Yassssss I submmited my confession it's not really messy or juicy but I thought I would love to be in your video, love your vids and I'm excited for that vid lol
kpop stans often blur the lines of "criticism" and "hate" when it comes to female idols. this is sadly the case with jennie as well and as much as it pains me to admit it, wonyoung might be the next victim.
It's wonyoung stans fault coz they keep posting the strawberry video , plus most "hate" that I've seen under that video are pple saying the agyo she does is cringe .
Exactly, kpop stans don't understand difference between hate and criticism. They keep on sl5tshaming Jennie and harassing her and comparing her to other people rather than giving constructive critism that DOESN'T HURT OTHERS
As an IVE stan, I am terrified. I just hope the fandom isn’t heading in the same direction because of all the *irrational* hate Wonyoung and the rest of the girls are getting... and this is just the beginning. As Cheryl tied it all up at the end, this is a vicious cycle that starts with kpop fans and ends with them as well, it fuels itself because at some point, everybody is at fault but nobody wants to sit back and be rational anymore. Kpop is so self destructive.
I personally think it depends. IVE's international fanbase is much more laid back in comparison to netizens. A lot of my American friends know of IVE, but absolutely nothing about Wonyoung being a 'pick me' of whatever sexist insult they're degrading her with next. They think things like the strawberry incident blew over, or that she gets as much hate as your average thin pretty idol does. (And to be honest? That's probably more the case anyway and the media/fans are making it seem worse than it is. Who knows?) They know the entire group and have different favorites, but don't partake in the drama and believe it to be purely societal. In Korea, Liz is hardly existent and she got so much hate for her weight at first. And Rei is popular in Japan, but left out in Korea almost as much as Liz. The entire group gets such odd favoritism and yet a cold shoulder all at the same time by the Korean media. Of course I'm just some random person online. Maybe I'm wrong. I just noticed that international fans, or casual Korean listeners (not IVE fans, just like the songs) are very chill. Minus those that live their lives on tiktok. They're just awful and treat everything and everyone like trash. Idols get slandered on there like no tomorrow. TL;DR There's heavy reason for concern, but if you avoid places that slander idols, you won't be bothered by the behavior of said individuals. Support the girls and ignore the hate. That comes with fame.
I haven't watched the full vid yet but if our fandom rlly turns out this way, I wouldn't be surprised. Wonnie is receiving the same amount of hate as jennie right now and thats a new level, so many ppl are trying to paint her out as a a villain, its crazy 😭 Many ppl (including me) are rlly overprotective over wonnie and honestly, you can't rlly blame them? Alot of ppl say we are way to overprotective but with the amount of hate wonnie is getting, they can't rlly be speaking rn bc in reality, she has done nothing wrong 😭
Tbf yea I see wym because wonyoung gets so much hate that I won’t be surprised if we start seeing some nasty “clap backs” from dives, it’s like Kpop fans can’t understand how toxic fanbases form
I can't stand people who openly hate on her and say "no hate tho". you can criticize an idol but don't guise hate as criticism. Criticism is advice and suggestion for betterment not make the idol feel like shit.
@@UFO339it also be the blackpink fans that be doing this 💀 They will hate on jennie and Lisa for being to "westernised" and then praise Rosie and jisoo for sticking to their Korean roots, like bp fans are their own enemy 😭
I still remember the:. "Jennie slept eith YG" and "Jennie slept with Teddy" Assumptions. Solely because she was pushed more. Her skills were pushed aside.
I know i'm going to get hate for this but jennie IS indeed LAZY. Have y'all seen her born pink performances? And the fans that only show her good performances PROVE that she can actually perform good and with energy but she just chooses not to. The only reason she became a kpop idol is because of her rich family. In a interview she said and I quote "my mom had plans to move me to florida and then it hit me that i didn't want to live alone in another state but i actually wanted to be a singer in korea". So basically she comes from a wealthy/privileged family and had no previous rap, singing or dance experience before she decided on a whim to go do music in Korea. Got it. Without a doubt Jennie comes from serious money. Her mom had connections with the industry because she was/is a director and shareholder for CJ E&M, a South Korean entertainment and mass media company. This is not only the truth for jennie but also for the other members. Sorry not sorry.
Form what I've seen her fans take everything including valid criticism as hate, I've seen so Many actually valid comments criticizing her and her lazy dancing, her fans just pick and choose
@@FlladiEralda Over the past couple of weeks I've had my suspicions from vague comments about her mother that Jennie was a nepo baby. Thanks for clarifying!
this is what i love about your videos you tackle everything without spreading hate and specially being respectful..this was literally a masterpiece considering the topic
one thing i have noticed a lot is that the hero complex or savior complex is seen A LOT in kpop. i do think it ties back to infantilism, and it does have something to do with looks sometimes. take sunoo for example. the defensive fanbase surrounding him today started predebut, when iland was still airing. people said he was cute, presumably because of the way his face is more on the soft side. from then on, the infantilism started, with people assuming he can't deal with things himself.
I agree this shit has been happening with a lot of idols who look younger . Though bts is nearing their 30' their fan base still infantalises them though maximum fans are young enough to be their kids . But I don't blame fans since this is drilled into their heads as normal
this happens alot and I mean ALOT with maknae of the group. Fans expect the youngest of the group to act all cutesy and babyish. People love treating the "maknae" as a official position in the group. For example, fearnots love to baby eunchae bc she acts like how maknae is "supposed" to act but a few weeks ago, fearnots started attacking leeseo from IVE for not acting like a maknae, they said she was to mature!? This whole thing has to stop frr 😭
@@sb-jp2vw Right, they kept on praising Eunchae, calling her the best maknae of all maknaes, and even comparing her to other groups' maknaes. But isn't the term "maknae" simply meant to refer to the youngest member? Since when was it a personality trait? It's frustrating how K-pop stans try to stereotype all maknaes as cute and expect them to conform to that image, especially when many of them are between 14-17 years old. Not every maknae will want or need to act cute, but some refuse to accept that.
