Officer asked a reasonable question.
Officer got a reasonable answer.
Yes, Captain!
Tbf though how long had that cop been in the city on duty? Did he just turn up there and then or has he been ignoring the extra dimension falling for the sky till right then just standing there going what do I do till someone tells him what to do and upsets his feelings 😂
Nothing about that role makes any sense to me and would be no loss to lose that scene at all
Also, officer was very reasonable 😂😂
Out of the millions, I'm glad you were the first one to reach the egg bro
By this logic, the next guy to kick Caps ass is in charge?
I love the trope of cops never wanting to take orders from superheroes, they see what they're up against, and then it's "actually yeah we'll do the support role"
This one is valid though. No one's heard of him before and wearing such a suit then starts giving orders. What if it was a cosplayer, you know.
Realistically, the cops would've just gunned Steve down on the spot and later say they thought he was one of the attackers and they feared for their lives 😂😂
@@darthkarnage7538 In fact, that was actually what that one cop was about to do to Cap at 0:50
@@normalasian9260he probably would've shot him until he realized Cap was speaking english instead of Aliens
Asskicking equals authority
The deleted scenes from the battle of New York were excellent. Like that cop who grabbed the Chitauri gun and shot down one of these flying things. Right then he gets on the radio - "Get the guns. The guns are very good."
They deleted scenes like that??? That would have been awesome!!! Come on!!! Regular people can do brave things too!!!!
And then he pretty quickly gets killed. It's Enver Gjokaj - the younger cop standing next to the main cop in this clip

This is typical Captain America. A guy wearing a cartoonishly patriotic suit shows up holding a shield and starts talking. No one takes him seriously until they witness him in action, after which they follow him without question.
It was this way in the comic books, it was this way on TV (X-Men Animated Series), and it was portrayed perfectly in the MCU. I love seeing it.
There was a comic book series put out by Marvel in the 1980s called Contest of Champions. All of Marvels Super Heroes and villains were kidnapped and taken to some location on another plane to battle. At the start, Prof. X and Mr. Fantastic had a meeting and decided immediately that Captain America should lead the super heroes. Wolverine became upset ("He's the weakest of us all and you want us to follow him?") Within a few minutes even Wolverine had to reluctantly admit that Cap knew what he was doing.
@@jamesrawlins735 Why would Wolverine be the one to doubt Cap? He literally fought alongside him in WW2. He should know better than anyone what Cap can do.
@@jahrusalem3658 That was only revealed about 20 years ago in Wolverine Origins. Contest of Champions came out in 1982 and Wolverine was more of a hothead back then. If I remember C of C was originally intended to be a celebration of the 1980 Olympics (the superheroes were supposed to take part in one Olympic event) but when the US boycotted the games they postponed it and came up with this storyline.
@@jamesrawlins735 Huh. Neat. Guess that makes sense.

There's something very primal about:
"Why should I listen to you?"
"I can kill what you can't."
"Orders sir."
Listen to the man who can kill all the things. It helps you avoid potentially being one of those things.

It's made sense for over 2,000 years. Even now as we consider ourselves "civilized", in the world stage as a whole the countries with bigger military call a lot of shots.
@@jayewrite1256you know two isn’t half a dozen, right?
Cap's true power is being an expert tactician and field commander. And he's often been depicted as having a form of charisma when he talks that inspires others.
People instinctively recognize his fundamental superiority. Superman has the same thing.
Cap is a natural leader.
I bet that’s one of the qualities he had pre-serum that the swim enhanced, one of the many things that made him an excellent choice!
Tall and , prognathic mandible
Exactly! When people only relate him to being super strong in combat they miss the whole point.
I remember seeing this in the theater on opening night and everyone laughing hysterically after the cop immediately changed his tune 😂.
Yeah it was hilarious
Same thing happened when I went on opening day
Funny thing is in this situation Cap actually would have legal authority to issue orders to the cops. It's an invasion, and he's the senior active duty US military officer on scene. Local forces such as police take orders from ranking military officers in these kinds of situations. (Not that an ALIEN invasion is the usual thing that is directed at...)
To be fair he looks like a clown when people see him for the first time until he took action. Just like in Italy 1943. They didn't take him seriously until he rescued those prisoners from Hydra
He's no longer part of the US military technically, the Captain part of his name is honorary
@@guts-141 Especially in that fugly outfit. Can't believe it took them right up until Endgame to nail the costume, particularly when they had it so close in his very first movie.
@@ajc1482 This movie occurred before Captain America 2, so he's still part of the military.
So yes and no. The federal government would need to declare martial law before Cap could legally give orders.
Not sure which was more awesome: The humor in this scene when the cop took the Captain's orders, or the heroism in the scene when the SHIELD tech refuses Hydra's commands, based on "Captain's orders." The MCU was really great back then.
Definitely the latter.
Thats probably my fave MCU scene.

