    • @gozinta82
      @gozinta82 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @bee boo I wouldn't go as far as saying that Sega has 0 business making MK games on two levels. 1. They didn't make it. Probe was responsible for porting it. 2. The 32X version did everything the SNES version did and more. Also, the original MK on the genesis smashed the SNES version in sales in big part due to it being the only version that kept blood and full fatalities intact. I grew up with Nintendo products as a kid and had friends who had Sega Genesis's. I think both are good in their own regard; because Sega released the Genesis a few years before the SNES, and it's schedule was very different than all of the console manufacturers at the time. For what the Genesis lacked in tech, it made up for fairly well, and while it may not have been up to par with some SNES games, Sega's versions were still very impressive and had that "Sega" feel to it. Something that can't be translated today, you'd have to be alive during the time to understand what it meant because back then, consoles weren't just iterations of the same thing. They had entirely different video, sound and input setups in comparison to the cookie cutter layout that's been used since the SNES. Both are respectable as consoles at the time. Each had it's pros and cons.

    SNES had double the RAM of Genesis. That alone was one of the biggest factors why many ports had more details to show. If you add to that the color pallete most games had better color presentation as well. SNES was a beast.

    • @AzatisS
      @AzatisS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@NinjaCacodemon_IsSus incorrect. The SNES was designed to be an incomplete motherboard where the cartridges provided the extra RAM, graphics, and full integrated use of the Sony S-SMP sound chip on the system. This allowed the SNES to upgrade itself without having to buy hideous and overpriced add-ons.
      Regardless of the (very small) two year difference between the release dates, the Genesis was already obsolete when it came out because of an even older 16-bit system: the TurboGrafx-16, which was superior as well. Sega rushed the Genesis out to get a head start on Nintendo, which history has already proven was a massive mistake.

      Thankfully, there are now hacks to vastly improve the Genesis version: MK II Unlimited brings over a lot of the arcade presentation, with bios, vs screens, intro and outros along with playable bosses and a ton of other changes, a lot of which are optional, and there is a color hack to improve the graphics.

      Yeah, I can definitely say that playing the genesis versions of the MK games had their own feel, and if one was able to play it on the 6 button, it was really good for it's input speed. I had the SNES version and I was pretty used to the setup due to having SF II: Turbo, but it was still a slight more sluggish than the Genesis as far as input reaction if I remember correctly. Imakaze First, Sega's controller is normally a 3 button layout. No matter how you feel about the D-Pad, that is going to be a factor. With it being default even if you have a 6 button made playing the game perfectly tedious to do each time you turn it on.

      At that point the PlayStation was out and MK3 played pretty much spot on to the arcade whereas the SN, while being a good port, had trouble with things like multiple floors on levels - the arcade and PSX scrolled between them but on SN they had to fade to black and then fade into the next floor as a whole new screen as it just couldn't do it. The Genesis version doesn't hold a candle to the SN version IMO... but to not include PSX at that point would be har5d to do and it was so much better there's really nothing to compare.

      You implied I was "special" which prompted a like response from me (saying things like that has a way of agitating people). Had you started with your work in the first place this conversation would have gone alot differently. You do not get to insult people and have them not respond in kind.
      I also did quite a bit of skirt chasing in college (I got one as I am engaged) quite successfully I might add. She is a professional and a gamer like me. We do not need any of your Wii's, we actually built a home arcade complete with MVS Candy Cab's and every console from the Atari 7800 to multiple Xbox One X's, Switches, and PSPRO's.
      You make some claim about Sega fans being poor...right. When I was growing up I had a Sega Genesis/ Sega CD/32X, Snes, 3DO, Atari Jaguar and my first PC build (486DX2) before I moved out into my first apartment. Consequently, the Sega CD at the time cost more than anything Nintendo had to offer back then...so you are objectively wrong. Did you forget that Sega manufactured 6-button controllers that sold well...again objectively wrong.
      Lastly, I find your "argument" to really be all over the place. Further you use ad-hominem attacks like "pussy blind justice" (I have no idea what that is) and tell me to ask people at Williams about you...are you off of your meds perhaps? Yeah, this has been awfully entertaining let's do it again sometime.

After watching this comparison, I would agree that the SNES port is better. The attention to detail is very good. Also, the extra level for the SNES and moving background elements just proves how much more power and memory the SNES had. The Genesis version played fine for me, but I had no idea of the other side!

      Snes actually had LESS power, it just had a better dev in charge of the programming. Theres a fan hack of this that adds in most of the missing features and more and changes the colours to be less ugly.

    Both are crap but SNES was superior. It’s now 2019 - just play the arcade rom for free through MAME. Mk2 is the best game in the series.

    The Mortal Kombat series was never meant to be kid-friendly/family friendly. The MK series is about nothing but brutal murder. And by the way, I recommend the PSN/XBLA re-release version of MK2 because it is 100% accurate to the arcade version.

      Console Wars you know, there are some people who only phrases nintendo (even when the SNES port is worse than genesis port)and insults sega, even without any reasons sometimes. They makes me feel really bad.
      loving nintendo is fine, but there's really no reason to insult sega and its fans.

    One of my top 10 Console Wars episodes. Can I recommend MK Trilogy Sega Saturn vs Nintendo 64 ? Can't wait for a 4th MK Console Wars if possible.

    For me, the fact that the Genesis does show a proper ending would be a dealbreaker. Imagine going through all that hard work to beat the game, only to have a text ending.
