    Two Main Things:
    1) KEEP the current four member lineup.
    2) Release a full album WHILE they still have the popularity right now.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  ปีที่แล้ว +31

      1) is easy and surely DR Music sees the reception to keep things as is. 2) might be a bit harder considering their still a relatively small company. Start off with mini albums and we'll see if they can maintain that consistency before bumping to full album. I mean Blackswan's debut was a full album and that was mainly rehashes of Rania's music

    I definitely think BlackSwan has improved from where they started . They can definitely be big if they play their cards right because their strength is that they are different and non Korean. As far as Fatou getting more solos, she speaks Korean better than her members and she’s established her presence more than her other members so it makes sense that she would have more projects because she’s promoting the group at the same time. As far as Leia, she just needs to go away. She was WAY to unprofessional and catty while also jeopardizing the groups hard work to really put themselves out there.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  ปีที่แล้ว +52

      Blackswan has for sure progressively gone better with each comeback. Music wise for sure. Can't say member wise because only Fatou has consistently made the comeback to show her improvement. The whole being able to speak Korean better kinda speaks to the training that the other members have gotten and so yea hopefully they do get to improve with that. However, most or even all of Fatou's solo work is in english too so not sure about that. But yea, Leia kinda provides not much value anymore which was such an unfortunate move for DR to just keep her still if they weren't even gonna utilise her.

    The current line up is the best. Ofc it’ll be harder for them to be recognized in Korea but if the company promotes them more overseas there’s potential for their success. The problem is that graduation sht. It’s utterly useless and won’t get the group the exposure they need. Hyemi was my bias but she left and Leia was the problem. It’s all about great management and I don’t have high hopes for it.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Yea, that graduation thing doesn't make sense to me. Like what makes you qualified for graduation?? It surely can't just be contract renewals because then they should call it that. Plus Judy and Fatou joined at the same time too so it can't be that or Fatou would have left too. Plus would graduating be forced based on criterias because if anyone was to graduate next, it would be Leia and Fatou as they are the most senior within the group and I'm not ready to see any news of Fatou graduating.

    I love Blackswan and I wish to see them succeed so badly but it is truly upon on how they're handled by the company. If they keep releasing music such as Karma/Cat & Mouse in a timely manner, and promote as much as they've been doing in this comeback they'll do great! My opinion on Leia is just like everyone else, kick her out. She has done more harm then good and adding her back would just be weird and I'm pretty sure no one would like it. And lastly they need to keep this lineup!!!!! No adding or subtracting anybody, they have so much potential and I believe adding more members would just be a bad look since they have a stigma for changing members like the seasons. They made a few good moves with the two popular korean shows they were on but that's about it, they leave too much up to the fans and just the pure luck of fancams going viral ect. I'm happy they're getting bigger but management still needs to step up I think, they have great chemistry and are naturally entertaining and charismatic but the company also has to make a conscious effort to promote them. Even something as small as posting more on social media could do a lot for them. And also timing of comebacks, I understand they were busy this year and actually suspect there's big things we don't yet know of but a comeback that utilises the exposure they gained this year when it was at its peak could have done sooo much for them.

    I don't know if with this lineup (which has had a fairly good welcome) they'll go to yearly hiatuses. That Karma was waaay more than I expected, not only as a song, but in the performances , especially the live ones. Maybe they'll add more members, I feel like that's the direction DR Music is going to take, but if the company has trainees that they want to add, they'll have to be at the same level that the members are.

    Side note: I really think they need to hire better stylists and HMUA's that specialise in styling non-koreans. I get that kpop has a specific "look", but copy pasting those looks on these girls who are beautiful and diverse, doesn't do them justice! There's so many innovative hairstyles to try out with black hair for example, if they hired the right hairstylists to execute it. I agree with much of this video but I do have issues with the foreign members remark as one of the "problems"
    The whole situation seemed rushed I agree, but with the members being foreign or Korean shouldn't be a problem they just needed time to grow and they have. "labeling Foreign Members and as one of the issues is shady and I am assuming he truly meant no shade. AND The term "Authentic Korean Pop" is quite an oxymoron as Kpop is not authentically Korean but very heavily influenced from western pop and Black urban culture like Jpop is more western Rock.
    The world is seeing music as universal and everyone has the right to not only enjoy but also partake, especially if its taken from your true culture, connecting with it would practically be in your DNA. How can it be called foreign when the rhythm and base is what "foreigners" grew up with and their parents listened to.
    The system that needs to change is thinking that the effort of learning a new language (Korean) is a huge deal when there are English lyrics in Kpop songs and even some Kpop songs are done mostly in English with Sprinkles of Korean. I remember there was a time when many song were produced with really bad English yet English speaking fans gave love none the less. Selena was one of Latin America's biggest stars, but she only learned Spanish long after her popularity grew.
    We don't know the full reasons for the last two Korean members graduating but looking closely at the present BlackSwan "Be Unique" ..... this is exactly what this cookie cutter industry needs. Allow all Kpop artists to show their true talents without feeling they have to look like they were Xeroxed and spat out of a factory. Everyone is feeling the chemistry with this lineup and they are loving it.

