The DIY C02 systems are so nostalgic for me, I might need to run one again just to experience it again. It was so fun to manage one in my dorm room in college
@@FlowstateAquatics I’m really enjoying running it. I have mine in a tank where I keep extra plants. I’ll probably expand to other aquariums. I hope you set one up again. I hope you subscribe to the channel. Thanks for commenting.
Excellent video. I’m going to get that. Thanks for explaining.
Seems simple, thanks for the info!
Great video! thanks for sharing. Ive always wanted to do that. Your video makes me want to get started.
Glad you like my video. I hope you try it out.
I use sugar , backing soda and warm water. After a hour you will see the co2 coming out 😁
@@yamirpoke2616 how long does it last?
Its Good initially for 1 or 2 days max. You have to restart the process again. Instead get an used fire extinguisher and add a solenoid. Which will be half the cost of regular one.
Mine just keeps going. I do have it at a low output and I turn it off at night. That’s a great idea with the fire extinguisher. I’ll give it a try. Have you done it?
@@AnimalJeff-lh7fh Yes i personally had. To be honest the capacity is higher than Regular Aquarium cylinder. Try for the used Cease fire Liquid co2 Cylinders.
Awesome video
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you liked it and I hope you subscribe!
I wonder if there would be a way to expand it to like in two buckets that connect to multiple tanks
I’m sure you could. If you do something like that let me know how it turns out.
@ only thing I could think of off the top of my head are Y connectors to tubes, but the levels would probably be different and lower
Good morning! Can u do a update video on how your live aquarium plants doing?!
Can u put a link on where u brought the 2 plastic bottles at?
Yes I’ll definitely do an update after it has been a while. I already see some improvement in a week. The bottles are 2 liter soda bottles. I don’t drink soda myself but I literally found them in the trash lol. Thanks for your comment and I really hope you are subscribed!
@ so this DIY co2 system you have to Manuel turn on and off right?
@@coolwater411 Yes. I turn mine off in the evening. It’s really easy to do. When the lights are off the plants don’t use c02 so it’s a waist to leave it on.
I’m speaking of the one I have linked in the description. There are other types so I can’t really speak to them.
@@AnimalJeff-lh7fh I’m getting the exact one u have in your video! I got into planted tank for aquarium in 2015 and I FREAKING LOVE IT and i noticed without co2 live aquarium plants thrive, but co2 really help them like in their natural environment!
U fill your 2 liters soda bottles all the way to the top and how long it last?
Co2 is not necessary of you have soli under the sand in the aquarium as furtiliser and skip vaterchanges.
Yes dirted tanks grow plants very well. I’ll start a tank like that soon. And make a video about it. Thanks for the comment. I hope you subscribe.
The principle of operation doesn't make sense to me. If bottle B is the reactor vessel, how does the positive pressure it produces enable citric acid to automatically flow from bottle A?
I wasn't to sure myself so I did a little research and this is what I found. Also thanks for the comment. Great question.
How Liquid Moves Between Bottles
The movement of liquid is controlled by pressure differences in the system:
Triggering the Reaction:
You squeeze Bottle A to push some citric acid solution into Bottle B.
When citric acid enters Bottle B, it reacts with the baking soda, releasing CO2 gas.
Pressure Build-Up:
The CO2 gas builds pressure inside Bottle B, which pushes liquid from Bottle B back into Bottle A through the connecting tube.
Cyclic Reaction:
As pressure equalizes between the bottles, the process stabilizes, and the chemical reaction continues at a steady rate, producing CO2 gas.
@@AnimalJeff-lh7fh Ah, so both vessels end up being reactors.
It’s a form vitamin C. Citric acid is a form of vitamin C
Thanks for the comment. I hope you are subscribed!
How long that 2 liters soda bottles co2 last u?
Do u run your co2 24/7?
They are lasting me a little longer than 2 weeks. I shut mine off at night. And I don’t turn it up high when using it. And my plants are doing great. Thanks for the question and I hope you are subscribed
@ I did how high can u turn it up?
@ I have a bubble counter in my diffuser. It’s the one I link in the description if you want to get it. It’s cheap and works great. I do a bubble every 1.5 seconds approximately
Hey new subscriber here from the dominican republic.
Quick question
The only place i have is in the rack under the aquarium. Is that ok or does the system have to be higher up?
Thank you
@@simonasfluidart1663 welcome to my channel. Thanks for subscribing. That should be fine. No real reason to have it up higher.
@AnimalJeff-lh7fh thanks so much. I'll install the system today. Fingers crossed it'll help my struggeling plants
@@simonasfluidart1663 yes it should. I keep mine pretty low so it lasts longer. I also turn it off at night. I hope you get great results.
@@AnimalJeff-lh7fh thanks so much😊
@@AnimalJeff-lh7fh thanks so much
Can't you just add sparkling water to the tank?
Yes you can. I hear it works well. If you have fish in the tank you have to be careful bc it can kill them if you put too much in. Do the proper research first. Thanks for the comment. I hope you are subscribed.
Have you ever done that? If so I’m curious about your results.
@@AnimalJeff-lh7fh
Seems a controlled experiment is in need...
That's stupid. It will cost you 10 times as much as a co2 bottle refill.
Is that an April's fool joke or something?
It’s just another opinion for people to try. The bottle and setup is a bit expensive and this is cheap option to get started. I have both and I use this method all the time.
Exactly it’s cheap to get started. What a mean spirited comment some people are so rude to others. Keep up the good work. I love your videos
Thanks for watching. Thanks for the kind comment. I’m glad you like the videos!
