I grew up with Rugrats and Double Dare, so some of the characters and the green slime element really appeal to me. Don't care at all for Spongebob and the zoomer reboot of Turtles though... it would've been great if it had Rocko, Doug, and Ah Real Monsters, instead... as well as levels that paid homage to Temple of Doom and Salute Your Shorts.
Dude, speaking as a 32 year old that absolutely loved the original cartoon, the 2012 reboot of Turtles is sooooo good. Definitely worthy of a "which run is better" debate. I love your idea for the throwback nicktoon characters and Legends/Shorts inspired tracks. A go kart track on Camp Anawana would be sweet
4 turtles... How lazy can a game get? It's not like Nickelodeon has a giant backlog of characters....I think this could have been cool, if they used cars from the shows and a lot more characters. Now it looks like something from 20 years ago with no real reason to exist.
@@trustavidity The rubber banding was kinda there for a reason. Bit hard to blow racers up with props if the racers get too spread out. Biggest problem was online multiplayer: there were only two viable vehicles for online, and they were the last two you'd unlock.
The excuse is they have no idea how to innovate it or some crap like that.. Meanwhile still pumping out the same and tired and rehashed Mario games ad nauseum.
Because this style of racing game doesn't sell enough to make it worthwhile for them. It wouldn't turn a profit if made on an AAA budget, and there are already some pretty good alternatives filling the niche in the indie space (fast RMX and Redout, the first is even a Switch exclusive). Same reason why Sony no longer makes WipeOut games.
Grid Autosport is the best realistic racer on Switch with a lot of visual options from 30fps high quality to a 60 fps mode and even a battery saver option for handheld all with an optional HD texture pack. Other than that are the arcade versions of Outrun and Virtua Racing through the Sega Ages lineup
@Darth Wheezius Good job they're not as the physical copy I had on the Wii U froze at the same place every time.. Other people have experienced similar issues from what I've read.. Almost as bad as Lego games...
carruthers100 I agree that switch has a lot of indie and free to play mobile like games. It is a bit annoying but I’ve actually started enjoying those types of games. I’ve got quite a lot of cheap really fun games on switch. For instance, I just bought Doom 93, doom 2 & doom 3 for less then £5 . Plus, switch does have a good amount of aaa, even if they are ports. Doom 2016, the Witcher 3 metro, etc.
Ok, Everything he just said about Overlander being like Podracer is a complete FARCE. There are no weapons, no boost pads, and controls are nothing alike in either of the Podracer games!

Virtua Racing on Switch is pretty amazing. Looks amazing and runs at 60 fps. Also has an incredible 8 player split screen mode (and the other modes have customizable options for split screen depending on number of players, like horizontal and vertical orientations, 2 player tabletop mode where you face each other, etc) . All that's really missing is a local wireless mode (it has a 2 player online mode) for up to 8 players, and pro controller support for the multiplayer modes. Honorable mention goes to OutRun, which is amazing as well and offers 60fps (although my favorite version of this still has to be 3D OutRun on the 3DS which looks amazing in 3D). Both are fairly cheap and play great in both handheld and docked mode. Still waiting for Daytona, Daytona 2, SCUD Race and OutRunners to make it the Switch!
Now all we need is an "all stars" cart racing game featuring lost and forgotten 8/16-bit characters: Bonk, Chuck Rock, Awesome Possum, Sparkster, Cool Spot, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel, Kid Chameleon, Pocky & Rocky, Aero the Acrobat, Joe & Mac, Uncle Fester, Chuck D. Head (from DecapAttack), Chakan, and...wait for it...James Pond?! :D
Fast RMX is amazing. Horizon Chase Turbo is also great, especially for fans of old school racers. If I had to pick just one, I'd go with Fast RMX as it's great and it's also cheaper. The jet ski racing game is also good. I think I paid something like $2 for it because of an eshop sale.