      I think there is for sure a slight negative perception and apprehesion to foreign members within Kpop. It's way more worse if you can't completely camoflauge to appear Korean and so that's kinda what I mean in which there is a bit more work that is required. I feel like this should have been done within the training before debut but debuting them relatively quickly to get them to have this experience is also a viable option too.
      As for Authentic Kpop, I do understand how it's been influenced by many things and so it's not really an original concept, however, this is not the same perception seen within the industry, I mean we see so much cultural insensitivity happening within Kpop and there's almost this idea that they've formed their own niche which is why they're confident in determine what authentic kpop may be. The language seems to be a factor of consideration for authentic kpop as obviously kpop was intended to target Korean listeners which would have required them to understand what they were listening too. Overtime, it has evolved to the incorporation of english too. However, Korea is still relatively homogenous with it's way of thinking and experiencing things that limit their ability to perceive things in such an open-minded way to forgo a wide range of factors

    To me this is kind of a good era for them. The members and performances are great and the members seem like they like each other. But I do miss the other Korean members because I have been watching the group since debut and I know they were close too. I think the new members are great additions, especially Syria because she is EATING UP the live stages. I don't think they need Leia and I think the fans don't like her, so it would be awkward to add her back. If they add new members, I think it will be bad for the group, since most people enjoy this line up the most. I will support if the company isn't being absolute trash to them, but I think many people will leave the fandom if the lineup changes again.
    I am forever mad at them taking the FIRE RAP Fatou had out of the streaming version of Close to Me. I'm happy Fatou is getting her own solo music that is so different from the group's music because it means they are letting her fully work on her own music. Fatou is the most popular and probably most known and liked because she has been there the longest, and she is just relatable (and gorgeous and good at Korean), so I'm not surprised the company wants to push her because she is the face of the group at this point. If Fatou left the group, it would probably sink, unless they added a really surprising member to the group to get people's attention.

      This has defs been a good era because they seem to have more promotions, no big controversy has happened for them and they're getting more positive reception from the korean demographic which I feel like is a large demographic that they're trying to capture. Just really hoping that it translates into financial returns to give DR the clear sign to give them more comebacks. The whole member changes would be a terrible idea for sure but I just realised while replying to another comment; they have a graduation system which kinda gives the vibes that they might have constant line up changes to replace the graduated members.
      OMG, you're the first comment to mention this which absolutely makes no sense. Fatou's rapping was so much of a stand out during close to me that I don't get why they didn't include it. They whole instrumental kinda ruins the songs and makes it too empty which is why I'm hesitant to even stream the song. I'd rather stream it on youtube where I can jam to the second rap. Also glad, she's getting the opportunity to release her own music too. I wonder what her opportunities would be like post-DR Music though. Hopefully she kinda has many and doesn't feel confined to staying with DR Music just because they might be the only ones to support her.

    • @Molly-iw1rc

      @@cloudchungxiao DR Music probably uses the graduation system as a cover up so they can just switch the line up whenever they need to, which worries me for the group as well, it's really not a good system and just has never worked out, I think it's the only way they know how to say "we wanted to change the group again so we pushed out more members."
      Removing that rap was the most confusing choice, like you said, her rapping was a highlight of the song🥲 justice for that rap immediately. If I were Fatou, I would also be hesitant to leave DR Music for fear of lack of opportunity. BUT I am hopeful that if she releases enough solo music, some companies will see that she is hardworking and passionate about making her own music, and she has her own image. But you never know I guess, she might feel comfortable in the company because they are kind of relying on her to be the glue of the group. DR Music is a mess. like... blackswans music is really good but but they are still a group by dr music. i don't want to be a fan, 'cause they could randomly leave anytime. or get kicked out. or just go home and dr music doesn't notice (that really happened with one of ranias members). oh i hate it... i think their current lineup is pretty good but... once i blink, they'll change the lineup 3 times... i really hope they will stay in the group. i really hoped, the messy lineup changes would have stopped, when they finally let rania go but here we are... at least one member made it through 3 music releases...