Some important info to add that maybe you don't know. Coming from a kpop fan since 2009, people have had an irritation for Jennie WELL before Blackpinks debut. She was probably the most famous trainee I've ever heard of during my time as kpop fan. All of BP were promoted in someway pre-debut but not to the extent as Jennie. She was known as YG's princess back in like 2013. Everyone knew her. Her photos, practice videos and name were pushed all over the place. She was in GD's music video and featured on both GD and Seungri's album. She even performed on inkigayo with GD (the most famous artist in kpop at the time) for his comeback with her full name in the title. That was insane for a trainee. Nowadays that would be like a random trainee performing with Jungkook for his solo stage with their name right next to his. That would just never happen. I vividly remember people on forums and comment sections get increasingly annoyed and sick of her because of how heavily YG pushed her when she hadn't even debuted yet. It also started the discussions on favourtism and nepotism that continue to this day. Like I remember seeing people asking YG to stop shoving her in their face. So yeah this annoyance people had for her stems deep so by the time she debuted a lot of people already had a distaste for her. Sad because obviously none of that was her fault and she was only a teenager at the time just taking all the opportunities given to her. Who wouldn't?
Not sure if what I say ads to your opinion. But the point that people got sick of Jennie, because she was not debuted yet and would not in 3 years. Just made pop one question in my mind. Was YG ever on time? Like Baby Monster is taking it's sweet sweet time, I heard Blackpinks contract was put into September (not sure if it is true). Born Pink was pushed back. The Solos... Like how are they part of the big 3 when their shedules are worser then that of a student who never does his work? Who works there? I mean right now I would say YG inability to plan, also caused Jennie a lot of hate. Like your comment kinda proved it.....
@@lucycarlay8547 YG has been late since day one. Blinks think this is something new but it's been happening forever! Idk why. I assume early on Yang Hyunsuk didn't really know how to manage artists being new to that side of the industry but the company has grown so much since then and hired a shiton of people that should know what they're doing but they might be even worse now. Yeah it's pretty shameful that a Big 4 company is so terrible at meeting deadlines. BP was first teased I think in 2012 lol. I've been hearing about Babymonster for years. 2ne1's comebacks were never on time. I remember when Winner debuted and Ikon was supposed to debut right after but they kept getting pushed back that the members talked about about constantly being dissapointed and crying seeing their peers performing while they were stuck in their dorms for years. Pretty much every solo artist that's been under them left. I mean look at Somi she's only just had her comeback after 2 years. It's crazy!!! I wonder if Jennie would've had as much hate if BP debuted earlier when YG said they would. She would've had a much nicer start at least.
@@mochibun3890 and then she got just under 10 songs .. like do they even work? They should change their Slogan to YG! We will never meet the deadline and dissapoint you always. Also shouldn't come BP songs the Girls come out last month? I mean I am not a fan of any YG group, but it makes me so angry that they do not get their shit together and I do not know why. I can understand if Blackpinks is not going to renew their contract, because their job literally never got a promotion, they did the same for 7 years. And I am also sure about Jennie getting less hate, because her teaser would have meant something
@@lucycarlay8547 Yeah I’m not even a fan but Blackpink should totally leave and go solo. They all have huge popularity so they’d all be successful on their own. Every artist under YG deserves better. Even the Bigbang members left are moving to The Black Label. Still under YG but not directly. YG need to learn to treat their artists better.
I think the problem with Jenny is that she doesn’t take the time properly to explain things like her physical and/or mental health. Which could be done by making a short social media post or having her company release a statement. Like I had no idea about that podcast with Dua Lipa until watching this video. It’s as if she keeps trying to make it like there’s nothing wrong which only leads to misunderstandings and needless hate from ignorant antis.
It’s draining to do all of that though. Maybe it’s hard for her to even speak on it because she did mention she felt like she disappointed her fans so I guess her speaking on it would still make others misunderstand regardless. After she did the pocast antis we’re still dragging her. No matter what Jennie does people gone hate.
@@oftenunsaid2175 of course it’s draining but that doesn’t stop other idols from doing it so why can’t Jennie? She’s a human like all of us and I’m sure people would be nice if she just showed that one in a while. Yes there will still be haters but it will be less if she just showed a little more of what she’s feeling so that people could relate to her.
@@mimijae9154 Because she doesn't owe anybody that. Her mental health is her business and the people she is close to. If Jennie wants to talk about her mental health that's up to her and her alone. She has talked about her struggles during the BP documentary on Netflix and people still used that against her. "It’s as if she keeps trying to make it like there’s nothing wrong which only leads to misunderstandings and needless hate from ignorant antis." She shouldn't have to prove anything to antis or be vulnerable for them when all they do is treat her like dirt.
@@PinBall0 right she doesn’t have to do anything… so fans like you shouldn’t complain when she starts to get hate when people misunderstand her situation cause how will anyone know for example she has health issues and that’s the reason she doesn’t put her all into their live performances… but no it’s no one’s business and I agree but then you can’t blame people for not knowing what’s going on with her and only seeing the bad side of her without explanation.
this is by far the most sympathetic but also nuanced video I have ever seen in the jennie hate train. While being in the idol is indeed wrong and questionable from her part, people forget how harassed and hated she was and still is and can't have civil discussions about her without resorting to extreme hatred or apologism.
