Same, parappa and lammy are my favorite rhythm games with cute and fun characters and storylines that fit in cartoons, and I love it like FNF, but i kinda like PaRappa better ngl.

@@curaphix yeah as far as I know, parappa 2 used to have a vs mode similar to UmJammer Lammy but it was changed to the vs mode we have now.

5:14 This is because the "That's because you gotta do it again" from the unused audio only makes sense in the ending of the song, so they made it just "You gotta do it again".
Though they could've used the unused audio for the ending and the current audio for failing while still driving.

5:35 is kinda surprising that they switched it to the one used now bc the unused seems to fit the rest of the song better, it sticks with the rhythm scheme a LOT better

There is literally no reason not to use the because one. It sets it up like a gotcha line. Considering there are other single words getting cut from the game for space issues. That seems likely.
@@YuyuHakurei I think the unused one would be used only when you complete the level in “bad” rating, and the used one for “awful”. But I guess they didn’t have enough space.
@@nuttyboy23231 Ya I don't know how much effort they would have put into it to be different between when you fail midstage. They do cut a lot of corners in other levels, but that could also be due to space issues.
You might be able to blame the odd dialogue from time to time completely on these space issues. While the game was really fun the writing is lacking due to odd moments at times. It does feel like a lot is missing to fill silence at times.
One small thing that wasn't mentioned: In the first game, the word "frosty" was removed from the opening cutscene for the psp/ps4 version in the US because of Wendy's copyrighting the word.

10:06 Actually, the unused version of the awful stage 8 music is found somewhere else. When PaRappa stands over stage 8 in the level menu, a music box version of the track plays! It’s my favorite of the music box songs.

@@SobrietyandSolace I'm glad you like Vib Ribbon as much as I do. When I first learned about Vib Ribbon's existence, It first blew me away being able to play music while the game wasn't in there and yet still playing the game. It didn't occur to me cuz all throughout my life I was told never take the disc out of the ps1. Anyway I love playing Daft Punk's Discovery album. Still one of my favs.
FNF likely had nothing to do with Parappa being popular again. That is probably entirely to do with the ps4 version. Though the ps4 version is worse than the original release of the game. It did get people to play it en mass on release. It's just not a long game so people probably platinumed it in a day. xD

i remember really getting into these games in like 2017 and then in 2020 i fell off it hard. nice to see it getting more attention again though!!!
Interesting that in the concept art Parappa was still three-dimensional, they didn't have the whole paper cutout aesthetic set in stone for the characters yet.

the one about the stage 2 failure thing, its because you can also fail in the middle of the level, so it would make sense to go "we stopped the car because you gotta do it again" it wouldnt make sense if you lost in the middle of the level and it said something like "turn to the right because you gotta do it again"