Maybe it's just me but that Asphalt game just felt tame for as over the top it's, though I had the same problem with the DS one as you might be going insanely fast, but it just felt limp in contrast to a Burnout to me.
I have played racing games since Enduro on the Atari 2600 and HORIZON CHASE TURBO is easily in my top 10 racing games of all time. The sense of speed is insane. So much fun!!!
They need to put Hydro Thunder on Switch. And maybe remaster it for next gen or current gen. They should also put Sled Storm & the SSX series (minus the latest version) on there.
I am always surprised when I see an american review of Horizon Chase and there is no mention of Kemco's Top Gear, since the creators themselves have always made it clear that it was the main inspiration, including calling Barry Leitch, composer of the SNES game's iconic soundtrack , to create the game’s music. Then I remember that Top Gear is unknown to most americans, while in Brazil the game is still worshiped today. In fact it is for this reason that Horizon Chase exists, the game's developer, Aquiris, is brazilian and that is why we can see some details like the Fiat Uno with ladder on the roof, a very commented addition here. It is a type of meme here in Brazil that these cars are the "fastest in the world" when there are only 15 minutes left to the end of the business hours.

It actually has a remixed track of a song from top gear 1 on the SNES. I noticed it immediately from playing the SNES top gear games all thru the 90s. And I'm not 100% sure which Americans dont know about top gear bc that game has been popular af around my area since it hit the SNES lol. Me and everyone I knew played tf out of the SNES ones, then on the n64 I still to this day play top gear rally 1 and 2, and even top gear overdrive. I was just playing top gear rally on the gba the other day actually lol but i do miss those games and when i saw horizon chase turbo i was just blown away and immediately knew what it took inspiration from. I think EA really left money on the table by not porting some of the Burnout games over to the switch. I think dangerous driving has been announced for switch now and if that’s a good port I can see it doing very well.

Bryan Smith I haven’t watched the full video but I highly recommend crash team racing. it’s more intense then Mario kart has a story mode and the online has grand prixs where you unlock skins, items and karts that you can only get for the time the Grand Prix is going on. it’s the second best online game for switch next to smash with online connection sucks on smash lol
I just picked up some racing games, great timing. Had a feeling this video would come too! I picked up Super Street: Racer, Horizon Chase Turbo, and got the most recent Monster Jam game, Steel Titans. It's a bit better then the last game in the series , Crush It. Great video again!
@@MetalJesusRocks we previewed it a little while back, and i saw it was available physically so picked it up. graphics are a bit bland however the features and game-play is pretty good. what got me is the ability to customize and build up your car in just about every aspect, from the engine parts, body, and even interior! So it seems like it would offer some solid long term value to make the best car you can for the races.
Other noteworthy racing games would include: GRiD Autosport, WRC 8, Xenon Racer (It's now at a fully playable state), Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled and some classic re-releases such as Virtua Racing and OutRun from the Sega Ages series.
I get put off of buying racing games on Switch because of the lack of analog triggers. That said, I do like a good kart racer and really enjoy Virtua Racing. :)

Hotshot Racing is a great love letter to those 90s racing games like Daytona and Ridge Racer and im commenting to those that are looking for racing games they might have missed
Trials Rising is also a great racing game on the Switch. It was on offer for only € 9,99 a few weeks ago and definitely worth the buy at that price. It also seems that Ubisoft regularly discounts their games in the eShop.
Vector Unit surely does know how to make fun and actually good looking racing games. At least from what i've played from them, Hydro Thunder Hurricane (the only Hydro Thunder they worked on, its for the 360), Beach Buggy Racing (played on the PS4), Ritpide GP2 as well Riptide GP Renegade (also on the PS4, day one even) are awesome. They should finally release at least both Ritptide GPs and Beach Buggy Racing physically (and no, not limited run and all on the disc/cartridge), i would buy that so fast.

The first is a technological miracle, I can't even imagine how the guys at Shin'en managed to create something so fantastic with the absurd size limitation of WiiWare games.

I feel like EA needs to get their $*** together. They made Most Wanted for the Vita and I actually enjoyed that port. They say they don't feel like fans would get the best experience for their games on switch. Sounds like a lazy copout to me. Listen to what little fans u have left EA and start porting more to the switch. At least give us NFS!

