decisions he made to alter the victims life FOREVER! Even worse, these 3 knew each other & hung out prior to the victims attempted murder. The terrifying acts perpetrated on this human being were horrifying. All for an illegal trade of goods that went wrong by an uninvolved party. A person that had nothing to do with the original agreement, went & changed it. The 3rd party took back the item, not the victim. These 2 felons did not care. They made the victim pay with his life, even though he hadn't been part of the take back. Yes, I know I said with his life & he's still alive. I say that because in a sense, it's true. The victims life, as he knew it, will NEVER EVER be the same. As I cope with my own trauma, I am so grateful that it's not this victims trauma. I struggle greatly with what I went through & it's ALWAYS there, but compared to this human being........well it doesn't compare.