It's very hard for them to tell the difference between hate and criticism anymore. Especially when channels like sultry film exist. Because the loudest people have used "criticism" as an excuse to hate on her so often, the people giving genuine criticism are also in that group according the Jennie solo stans. It's unfortunate, but that's how it is and how it's gonna be as long as Jennie stays an idol/celebrity.
That's teh problem. People are always on extreme ends due to problems they face within themselves ( being jealous , getting the hate out to feel better about themselves)
one thing i’ve noticed with her fanbase specifically is their unusual parasocial relationship with her. whether that’s diagnosing her mental/physical health or saying “she was having a bad day” after giving a lackluster performance, their rebuttals to any criticism is as if they actually know her. their reasonings for defending her is what THEY what to believe rather than the actual facts (confirmed by jennie herself). jennie also said on the podcast: “let me be the one to share me” and she’s right! let jennie be the one to share how she’s truly feeling and what SHE thinks.
This like Jennie stans are the biggest example of parasocial relationships to the point they act like they know her and if u give any criticism you will get dragged
Period plus her hate is more of her being lazy and her relationship with v THATS IS literally they are other idols like Lisa who gets so much hate for nothing like racism and the amount of hate her family gets is … to much . But what im saying is that Jennie is fine and she is having good career and everything.
Unfortunately her fans don't care what she thinks. From my observation her fans either see her as a pretty doll or live vicariously through her. Neither of which her personal thoughts or feelings matter.
yeah the taehyung jennie instagram thing was so bizarre, putting aside the weirdness of closely monitoring who idols follow on social media, people attacking jennie for something taehyung did was so crazy (and taehyung shouldn't have received hate either)
The people arguing that she doesn't deserve criticism because of the hate she has had to endure completely miss the point. Everyone should be available to face criticism, especially when they are some of the most famous people in the most famous groups in the world. The need to eliminate unjustified hate and the necessity to criticize are both statements that can be true at the same time, they aren't mutually exclusive.
Jennie stans are so odd to me, I’ve seen times where people are just straight up hating on Jennie and you barely see her fans calling those people out but as soon as someone is giving genuine criticism of Jennie then all her fans come and start attacking and then call it hate. I’m honestly surprised how much Jennie can get away with a lot of problematic stuff and that’s because of how much her fans baby her and support her blindly, it’s giving cult like behaviour 🫣 Then you get some of her fans that pick and choose when she’s an adult, when she’s doing something wrong or problematic then her fans say that she’s an adult and she’s allowed to do whatever she wants but then when it’s time that she faces criticism or consequences of her actions then her fans decide to forget she an adult and try convince us that she’s some helpless and innocent girl that doesn’t know what she’s doing.
I think the thing is criticism towards jennie also doesn't follow the path of morals When it comes to k pop the line is pretty blur between criticism and hate especially if it's someone like jennie Does she deserve criticism? Yes, she does Does she deserve to get called names or get slvt shamed over that? No she doesn't But when it comes to jennie it feels like people can't criticize her without hating or harassing her Also as it is said in the video that people are looking for things to hate on her ( which is true) it makes people phrase their words in more negative and hateful than actual criticism or concerns which make people take their actual criticism as hate and what I realize is especially what's happening recently is people disguising hate as criticism
hi! as a jennie stan, the only times I defend her is when ppl are being extremely unreasonable. for example, hating on her for her fit at met gala. yes, the fit might not look good to you but chill no need to start saying she's ugly for that. what rlly makes me upset is the slvtshaming she gets. I don't think I've ever seen any other idol get slvtshamed this much. it's like almost everything she does will just turn into her being a slvt, a whore etc.
One moment she is an adult and can do whatever she wants and the next moment she is a helpless puppet whose life is control and she had no hand in all the bad decision making
@@NA22427 Zendaya also praised him as most ppl did that watch Euphoria......don't pop a vein because you're not going to attack someone who's barley in it just because she has hella clout. It's giving bitter.
there’s one glaring thing you didn’t mention about jennie stans: their unrelenting obsession and gatekeeping of the “it girl” status. god help any other female idol in the running for that title.
@@katie-jh8gx jennie undeniably fits the “it girl” criteria, but it’s not a title that exclusively applies to her. there are other female idols with considerable influence and brand power who her stans mercilessly attack and mock for trying to “copy” jennie.
@@issaphae9659 From experience of dealing with Jennie Stan’s when Jennie gets discredited for the IT girl title which happens because there’s Stan’s who do the same thing that Jennie Stan’s do which is “IT girl” type. You can’t even put all the blame on Jennie Stan’s because Lisa Stan’s are way worse and think Lisa is the only It girl in the whole K-pop industry and that’s including EVERY solo Stan of any idol. To be honest not every idol has the impact Jennie and Lisa has though, just like how BTS are the ones who paved the way for K-pop.
@@oftenunsaid2175 nobody “discredits” jennie except for deranged solo stans in their own fandom. the rivalry between jennie and lisa’s fandoms is its own ecosystem that i have little interest in. i’m speaking for the unrelated female idols just minding their business and getting called copycats.
