Thank you for making this nice, Norm. Too many jump straight on their moral high horse over fish in cycling and that’s of no use to someone in the middle of one with possibly their first ever tank.
See i did this with all my tanks and got told I was wrong youri still don't understand testing so much other than you don't want ammonia or nitrite. I just set up 5 new tanks and just used water from my 75 and 55 and dirty filter media. And used enough tank water to be as if these new tanks got a 50% water change. Then added fish and plants right away. It's been 5 days and everyone's great. Wondering if this is considered starting a new tank or sorta like "transplanting" a tank or cycle so to speak. Idk if that's a thing but thought I'd ask. 😅
I've got 2 well established tanks.. or did.. until I bought fish out of petco amd the their fish diseased my tanks. >>one had ich.. another one colunaris
Okayyy. Sooo, my cycle crashed and I'm doing a fish on cycle. Nowww... ive followed the steps, and watch 'trites and trates. They were present. Now I'm back at zero with them but still habe 2.0 ammonia.. water change?
I feel like I've had a fish science lesson with Dr norm lol. Will say nutrafin cycle is recommended for sure. I always started my tanks with this stuff
My ammonia. Norites are stillll 0. >>this isn't a new tank. It's been established for 4 years so it's already gone through the nitro cycle. But after so many water changes, I ended up get an ammonia spike. I did a 50% water change, added my volcanic rock back, used nutrafin annnn waiting for my tanks to be healed do I can add fish again. 😒😒

Succinct review. Never had to do a fish-in cycle before, glad to have the info to be sure I'm doing it right. Thanks Norm!
Thanks for the content gave a lot more clarification as I’m jumping into the hobby and multiple tanks are starting to find their way in the house 😂
Glad to hear it helped, I try to keep it simple so everyone understands.
Starting the first tank is the hardest, to start a new tank use a cycled sponge filter.

I'm a tiny bit confused. You wait for Nitrites to appear and only then start testing for Nitrates? And then the water change is dictated by Nitrites?

Follow the fish in cycle AND MAKE SURE you’re double dosing Seachem prime every two days to keep the fish safe
Thanks!
My local walmart was out and pet advantage closed so I order off amazon. Fingers crossed my few surviors will be good until it gets here.

Great clip!
I'm at between .5 and 1... is that a good reading?
What’s that parameter from?

That’s not good at all, it’s needs to be zero. The smallest amount can kill.
@@cookiesfishroom should I add more nutrafin and prime?
