See i did this with all my tanks and got told I was wrong youri still don't understand testing so much other than you don't want ammonia or nitrite. I just set up 5 new tanks and just used water from my 75 and 55 and dirty filter media. And used enough tank water to be as if these new tanks got a 50% water change. Then added fish and plants right away. It's been 5 days and everyone's great. Wondering if this is considered starting a new tank or sorta like "transplanting" a tank or cycle so to speak. Idk if that's a thing but thought I'd ask. 😅

How much salt should I use to help cure epistylis? I have an Angelfish that has developed it around its eyes in the last two days, and unfortunately, I have found that Angelfish do not last very long with this condition.

If you use easy life do you need to use prime as well?

I know this was a while ago but my betta has what I suspect to be the beginning of columnaris. I have him on a kanaplex and nitrofuranzone treatment right now. I dont want to stop that treatment until complete, but this is a bath right? So I could have his regular hospital tank with kanamycin and nitrofuranzone, and then take him out and give him a bath? Only thing is stress I'm worried about. Also this has caused a secondary swim bladder issue. Also going to spot treat with methylene blue. I was also debating a small dose od aquarium salt to help with the swim bladder... but thats a lot of treatment. Really sucks when theres so many options but you dont know whatll work :( in your opinion what should I do?

Good advice, Norman. What concentration of aquarium salt would you recommend? When using amoxycillin, how much to use per litre? You say 500mg per day but we all have different sized tanks. Thanks.

Sending you my thanks also cookie! Kept aquariums for many years, always quarantined, but never medicated. Mostly due to lack of information and the ‘ fear ‘ around it of it being ‘ hard ‘ on the fish. I successfully finished my first medicated quarantine on some glow light tetras. Not only did I not loose a single fish, they were that successful and obviously happy throughout the process, that the morning after they were placed in the display tank, they were spawning and egg scattering. Can I quarantine nerite snails In the same container as guppies?

PP will kill all beneficial bacteria so if you have to treat the whole tank, be ready for ammonia & nitrite spikes while cycling again. Also it lowers oxygen levels a lot so make sure u add more air. If you see any fish gasping for air, be ready with the right amount of hydrogen peroxide to neutralize it immediately. Us koi folk are very familiar with PP

Pea puffers you almost have to feed bloodworms since they’re so picky. In addition to snails of course.

Good stuff Norm I used the PP along side the other meds when i QT'd my new cardinal tetra with suspected columnaris, I say suspected because its not 100% unless swabbed for i guess. But as you know ( we discussed) it worked a treat I got the majority of the group (lost 2) through and the rest are now in my DT happy and healthy for weeks.

Thank you SO much for this guide! Sulfaplex isn't available where I'm from, so it would be nice if there was an alternative. I'm also having trouble sourcing tetracycline. This video deserves much more visibility, considering how important it is to quarantine snails as you've said. Thanks again!

I'm currently dealing w/septicemia - 2nd guppy female showed the red spots today. Can septicemia spread to inverts? I also have bamboo shrimp & a pink Sakura Clarkii crayfish in the tank. Can inverts carry septicemia?

Hey. Would the maracyn oxy work for dropsy or is that a different medication. Looks like id have to order it but really wanna start treaments asap :(

Maracyn 2 isn’t available in the UK.. is there an alternative? My fish has had dropsy for 6 days now🥺