Surrounding Jennie’s ankle, there is something I’d like to briefly discuss. The fact that Jensetters use this injury to “defend” Jennie’s dancing is utter BS. Considering the injury was severe enough to warrant her taping her ankle and occurred while she was working out, I’m going to assume it was a sprain. Depending on the severity of the sprain, it could take two weeks to 12 weeks for it to fully heal. I don’t know the full story, but if Jennie was doing things like exercising, dancing, or wearing high heels (things that would put strain on her ankle), she risked permanent damage, which I think did happen. If YG forced Jennie to perform before she fully recovered, that’s its own issue (one that isn’t hard to imagine considering how companies tend to treat idols). But if Jennie chose to perform on her injured ankle before she’d fully recovered, that is on her, and she is now dealing with the results of her bad decision. Either way, she shouldn’t have been putting strain on her ankle before it fully healed, so for people to cry about how “sHe PeRfOrMeD eVeN wHeN sHe WaS iNJurEd!” makes no sense. If you love this idol so much, why aren’t you telling her to allow her body to heal rather than risk permanent damage just to make you happy? We see plenty of idols go on hiatus for far longer than 3 months for things such as mental health. Why should we treat physical health any different? Mental and physical health are both important, but in a job this physically demanding, if your body isn’t in top shape, you will inevitably do more damage to your body.
Agreed. Not to mention the fact people said this the entire born pink which been almost a whole year point and the fact she been fine performing at some born pink concerts and did amazing at Coachella
Something called permanent damage? You should look it up. muscles heal fast but parts like ankle where tendons and bones are the issue, things can be a lot longer than 12 weeks. Unfortunately we dont know the exact extend of her injury, but seeing her have this problem for so long it seems that her ankel injury is permanent. So yeah it is an excuse. im a physio therapist btw.
@@MasterBlast1337 you should also know from that point of view that if it was permanent damage she shouldn’t be preforming since it would make it worse but we already know it’s not permanent damage due to the fact at events like Coachella she preformed fine. Next

they say that the best lies have a bit of the truth mixed in. jennie is undoubtedly an inconsistent performer lacking in some of the skills of her peers, but people with true hatred in their hearts will take that valid base of criticism and build upon it with heinous rumors about her personal life and who she is as a person. it’s a slippery slope, or at least it was, because it seems everyone is sliding down the hill at full speed.
I agree. What your saying is very true. Using valid criticism and turning it into hate isn’t right. Jennie is an inconsistent performer and doesn’t lack in some skills than her other members. I do think that she should improve her stamina. When your in a small group its very noticeable when one person is inconsistent.
@@giapaul7973I agree with the way you said it. She can be inconsistent but that doesn’t diminish the skills and talents she’s known for. I hate how people belittle her hard work and talent over the basis that she doesn’t have consistent performance. It’s a huge learning opportunity for her but no need to dismiss her whole personality and craft
And why exactly should we? Millions of people already are there to hate on her, criticise her. We chose to defend her and love her no matter what. Where's the problem?
When the hate-train becomes this bad, it’s near impossible for toxic stans to differentiate criticism from actual hate. Not defending their actions at all! But it’s the reality.
@@Rosyxoxo the problem is the toxic stans i never said anything bad abt Jennie. I js wanted to say that she deserves the criticism shes getting but her being hated and called names shouldn't be happening
I think Jennie needed a platform to say what she means and why it is how it is. Notice that she becomes more vocal when in the US. I feel like the Dua Lipa podcast gave her a place that felt safe enough to share
Her fans often claim, 'She's a grown adult, she can do whatever she wants,' but the moment she faces criticism for something, they immediately go on defensive mode. If she's truly an adult, as you all say, then why not allow her to handle the valid criticism she receives on her own? It's contradictory to their own words as they constantly baby her instead of letting her face the consequences like any responsible adult would.
It’s true that her stans come up with excuses to defend her even when she’s wrong and most of them don’t hold her accountable for her mistakes, basically the thing most kpop fans do with their idols. But it also true that Jennie never receives criticism without hate, for instance most of the ‘criticism’ regarding The idol was people using the public’s distaste for the show as an excuse to call her a sl*t or a p*rn actress, so i can see why her fans would be so defensive
@@za5532 I honestly agree, with all the undeserving hate she has been receiving over the years, It's no surprise that her fandom is protective of her. While some of her fans need to understand the difference between criticism and hate, I firmly believe those who claim to "criticize her" while openly shaming her and hating on her are the worst. It baffles me how they can say "No hate" and then proceed to write the most disgusting and vile things imaginable to a person.
For the first 2 years of Jennies career things were going okay, she was consistent and had good stamina than suddenly she began regressing. I know she had an ankle injury at that time but things only got worse after that and instead of improving she started regressing. I of course don’t know what goes on behind close doors or know what Jennie is going through but fans don’t know these things either. They clam she has all sorts of mental and physical problems even though she never mentioned any. I don’t know if YG saw Jennie’s issue with stamina but at this point in her career their aren’t any excuses. Jennie said that she began understanding her body during the pandemic and yet 3 years later her stamina hasn’t improved at all. I have a hard time understanding why Jennie has regressed instead of improving from her debut till now. It’s more of Jennie’s responsibility to improve her stamina and skills, than it is YG’s.
Jennie for being pushed, Huening Bahiyyih for having a popular brother, Wonyoung for being favored, Bang Chan for the fallout of a member leaving the group, Yeri for being added late, Jungkook for being pushed in multiple areas, Hwasa for her looks, Soyeon for line distribution control, Mia for being favored for lines; so many idols have been attacked & kicked & insulted & dragged to the ground - and now most of them now have semi-insufferable fandoms as a result. Hate trains have their consequences.
