    My favorite lure for heavy rain is the buzz bait. Can't beat those strikes

      Best thing to do on those conditions is stay home!! Lol. If it’s a tourney and u have to fish it, what I do is fish very tiny baits, finesse, dropshots, ned rig with the lil ned craws or ned rig with the tiny little ned swimbaits and swim it slow and kill it, etc. also id try and fish any docks or shade lines.

      Around michigan we have alot of that. I'm the kinda guy that fishes almost exclusively power techniques. But when those Conditions appear i bring out the ole spinning rod. 1/4 oz popper. Spybait. Very small jerkbait. Ned rig. We fish carolina rigs with a z man ned style bait. Floats slowly with the right hook. Drives them crazy

    Wish I would have known this last year. Pre-fished Saturday for a Sunday tournament. Tore them up on Saturday. Midnight to 4 in the morning heavy rain. Sunday I couldn't pay a bass to bite. Good stuff Randy.

    Thanks to Randy, I caught my first jerkbait bass today by following his advice. 🥳
    A 2lb smallmouth on a Sexy Shad, Vision Jr. out of Shoal Creek near Joplin. Not big, but my very first on a jerkbait.
    I waited long enough and saved enough to buy his recommended MB Whipsnake, it casts the Vision Jr. a mile!
    It's a beautiful rod. Thank you Randy. 🤓

    Enjoyed the fact that you mentioned Charlie Campbell and his expertise with top water baits. One thing I remember about him is the single bladed spinner bait called the CC Spinner. It was a 1/2 , 5/8, oz single, oversized extra cupped Colorado blade that really shook the rod tip from the vibration it caused.
    They no longer Make this bait any more but I slew the bass with it until I ran out of them. They worked best in the late fall through the post spawn . They would work most of the year but best as I mentioned. Thanks!!!!!

    Yeah in my experience thunder and lightning scares fish to cover like you said. If theres no thunder and a good short rain it gets oxygen in the water and gets them active. Also if its a warm rain when water is colder, or a cool rain when water is really hot; fish will get up where theres flow ins and water falls created by runoff. And if theres a mud line forming from rising creeks going into lakes…..fish will use the mud line as cover and an ambush spot……u can fish the mud line with a spinnerbait and be successful. Great vid randy

    We have a robin here today also, just outside STL. The weather has been great for melting off the ice on the local lakes here, finally. I don't have a favorite rain bait yet. All I know is the fish are as wet as we are. Pitch heavy cover and slow down on the bottom, got it. Thanks for the video Randy.

    Maybe you can explain why Megabass lures are so expensive. They're sometimes 3 times as expensive as many Rapala and Bagley lures, and I remain unconvinced they would catch 3 times as many bass as those name brand products.

    • @brandoncarter9047
      @brandoncarter9047 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Megabass makes very quality lures. Love the deep x line love the jerkbaits. I still have a place for other brands and at times other brands out preform but if it's a tough bite a megabass jerk bait has my confidence when all else fails. There is alot of fine tuning with megabass products. I can't say I'm happy about the price but alot of people are willing to pay it for good reason they flat catch fish.

      @@cheezuscrust7730 Keep in mind, I am aware the 110 is at the top of the jerkbait market for a reason. I can almost guarantee you don’t fish jerkbaits very often if you think that the 110 is the only money jerkbait. There’s no arguing with someone who covets the vision 110, you just use others experiences from word of mouth without providing your own objective insight on why its better than the competition. The market is vast and you are LOSING money if you ONLY throw a vision 110, i have no issue with people having a favorite jerkbait backed and tested by time but stop trying to shame people for not being fooled into thinking you can’t smoke em on anything but a 110…

    Right breakdown saguaro lake Az or lake pleasant. Hardest lakes to fish here. Sag just skunks everyone or catch 8lb giants. Pleasant super clear huge Colorado river lake hard to find the fish. Sparse fishing never produces numbers.