    This video steps on its own toes in so many different parts but I’ll just say this their training period may not have been as long as others but they are severely outdoing their peers that have trained for much longer. Also until kpop embraces and learns from the different cultures it borrows from ON A REGULAR BASIS I don’t think any international idol should HAVE TO learn Korean

    • @cloudchungxiao

      When you say outdoing their peers, are you refering to peers on the similar debut times or just in general?
      As for learning the language, I mean they are in the KPop system and Korean environment, so it's kinda a necessity for them to learn the language. If they don't, well its real limited opportunities to promote and then who will they speak with because not all companies with have interpretors readily available to be by their side to do everything together. Plus the Korean demographic which would be the target audience would not embrace the idol at all if they're not showing any effort considering you can perform music anywhere so why come to Korea to become a kpop idol only to not learn Korean.

As far as their peers No idol raps like Fatou Few idols can dance like Sriya and even fewer idols can sing like Nvee that’s what I mean. As for your point, I mean they don't have to necessarily learn the language for sure, but it does hinder their abilities to target that same market that they're promoting in. I do know that Kpop has been heavily influenced by the outside markets and was not solely created from Korean culture, but that's not how the market or the industry will think and let Blackswan pass just like that. I mean if Fatou, Sriya and Nvee have the skill levels that you perceive, it surely should transcend and allow the group to thrive even better but it hasn't really. Not saying they can't get there but it'll still take time if they wanna go through an unconvential way because they would be creating their own mould that doesn't have a complete certainty of creating success for them

    Fatou writes/composes her own things, that's why the company let's her do her thing. There's also the language situation, because of the changes the new members were still learning korean. It was never a situation in which the company decided to put Fatou over the group, it was just a pretty obvious set of circumstances that affected the group. And even now with Karma korean are still saying their pronunciation is bad overall. You lost me a bit when you complained about that because anyone with 2 working brain cells can understand what happened and why. But other than that it was a decent video. I honestly don't see Blackswan around for much longer, maybe one or two comebacks. Without a korean member, they are doomed in Korea and the international fans are mostly latin-american kids with no real money to spend on them unless they pull a KARD-like move and start touring in latin america, other than that it'll be a lot of "go queens" and that's it.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah i get the fact that she wrote and composed her songs, but DR Music have the final decision to releasing all this music. So I thought even if it was not a mini album maybe releasing two single album each year would be nice for Blackswan to accumulate a discography since DR Music seems to only properly promote them in like the korean demographic whereas Fatou's solo was more underground and niche'd for the blackswan fans.
      The whole language thing was more in relation to not debuting early because of all these struggles that they can face. First with obviously korean reaction since that is the primary demographic that they are targeting. Second with the promotions which become limited because will they just solely rely on Fatou to speak about everything. Then third, just communicating with the environment in general. Like Korea is where they're at and so their surrounding will be a lot of Korean language and so being able to navigate when it comes to the behind the scenes thing too. Like obviously I know their circumstances have led to them not being able to speak korean as well but this is more DR who should have waited a bit to actually let them debut if their Korean wasn't at a passable level to interact with others.
      This comeback has been getting a lot more appreciation. It's the use of Korean that's getting them more legitness but we'll just have to see whether that's enough to get them attention and how much

I understand there are other foreign people in kpop like Chinese or Japanese Thai and stuff like that but it’s still Asian u know. They are like really foreign like they are not Asian at all. It feels more like American people singing in Korean. It just doesn’t feel Kpop Korean u know? I understand there trying to make it different with not always Koreans like Japanese and stuff but they just don’t really look right in Kpop. Yea, I kinda get what you mean but with the globalisation of kpop, kpop is going different places. I wonder what you think about english releases? Sounds like you think "american people" shouldn't be apart of Kpop which; an aspect of that is english. That means it must feel wrong when groups release anything in english because that's not Korean or Asian enough? Plus that might lowkey even mean no global promotions beyond Korea or Asia because wouldn't that be too foreign? Like they just would be out of place like you said if foreigners were to join kpop; surely same would apply if it were reveresed.
      Sriya is technically Asian but because of colorism, people don't qualify her as Asian. What is acceptable is generally east Asians that are light skinned because that's the beauty standard which is a prevalent thing within Korea. Kinda curious to see whether that's kinda your reasoning to the certain asian members that you are okay with?

    I don't see this group having any future in this very competitive industry, because the group, despite being from a Korean agency, practically has no Korean members anymore, "how can that be considered k-pop". dr music is trying to turn shreya into an aria, even though the aria phenomenon is something that happens every 1000 to 1000 years, as well as the resurrection of the brave girls after a decade, if the agency really wanted to take it all seriously in relation to the global market, they would have trained these girls in languages like Japanese and chinese, thinking of taking a slice of the Asian market in these two countries, they tried to make Rania debut in China and Japan but it didn't work, even more so singing in Korean , one of the reasons that doesn't make me think that they will never have lasting success is the fact that an idol is not made in months or 2 years, but in almost a decade of training, as any agency would prepare its future idol for many years. that's why dr music only wipes ice with each comeback, in my humble opinion.