It’s just jealousy in the end. Every fan wants their favorite idol to be pushed but gets pissed when others are doing the same. And honestly, all these idols don’t get pushed that much, the distribution is usually okay. But fans latch onto one thing and scream favoritism forever.
it's so interesting seeing jennie stans defend her sm even after it's been revealed that the things they're defending her for are true and that she's in the wrong, at what point do jennie stans (and kpop stans in general) stop abandoning their morals just to defend their fav(s) who are clearly in the wrong edit: to all the jennie stans who are mad at me and asking dense questions REWATCH THE VIDEO and pay attention this time around, that will answer all your questions

Ppl abandon their morals to defend her...?against literal slut shaming? The shit i've seen ppl say abt jennie and bp has been so disgusting and borderline triggering. Ppl will constantly say they're whoring themselves out implying they're being sexually abused. So what morals do these ppl have?
What morals do haters have? Morals in hating a girl, sl5tshaming her. Comparing her to Lisa all the time. Telling she's lazy and a wh0re, completely destroying her? Is that what morals haters have. Fans atleast support Jennie and do something POSITIVE in their life
My least favorite part about her and blackpink's fans is that they are inconsistent with their opinions just like it was mentioned in the video. Jennie fan accounts will make video's about "jennie winning the idgaf" war and 2 days later say she cried during a performance because she related to the lyrics "it's my choice and there is nobody I'm hurting." They will say she's a grown woman and she can act sexy if she wants to, but then call her a little baby the moment she does anything cute. They will say her and the members write lyrics, but the moment the lyrics in question get critisized it's teddy's fault. They go around hating on ningning and nayeon for "copying" jennie, yet still try to protect her from all sorts of constructive critisizm. It makes no sense.
Jennie actually didn't cry during the performance Yes she sounded like that because that means alot to her and it makes her emotional But she actually didn't cry it was just her eye makeup ( like yk those gem stones) someone confused it with tears
This isn't a thing that surrounds only blinks and blackpink. Literally ALL FANDOMS in kpop act like this towards their idols. If you think this is a problem, you should criticize the entire kpop industry then.
@@thankunext3378I agreed with OP though, I see it a LOT with Blackpink. Everything is blamed on YG for not letting BP have any control, but the next minute they’re claiming that BP are choosing their own outfits, writing their music (and just not being credited lmao), doing their own choreo. But if the outfits are too short, all of a sudden they had no choice. If the performance is bad, they’re being “forced” to perform. I’ve never seen anything like it.
This is why I left Kpop Twitter ans fandoms, I just listen to the music, like the concept pics and go to the concerts. this is the only k-tube channel I watch because Cheryl is always balanced and honest. The parasocial relationships in this industry is absolutely terrifying and the result is shockingly sad and scary
Blackpink's fandom is split into 5 parts: Lisa stans, Jennie stans, Rose stans, Jisoo stans, and blinks. Sadly, blinks are getting lower and lower by the day as the solo stans are just getting more and more prevalent. This could be remedied if YG realized that they need to do more group ventures and projects and far less solo projects, but YG only cares about money so it will never change
I remember on Twitter some fans were arguing and I was reading all the comments and one that really stuck out to me and one fandom said “so you think it’s ok for her to openly support Alexander Wang who is literally got multiple SA allegations?” And the Blink commented back “honestly yes that so unbothered queen behavior from her!” I always couldn’t feel the same way about the fandom or sadly the idol for that comment because that was just a lot for me.
@@Lexi-ds3nz well actually the allegations about him started in late 2020 but if you don’t remember that’s fine. But the matter is you trying to turn this around and act like what the blinks said was ok is kinda funny. Because I never said anything about “I think Jennie did this this or this!” I said a blink saying that if Jennie supports a possible rapist is “so cool unbothered queen” shit is really disgusting to me. And it’s caused problems with how I feel towards the fandom and made me back off from the idol its self. You have a problem with that? To bad. I never even commented on how close the two were for you information. I said I read a comment and yes your fandom turned me away from supporting your favs because I found it uncomfortable. You can cry about it if you want but you pretending that laughing at assault victims for fun is ok is not sitting well with me. Hope your ears can hear all that.
I feel like Jennie is naive. I’m the same age as her and I have done stupid things and had a rebel streak as well. Yes, Jennie should’ve never been on The Idol but she was doing the show to have fun. Again, she should’ve kept it pushing but idols are going to do what they want to do. There’s sooo many problematic things that idols do and behind closed doors some do worse. I’m saying that just because Jennie did this show she doesn’t deserve the hate. The criticism yes, the fan that said that is just ignorant but that doesn’t mean look at Jennie different as she has no control over her toxic and ignorant weird Stan’s. I get what you’re saying but I think about how idols have done problematic things and their Stan’s act delusional so now fans don’t trigger me, I ignore them!
Jennie does something (could be intentional or not, let’s give the benefit of the doubt) Haters: She is lazy, vulgar and unprofessional! Blinks: She is a grown woman and can do whatever she wants! She is human! Am I the only one who thinks that this situation became a vicious cycle and needs to be broken at some point?!?!
the problem is that most of those solo stans (of any of the members but especially lisa and jennie) are actual kids, or very young teens. no matter how detailed you'll try to explain something to them, they will either ignore it or just actually wont be able to understand. they cant see the difference between criticism and hate, so they react the same to both. and when you add kids from other fandoms, who dont know the difference either and therefore just spew actual hate and spam the new insults they've just learned recently, blinks have a new excuse to be toxic in return. its a cycle that will take more time to break than it took to be created. a lot of them will simply grow out of their phase, others will become even more obsessed. it will take a while to undo what this culture has made.
