I prefer 3 to LA because 3 on psp is more or less just ported from the ps2, whereas LA psp just has less game. It is pretty much a requirement though to play the game from the SD card, and to overclock the PSP to the intended 333Mhz. Those reasons alone makes sense why it would be considered bad originally
Codeslamer yeah I used to play this on a stock psp years ago and it rarely ran at full speed let alone at a decent framerate. Still enjoyed then though (as well as now) :-)
3 years later, I still come back to this video when I need inspiration on what games to pick up for my PSP. Just got the SBK superbike game tonight and considering a copy of Split/Second. Own most of the other games in this video already too. Edit: pulled the trigger on Split/Second. Can't wait to try it!
I know this video is 3 years old and you most likely won't ever see this (or maybe you figured it out by now), but the key to sim motorcycle racing games is braking way earlier than you would with a car. You pretty much need to double the distance.
NFS Carbon own the city, what an amazing soundtrack, characters and art design. TDU, an incredibly chill and expansive experience. Burnout, with its insanely hilarious mechanics. Midnight Club LA Remix with its super satisfying feeling and sounding vehicles, motorbikes and interesting use of light verticality in its map design. Juiced Eliminator with its brutal "quickly pull the battery out before I lose this pink slip race" and hyper detailed tuning. Gran Turismo with its painstaking dedication to race simulation.

Love a PSP video! One of my favorite consoles, and definitely has great racing games. I finally got to play outrun thanks to your recommendation and you're right, very fun racer
Hey Metal Jesus, great seeing a special video dedicated to racing on the PSP. About a year ago I bought my first PSP as I was missing console gaming living temporarily having moved from Sweden to the UK that was gradually becoming more and more permanent. A year has passed and yeah, inspiration around that time with your hidden gems videos and buying guide got me to the crazy point where I now have 7 PSP systems and around 220+ games. Racers are close to heart and the PS2 era was my joy so collecting for the PSP was a really fun time for me. I got obsessed and looked for all the racers I could find. Then came the dilemma, what is a racer so I had to redefine and went to games that are an actual race or where the car owns a central role. Not sure anymore as I guess you have the same struggles there. Is Pimp my ride a racer? Is Ssx not? Here is a list of some in my collection that I was either surprised to find or had to splash some green for that are not mentioned in your video. Cart Kings: Indian kart racing game using an actual bull and cart. You can change bull, cart and racer. Kind of stereotypical, would not say it is worth it unless you stumble upon cheap. Ape Escape Racing: Not sure of the game title as it is a Japanese import but a racing game featuring Ape escape with some strange driving mechanics. Not played enough to give a good enough review. Just to list some more as I am writing on my phone. Pacman world rally Shrek Smash n Crash Racing Ford Street Racing LA Duel Off Road (Land Rover/Ford) Micro Machines v4 Pocket Racers The fast and the furious Twisted Metal Head on A mixed bag as can be expected but found myself really sucked into off road which judging the cover is surprising. I am missing a lot of easy to pick up titles, not keen on ATV, bike and rally games. They are also cheap and readily available so not to concerned. My collection of racers is around 55-65 games depending on what you define as a racer and I believe it is somewhere around 80+ racing titles that I have found when searching. Gotta catch em all coz it sure beats Pokemon. ;) Thanks again for your videos, without them my now vast handheld collection would never exist. All the best from one metalhead to another! /Alex
oh yes, this brings me back... the good ol days of grinding credits in grand tourismo on test track in a Veyron, drifting on dirt tracks in the puke-got, holding on for dear life around corners in an F1 car, taking flight in the very same F1 car, loving the ford GT and having way to many of them, crashing into every corner with the Veyron because the dam thing can't turn, oh yeah those were the days...