Captain America’s suit in this movie is fucking beautiful
That’s America’s ass, all right.

When marvel was good and had a genuine sense of humor.
I'm guessing that whole Captain America being defrosted thingy still didn't set on everybody's mind yet. I mean, the moment Cap is running in the middle of streets at the end of first Cap movie probably already creating a buzz, but when SHIELD is involved, information might just been filtered, since SHIELD at that time try to prioritize Cap's recovery. So, I'm not surprise if that cop just assume Cap is just some random guy with costume and not Cap himself.
Yeah, I get the vibe that Cap has JUST gotten unfrozen. By the time Winter Soldier happens, it has been long enough for the public to fully recognize him.
I love how this cop is trying to question America's ass
This was one of my favourite scenes of Avengers.

Captain America meets Sergeant Gormley.
This, Cap giving the plan and the part where the old man stands up to Loki! I say 3 best parts of the movie
Good job Sergeant Gormley i see why he get promoted to work for Frank Raegen.
Sid didn't wait to clear it with Frank!
I miss this marvel... it was so good back then. They better do right by blade. I'm most excited to see that. And wesley snipes better be whistler
It was like this back in the war, people saw the costume and thought he was a joke and just an advert for the army or military and then they saw what he could do, saving an entire platoon of men in basically one swoop.
Bring back those marvel glory days
"Why the hell should I take orders from you?"
'Coz I have America's a$$'
Cop: Hmm.. seems legit -- proceeds to follow orders.
This movie really brings back memories
If Falcon became Captain America at this point, the cops would have shot him first
This scene never fails to make me laugh. "Why should we listen to you?" After seeing what he can do... "oh, ok"
This NYPD sergeant gets promoted to LT and becomes the NYPD commissioner's right-hand man.
Its one of those action speaks louder than words moment
I just started rewatching Blue Bloods today. The officer that Cap orders is the same actor as Sid Gormley from the show. He even has the same rank in the same city. Given the show was going on for 2 years at this point, it feels like a nod.
The fact that he’s Captain goddamn America should have been reason enough
Thought the same. How come he don’t recognize historical hero he might’ve read in comics about.
lol lol!!! one of my favorite lines!!!!
The Sergeant also plays Lt Sidney Gormley on Blue Bloods. His character on that show started out as a sergeant of detectives
0:09 Is something that I sorely miss from these MCU movies. Look at Black Widow and Hawkeye, they're just literally saving people, being heroes, no need for superpowers or extreme CGI effects. They're just...saving them. It feels grounded, "real". They feel like superheroes. While I like some of the newer MCU movies, I miss these moments from the old ones.
Props to those good guy grunts who showed up just in time to make Cap look good

That's how you do humor. Not just random jokes about holes and diks. Marvel needs to see this.
But uhhh, this was Marvel.
@@TechInspected Exactly. "Was"
This is my favorite scene from the movie!
This is the kind of subtle comedy that old MCU was loved for - especially the bit when the Sergeant, after seeing Cap kick alien butts, promptly changes his mind and repeats Cap's instructions word-for-word.
You'd be lucky to find such subtle moments of comedy amidst serious context in the present day MCU movies. The comedy moments are way too overt and in-your-face; instead of finding it hilarious, they come across as old, tired and desperate.
And the worst thing about such forced comedy routines in the new movies? Had the makers decided to exclude the comedy, the entire scene would have been actually been more enjoyable.
That action scene looks so goody now lol.