@@Kthfunnyvids definitely, but other kpop fandoms dont have the numbers to create this type of cult. and the fact that i personally dont know of any other group, where their solo stans hate on the other members so viciously, therefore baby their fav so aggressively. it always feels like (young and toxic) blinks are their own worst enemy yk
Honestly I used to defend Jennie against the hate train she got (she was never my bias in bp in the first place) but srsly we can't just let her get away with everything problematic she has done, many times the criticism was fair like the show The Idol or the born pink tour (things that led me into unstanning bp as a whole) she's a grownass woman, she can handle fair criticism don't worry
I agree with you but blackpink and jennie aren't getting "criticism". I havent seen a single instance when someone is giving criticism to jennie bc of the idol. All of it is hate hate hate.. The blackpink tour was a mess because some performances were so bad while others were god tier. Thats the issue it wasnt consistent but people are hating it and calling them untalented and disguising it as criticism.
bp was the first group i ever stanned so i understand how you feel, especially after the bp tour. while i don’t blame jennie for participating in a show as problematic as the idol due to the amount of changes i heard took place while filming, her effort on tour is never consistent and it’s caused me to want to just solo stan lisa atp. hopefully her fans stop babying her so she can learn soon, because she was my bias for years until recently.
I love this video, Jennie got so much hate to the point where the solo Stan’s got too protective and now where Jennie ACTUALLY does stuff where she SHOULD get criticised (like her lazy dancing) her solo Stan’s defend her
@@k7hfwj4xo it's true like the fans are afraid to see her get emotionally or mentally sick because of the hate she gets so they protect her from everything ( even when she should get CRITICIZED)
The first thing that comes to my mind when I see Jennie is: “I want to be like her”. Whether it’s her personality, confidence and of course.. her beauty and aura. And that is an affect that is very hard to keep for 7 years and counting.
But this is a reflection of how you feel about her “image”, because you can watch as many videos as you like, but you still don’t know her. And these images are so heavily edited and controlled, that fans genuinely believe they know her and can’t see otherwise.
@@_P.l.a.k.s.h.a_Hate is wrong. But she’s not above criticism. And whilst blind hate is wrong, so is blindly defending her when people are critical of things like her performance. People need to stop hating on her for no reason, but she needs to step up if she doesn’t want the valid criticism.
Thank you for this quality video essay ! Excited for the rest of this serie. You are speaking fact and putting word to what i was thinking. Fans forgot the parasocial relation that they keep nurturing by being immature. Also they forgot how to treat idol like human being. They don't think about the consequences of their act.
I used to be a big Jennie Stan when she first debuted up until 2020 when her performances started to lack, especially after coach Ella. Even this year 2023 and thier tour Jennie has put little to no effort for the stage performances and after seeing her performance on coachella it’s just her being lazy at this point. At coachella she put in so much effort in her performance and it actually felt like we were watching blackpink. Additionally, the. Fact we only get that effort from her bc other artists are in the crowds or she deems it more important then the performances she puts on for her fans is so sad. If her health was really that bad of an issue then her coachella performance should have been no different then the on tour ones she has been giving us. But unfortunately it is just her blatantly not wanting to preform for us blinks and that’s heartbreaking. I remember paying over 800 Canadian dollars to see them preform after coachella and it was such a disappointment because it felt like only Lisa and jisoo were actually wanting to be there. If I’m laying 800 to see that then idfk why they are the “best girl group” in the world.
I personally think Jennie has resentment towards her fans ESPECIALLY her asian fans, I feel that's why she's very energized and just fine when in clubs or events in LA or performing in festivals in front of her American model/influencer friends.
Did you see the controversy about her old Facebook account? I used to admire Jennie so much but after I saw her posts from that account of when she was 14, honestly I am disgusted.
People hate on Jennie now, but if anything were to happen to Jennie or if she went suicidal (God Forbid) then everyone would start being fake and showing love to her like everything is normal
I doubt she gonna go suicidal she seels to have a lot of friends +she can suit the industry for a while if she is just that unwell . Yedam and mashiho? Quit idol like coz they realised it wasn't for them
I've often wondered about this happening as Kpop groups become more popular in the West. As the members hang out more with Western (particularly American) celebrities, they may start to want the freedom these artists have -- the freedom to date openly and basically do what they want (within reason). I wouldn't be surprised if members of the biggest groups start trying to break away from the wholesome-idol image (kind of like Disney stars do once they reach a certain age).
She doesn’t deserve to be slut shamed but her taking part in a series where they are glorifying r*pe and dr*gs usage was a very bad and desperate action to enter in west.Breaking kpop boundaries and rules was iconic of her but now its all about brand deals, partying with US artists, ignorant performances, lip syncing….
I’m not defending Jennie but let’s talk. All she did was dance sexy which there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s nothing wrong with getting brand deals as literally EVERY K-pop idol has brand deals these days. There is nothing wrong with partying with U.S. artists. Believe it or not idols go out have fun, drink, smoke, and party. In South Korea it’s big over there to party. South Korea is the country where partying is big. Also, idols party they just don’t post it (Jennie gets posted from fans when she’s at a party) and there’s nothing wrong with that. Last, Jennie slacking isn’t ignorant performances as she always gives her best when she’s not being lazy. She also in fact does not lip synch. So, idk why you’re so pressed about a normal thing human beings do but K-pop idols are your perfect little prince and princesses. I guarantee that your favs are partying and fucking every other idol they can because guess what they are enjoying life, try it.
Actually non of blackpink did lipsync. And also she shouldnt get criticized in a bad way for partying. I mean there are after partys for events she has to go to and other partys which she attends as a regular adult. I can agree with the inconsistency of Jennie tho. There are clear clips of her being not as energetic and there are times where she obviously had a technical issue or a physical problem. She shouldn’t be blamed at things she simply cant hold control of but things she decided to not do. Critics should be given in a RESPECTFUL and positive way so the situation can lead to betterment FOR EVERYONE .