No offence, but TH-cam niche/retro gamer comments truly are delusional. This isn't a fucking charity and catering to those kind of needs would make absolutely no difference to their bottom line. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see ME, Dead Space and Burnout remasters on the Switch, and it could happen eventually, but even FIFA games sold very poorly on the system. And that's a franchise which is insanely popular on other platforms, whether you like it or not. Sure, the ports weren't exactly amazing, but they weren't terrible either (I have a used copy of FIFA 19, and it's impressive on the go - we've truly come a long way) and the masses clearly didn't care.
Would be helpful to list which games can be played local split screen and if so are they 2 or 4 players local multiplayer as well. That info is often hard to find unfortunately.
@MetalJesusRocks Another racing game that you will LOVE on the Switch is Crash Team Racing Nitro-fueled! If you like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, then you will love this game. I'd love to see a review for that because in my opinion you will love it. It won Racing Game of the year at the Video Game Awards. When I bought this game, I hardly ever touch my other games because of how addictive this Kart racer is!
Grid Autosport is easily the best racing game on switch. Nice blend if sim-cade with tons of different types of cars that can be raced and multiple graphics and control options.
While I don't have a Switch and don't plan on buying one, it's always nice to see racing games for a Nintendo console. They are so rare for some reason, compared to other consoles. Thank you for this cool video. I hope that if Nintendo ever releases another proper non portable console, they will make sure there are racing games on it too.
The next Penelope is a great cheap racer no one seems to talk about and a purchase I made the other week thanks to Wood from Beat em ups Nippon Marathon which is such a laugh with family or friends it's so funny
There's another racing game called Extreme Club Racing on the switch, it's not perfect maybe but it does look really nice, plus it's dirt cheap like less than a dollar now, so grab it before it's gone, great video Metal Jesus
A couple of other people have already mentioned it, but Redout is a pretty damn good racer. I haven't played the Switch version, so I can't speak to how well optimized it is. But the controls are great, the tracks may not be the best ever, but there's definitely some creative and cool-looking stuff in there and it has an insane sense of speed (especially when you need to push the right stick up or down to avoid a redout).
I have Redout on PC and Switch. The Switch version makes some SERIOUS compromises to maintain 30fps, dynamically adjusting resolution in some areas of some tracks (DLC tracks especially) down to what must be 144p. For the most part the game is entirely playable and fine, however. I enthusiastically recommend the game, but it's hard to recommend it on Switch over other versions except for the fact that it has ALL of the DLC tracks.

A little off topic but I was wondering do you keep all your consoles plugged in at the same time? Or plug in as needed? I currently have 8 consoles plugged into 2 surge protectors going into a single outlet. Thanks man keep on rocking in the free world

I think EA really left money on the table by not porting some of the Burnout games over to the switch. I think dangerous driving has been announced for switch now and if that’s a good port I can see it doing very well.
Burnout Paradise Remastered has since been ported to the Switch.

Bryan Smith I haven’t watched the full video but I highly recommend crash team racing. it’s more intense then Mario kart has a story mode and the online has grand prixs where you unlock skins, items and karts that you can only get for the time the Grand Prix is going on. it’s the second best online game for switch next to smash with online connection sucks on smash lol
I just picked up some racing games, great timing. Had a feeling this video would come too! I picked up Super Street: Racer, Horizon Chase Turbo, and got the most recent Monster Jam game, Steel Titans. It's a bit better then the last game in the series , Crush It. Great video again!