      Yea, I mean we'll really have to see. They've started off well with this new line up and so hopefully they can build momentum. They've even got a tour planned this coming year in Asia which is a good sign of growing popularity. Not sure about how well they will thrive in Korea without a korean member but they are getting praised for their predominant use of the korean language in their music so that's a start.

      @@cloudchungxiao you are more than right, the least that these girls
      could present is to have some command of the native language of Korea, of course the fact that she fatou does better in this language, because she has been living in South Korea longer than the other members, this really impresses a Korean who sees a foreigner know how to communicate in their language, I think that dr music has to focus 90% on the international market, such as India, the country of one of the members, Japan and mainly China, which is a big market, and even the agency should have already put into practice language classes such as Japanese and Chinese, in the past they tried to debut rania in china and Japan singing in korean, but it went wrong and it was all a big mistake, now it could redeem itself in relation to these flaws, the Escrow agency of x:in is doing a great job in china with the hype of the success of aria, dr music should follow this example, it only remains to wait for the next steps.

      Can a white British guy rap and still be called a rapper? Can a Japanese DJ in patois and still be called a Reggae/Dancehall artist. Oh wait, do any Asian have the right to call themselves rappers and dance hip hop. Wait! ..... that is practically the entire Kpop industry. The injustice is ridiculous and stomach turning.

    • @johnvodianova7353
      @johnvodianova7353 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@prhapsody5197 you said it right is a mixture of everything, k-pop was born absorbing elements of american and japanese culture, american pop and hip hop, rapper along with japanese pop music mainly kawaii style very popular in this country, the difference is that the Koreans turned all this into something of their own, the agencies' training method in terms of dancing, singing and discipline is what impresses, all future idols take years to form.

      Hahaha that's alright. I don't think I necessarily portray them in a bad light. I just kinda use their past as a reference to where they've come from and kinda take each issue as a point on how they could move forward explained in my final thoughts. But yea, that title really attention grabby and misleading for sure.

    I see no problem with international fans being a fan of Korean pop and culture, but personally I do see a problem with Idol's that aren't Korean (yes even Asian one's) bc the fact that Korean pop isn't just Pop music in Korea, there's a lot of culture in Korea that is very important to Korean stans who at the beginning were the target audience, and for someone to see that and be like "yea I wanna be that too" it's kinda straining K-pop from being Korean pop, to just not be as how it originally stood for, and it's cool how artists start realising English versions of their song for their western audience, but with Japanese covers and now completely different races joining an industry ment for Korean ppl, it feels like K-pop isn't even K-pop anymore.

    • @luanasilva7341
      @luanasilva7341 ปีที่แล้ว

      And? So are Korean artist trying to break into Hollywood or the american pop industry, nobody told them they can't.
      There is Korean ground of pagode (very specify Brasilian music) nobody told them they couldn't reproduce it.
      Kpop is a huge mix appreciation and also straight up appropriation of a lot of things that do not belong to their culture.
      The industry of kpop becoming international was the best thing that could've happened to Korea, gave them a lot space, they intentionally tried to take the hallyu wave far and beyond , they saw a chance and took it,. This industry since long ago has not been just for Korean audiences, they could've kept if they wanted. It is only natural that people inspired by it would also feel like to participating in it. If it'll work for them, we don't know, but they do nothing wrong by simply participating like they once dreamed of they were tenager when kpop was being sold to them as something for them too.
      Western aren't the ones changing kpop, is the korean industry itself trying to become even more global and mainstream. Those are all Korean people work behind.

    • @cloudchungxiao
      @cloudchungxiao  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean what is Kpop? That is kinda question I posed in one of my videos. Because is Kpop having korean lyrics? going through the entertainment industry? being korean? There isn't a clear definition for it and I think as long as they kinda can follow the culture of how kpop has been; i don't see anything that wrong with it.
      You say that it's straining from Kpop if non-korean idols join but then wouldn't releasing english version make it not authentic as much anymore. Like that's catering to the western audience which why should they if the korean demographic is still the audience they target. Plus the second demographic that most groups will target is Japan clearly seen through most groups who release music in Japanese. That's been the standard which you think is wrong but also think english covers are alright?
      Obviously kpop can't remain the same completely. Like 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen and even 4th have their own aspect and elements that they focus on which people could complain about and think they new generation is not doing it just for the predecessor. However, there is almost an evolution to it which the whole global awareness and popularity for kpop has sorta aided in this transition to what kpop could be. But yea, defs just thoughts though.