@@oftenunsaid2175" I am not defending Jennie " and then u continue to do so .We are criticizing abel ,lilly so why would Jennie be an exception and sexy dance ?? That was straight up vulgur and and and sam Levinson ,that guy is so problematic ,idk why he is so obsessed with showing naked teenage girls on his shows like that just shows his mentality nothing else ,any grown women would know he isn't the best guy to work with so yes the criticism is completely justified
@@amnashahzad883Not really lmao. Their comment was right and they were not defending jennie. All they were doing was pointing out facts. Your comment however, isn’t criticism, it’s literally bordering on the same hateful rhetoric everyone has been using ever since the idol dropped. That dance was not vulgar, and if you think a women being sexual is vulgar, maybe you should check yourself first. There might be a little case of internalized misogyny here and there. They also did not defend jennie when she’s slacking in her performances.
@@oftenunsaid2175 hii I wanted to jump in one of your points real quick. The fact that she did a sexy dance was never the problem I mean she is a gown adult. The problem is that the show she chose overfantasizes rape, miss handles mental issues and overuses unnesecessary and disguting sex scenes. She herself chose to be apart of a very disturbing and problematic show and we may never know why; but my own conclusiona are: 1. She never knew The Idol was that kind of show. I've read claims that the director changed the script last minute multiple times if so maybe Jennie really came into this without any knowledge of the plot because it was changing to much. 2. She was desperate to debut in hollywood. Of course her hanging out with more Americans isn't a problem it's just the people that she chooses to spend time with are suspicious and problematic ones. 3. She knew but never cared of the shows problematic actions. Like I said if Jennie was desperate to debut in hollywood then she didn't care if the show was terrible as long as she was now known as a hollywood star. These are all just my assumptions but yeah... I didn't really have a problem with the sexy dance it's just that she chose to be apart such a disgusting show.
It never fails to weird me out the lengths some fans will go to "protect" the idols they care about that they will start to neglect their own wellbeing and image, IDOLS MAKE MISTAKES, you don't need to protect them from theirselves!!!! People need to grow based on the mistakes they make, if someone never makes mistakes they can never grow, and that is horrible!
Some of them don’t grow though cause their use to getting their way cause of their fans making excuses for them and attacking anyone who gives any kind of criticism, that’s why lots of idols these days don’t apologize for their problematic behavior cause them and their companies know their fans will defend so they just ignore it like it never happened unless it truly effects those idols especially monetarily
Heres my thing Hyuna has a vasovagal which where she will faint up to 10 times a day, Baekhyun of EXO has a hyperthyrodism if the man pushes himslef too hard his body can shut down, there are MANY idols who have chronical illnesses. Whats Jennies problem (dont say her ankle) she needs to go to the doctor and if she has an issue she needs to take a break and when i say break i mean BREAK including her branding. Another problem is that she seems to have an underlying resentment towards her fans ESPECIALLY asian fans but seems to regain her energy when preforming in Europe for her model friends, in the states for her celeb western friends or when at festivals. It feels like she alrèady has thos thing of "im already treasured in my fandom i dont have to try so hard" P.S i completely agree with the fact that if "shes a grown women" is going to be used as an excuse follow through and be consistent with that very excuse.
I am not a Blink so I might be missing nuance here, but this reminds me a lot of Taylor Swift! As a Swiftie there is some valid criticism out there of her, but the reason many Swifties are so sensitive to it is because of her cancellation/hate train in 2017. I love your last line - people love to ask why stans hate criticism, and it's because it's so easily turned into extreme hate.
I'd honestly appreciate Jennie more if she just said she knows that people are not too happy with her performing sometimes and that's she'll try harder. But no, she started talking about her injuries (that mostly happened years ago), dancing in heels, not being able to control her body and take care of it. According to her logic, 99% of female idols should be lacking every 2 months and there would no improvements whatsoever. And well, if she didn't manage to find a way to become a consistent performer and make sure her body is healthy in 6 years of training and 7 years of being an idol despite having more free time than average idol (her group doesn't have too many songs, she doesn't make her music, they are rarely promoting on music shows and such things) maybe this job isn't for her. And seriously YGE wouldn't debut her if her health was actually that serious. Look how Jennie was killing it during debut and first 2 years, she just lacks passion and practice and that's it.
I’ve always also thought that if Jennie’s health and stamina was that bad, why would YG debut her because at the end of the day, only the best trainees get to debut and it doesn’t make sense for a company this large to invest time and money in someone who is inconsistent. And honestly she really was amazing during her debut that she outshined everyone else. And if you go by her logic, it doesn’t make sense that even 7 years into her career, she still doesn’t know hot manage her body at all. You would think that 7 years is a good enough time to learn how to manage you body and build on your stamina. She definitely has had injuries and she has also struggled a lot with hate in the past, which probably led to anxiety, but seeing how happy she is in her life right now, you’d think she will also be happy performing. But at this point, it feels like she’s dragging it out a bit.
