- truly the worst situation: no badges (0 KO) against 4 strong players who had all the badges and doing 4w. yet by some miraculous attempt, i managed to survive for 11 minutes before finally going down.
this was a crazy amount of damage received, and the garbage luck honestly helped me in surviving this long. i could've also shifted into 4w mode near the end of the game, but the fatal misdrop was pretty much a game over. sad, this would've been even more of an insane game than it already is!
but i usually mess up much faster than that, so i guess i'll thank my consistency for keeping me alive. :') - เกม

wish id been able to spectate this match as it was happening, i fully thought you could win right up until the end
The only reason why this feels more possible to do than a straight 1v1 is because while Doremy lacks badges, he instead has attacker bonus from having 3 attackers. (...of course Doremy would still have to do the 1v1 had he succeeded but still...)
EDIT: of course being on solo team is harder cus of the higher amount of time spent clearing garbage

OMG, I have watched this video a lot of times, but never paid attention to who were those 4 rivals, and now I can see they were three of the best T99 players at that time, I couldn't even survive 5 seconds to that.
This is still really fun to watch. 3 years later. I'm sad tetris 99 isn't as popular anymore though

In Tetris 99, the garbage gets sent through the bar on the left of the matrix (or where the pieces are placed) when garbage gets sent, it goes through a few warning phases before actually sending it, when the blocks are flashing red, that means the garbage will be sent the next tetrimino you place without clearing a line. The garbage queue in Tetris 99 unlike other Tetris games, can only hold up to 12 lines of garbage at once, so if the queue is full, any further garbage sent never is actually given to the player being attacked. So by stalling when the queue is full, you get sent less garbage lines overall, this strategy is very useful when you are in a much weaker position like Doremy in this 1v4.

I'm' sure this is a noob question, but what is the strategy behind rotating the blocks for so long when things speed up?
1. Garbage rises when a block is placed without clearing the line.
2. The maximum number of garbage lines is 12, so more than 12 firepower is wasted.
3. Enemy firepower is thrown away, and Doremy attack has maximum efficiency.

Whats the advantage in spinning blocks and stalling time?
Is it related to garbage coming in? Is there a maximum of receivable garbage so stalling does stop more garbage from coming in?
Or is spinning and stalling just to get on your opponent's nerves and to get extra time to think about what to do with your next 6 pieces in the preview?
late reply but yes, there is a garbage limit. If the bar is full, even if his opponent sends more attack, the garbage queue amount remains the same. also, garbage can be stalled if you clear at least 1 line, hence why he sometimes chooses to clear only 1 line instead of multiple one, so he can stall. A bonus advantage is to have more time to think like you said, some advanced players look at the next few coming pieces and think about where to put them very quickly