@@MetalJesusRocks we previewed it a little while back, and i saw it was available physically so picked it up. graphics are a bit bland however the features and game-play is pretty good. what got me is the ability to customize and build up your car in just about every aspect, from the engine parts, body, and even interior! So it seems like it would offer some solid long term value to make the best car you can for the races.
Other noteworthy racing games would include: GRiD Autosport, WRC 8, Xenon Racer (It's now at a fully playable state), Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled and some classic re-releases such as Virtua Racing and OutRun from the Sega Ages series.
Some good switch car games, GRID Auto sport, WRC 9, Wreckfest ,gear club unlimited 2, Spintires mud runner.
Overlander for $2.99 right now in the eshop. Awesome game for the money

I get put off of buying racing games on Switch because of the lack of analog triggers. That said, I do like a good kart racer and really enjoy Virtua Racing. :)

Great recommendations and I gotta say, this video actually helped sell me a Switch a couple of weeks ago, so thank you very much! Racers I bought at the start- Fast RMX, Horizon Chase Turbo, Grip, WRC 8, V-Rally 4, and Virtual Racing and I’m enjoying them all.
Hotshot Racing is a great love letter to those 90s racing games like Daytona and Ridge Racer and im commenting to those that are looking for racing games they might have missed
Just downloaded and played a few races of Horizon Chase Turbo, such a fun game. I got it through a humble bundle, so happy i did.
Trials Rising is also a great racing game on the Switch. It was on offer for only € 9,99 a few weeks ago and definitely worth the buy at that price. It also seems that Ubisoft regularly discounts their games in the eShop.

Vector Unit surely does know how to make fun and actually good looking racing games. At least from what i've played from them, Hydro Thunder Hurricane (the only Hydro Thunder they worked on, its for the 360), Beach Buggy Racing (played on the PS4), Ritpide GP2 as well Riptide GP Renegade (also on the PS4, day one even) are awesome. They should finally release at least both Ritptide GPs and Beach Buggy Racing physically (and no, not limited run and all on the disc/cartridge), i would buy that so fast.

Horizon chase turbo is an unofficial sequel to top gear on snes. It has songs from that exact snes game, it's amazing!
I really enjoyed this video because my step daughter owns a Nintendo switch and she plays all kinds of kids games and sometimes i will end up playing a racing game or Star Fox but now I know the top 5 games for the switch thank you... ps I really enjoy all your videos
I feel like EA needs to get their $*** together. They made Most Wanted for the Vita and I actually enjoyed that port. They say they don't feel like fans would get the best experience for their games on switch. Sounds like a lazy copout to me. Listen to what little fans u have left EA and start porting more to the switch. At least give us NFS!

No offence, but TH-cam niche/retro gamer comments truly are delusional. This isn't a fucking charity and catering to those kind of needs would make absolutely no difference to their bottom line. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see ME, Dead Space and Burnout remasters on the Switch, and it could happen eventually, but even FIFA games sold very poorly on the system. And that's a franchise which is insanely popular on other platforms, whether you like it or not. Sure, the ports weren't exactly amazing, but they weren't terrible either (I have a used copy of FIFA 19, and it's impressive on the go - we've truly come a long way) and the masses clearly didn't care.

I'd love to see a review for that because in my opinion you will love it. It won Racing Game of the year at the Video Game Awards. When I bought this game, I hardly ever touch my other games because of how addictive this Kart racer is!
Grid Autosport is easily the best racing game on switch. Nice blend if sim-cade with tons of different types of cars that can be raced and multiple graphics and control options.

While I don't have a Switch and don't plan on buying one, it's always nice to see racing games for a Nintendo console. They are so rare for some reason, compared to other consoles.

There's another racing game called Extreme Club Racing on the switch, it's not perfect maybe but it does look really nice, plus it's dirt cheap like less than a dollar now, so grab it before it's gone, great video Metal Jesus

A couple of other people have already mentioned it, but Redout is a pretty damn good racer. I haven't played the Switch version, so I can't speak to how well optimized it is. But the controls are great, the tracks may not be the best ever, but there's definitely some creative and cool-looking stuff in there and it has an insane sense of speed (especially when you need to push the right stick up or down to avoid a redout).
I have Redout on PC and Switch. The Switch version makes some SERIOUS compromises to maintain 30fps, dynamically adjusting resolution in some areas of some tracks (DLC tracks especially) down to what must be 144p. For the most part the game is entirely playable and fine, however. I enthusiastically recommend the game, but it's hard to recommend it on Switch over other versions except for the fact that it has ALL of the DLC tracks.