As much as I used to love Jennie, I have to wonder why she went with a career and stuck with it for this long (despite clearly having the money and influence to leave whenever she wanted) if it really made her constantly go through injuries. I’m someone who is very prone to being hurt and I know the hell she’s describing (and ankle injuries are the worst. You hurt it once and you deal with it for years), but unlike Jennie, I don’t constantly put myself in a position where I will get hurt and act like I didn’t know it would happen :,D. I understand it comes with the job, but it’s a job she isn’t even doing that often. There comes a point where it’s very hard to defend her even when I know she’s human and can’t be perfect. Someone of her status should either try harder or move onto something else imo. 6 years of training should’ve done something for her. And if that didn’t, maybe 7 years where half of which she wasn’t even an active idol should’ve. I feel bad for her, but I also can’t say I’m against people criticizing her (in a fair way, not a nasty way). I think it all comes down to her now being so incredibly scared of getting hate (hate being a broad word for obsessive stalking, etc. here) that even when the criticism is valid, she has to protect herself and have her stans defend her because, well, a few years ago she had the whole world against her. Now she has some that are loyal to a fault, she’s gonna fall back on them to avoid the horrors she’s dealt with happening again. It’s all a shame, really. A vicious cycle that no one wins. It shows with how she’s now doing whatever she wants- hanging out with problematic people, willingly signing up for “the idol” knowing all the issues, etc.- because of the “damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t” attitude she’s had to deal with from the public. Really heartbreaking :,(
I feel like jennie has just lost her passion to be an idol especially with how yg goes about doing things with bp, their very spoiled in the sense of how much success/popularity they managed to achieve without working as hard as most idols, have very little comebacks and a small discography, one might say she’s had more than a enough free time to improve but she’s likes being this influencer and hollywood it girl these days more and she’s definitely trying to get away from that polished kpop idol image with some of her recent behavior and the things she’s been doing, she said it was her injuries/body/health as the reason to her lackluster performances but how come she performed well during her solo stages but slacked off when it came to bp stages if it was really injuries/body/health wouldn’t their been consistencies between her solo stages and no stages but their wasn’t not during the time of these lazy allegations, if she just said I’m tired of performing the same bp songs, it’s repetitive and boring and makes me feel less motivated I’d actually respect that and say okay I can understand that but no she uses invalid excuses, I don’t condone hate against cause hate can be really vile amongst kpop fans/stans but she’s not above criticism, if she’s no longer passionate about bp she need not renew her contract with yg as a bp member maybe just a soloist who does it all or leave all together and go at it on her own in hollywood she has the fan base and popularity to do so despite how problematic she can be but she better tread carefully with decisions she’s been making personally and professionally cause her fans and tears won’t be able to save her from everything before she one day finds herself in a situation she or her fans can’t get her out of
I'm sorry but I feel like you interpreted her talking about her injuries as victimising when she's opening about her injuries that should've been talked about 4 years before, idk it doesn't look like victimising to me especially because of the fact that she's speaking on it to her fans, and honestly I feel that k-pop female idols are NEVER seen talking about their injuries and problems and why is that normalised and why is it a problem if a female idol does it for the first time? let's be real, Jennie is a very good idol when she wants to be, she has the charisma, flow and her written raps are good! this is a job for her alright, I won't talk on the passion but practice? yes
@@yellow-ex5qp She's talked about her injuries years ago. She was talking about her health during How you like that promotion, during Light up the sky documentary, during Rolling Stones interview that happened 2 months before Pink Venom and their tour and I'm sure a few times more. Each time she said she's trying to take care of herself, and yet she keeps giving half baked performances? "Jennie is very good idol when she wants to be" is the problem. Obviously, no one is asking her to overwork her body to the point of fainting but people are asking her to be more consistent. She can change her shoes during concerts if they're the problem, she can sit during performance if she feels that amount of pain, she could even go to hiatus like other idols. It's clear when Jennie feels like performing and when not. I've seen many female idols talking about health and injuries, such as Itzy getting injured while doing their tiring choreographies or Lia saying she's anemic but I don't see them looking that done on stage like Jennie can be.
Oh yayyy the BLACKPINK Olympics Series continues, not that I like that they’re now “competing” in some way. I just found your LISA Video very interesting and I want to know how it continues
Only idol in kpop I can think of getting more unwarranted hate is Jimin of BTS. Also funny that both Jennie and Jimin get targetted viciously by taekookers.
You are very right. As I watched this video, the only other idol that came to mind is jimin. Sadly his hate train is so uncalled and invalid as he is not problematic and so hardworking. And yes mostly from taekookers. But they still it boy and it girl 3rd gen.

Tbh, jennie's situation is actually one of the most complex situations I have seen Because I still see her getting slvt shamed for being in the idol ( i doesn't support her for being the part of show neither does I support her about her views on sam levinson ) She deserve criticism? Yess she does The thing she doesn't deserve to called all kind of nasty names because of it But most of the time I people calling her all kind of names rather then well worded criticism Also people have normalized hating on jennie which doesn't only make her harassment very common when it's smth really serious but also make make valid criticism sound really insensible and nonsense because alot of people gonna think that the person criticizing her is another hater trying to start a new way to drag her, ( alot people aren't gonna take her criticism seriously tbh)
Jennie's solo stans behave like those moms who think their kids can do no wrong and defend them all the time, even when said kids, who are already adults, make obvious mistakes
@@jayr7781 No, parents shouldn't condone that behavior, because your child won't be able to be a functional adult in the future, instead, a burden for everyone. In the case of an adult woman like Jennifer, is worse since those teens are not her parents (they are way too inexperienced to try to advice or defend anyone) and she most definitely knows what she is doing and the possible consequences she will face for her decisions. No responsible adult does or decides anything without considering the possible outcomes.
To all people blindly defending her choices because she 'didn't know' - Jennie can read. Jennie can analyze that the show is trash when the initial idea was scrapped. Jennie knows when she learned that oversexualized choreography. The last one should be the most glaring reason - back in Korea, the nugu girl groups used to resort to dancing THAT suggestive choreo in desperation to be noticed in the cutthroat industry. Jennie is a fucking international superstar who NEVER had to go that low to be noticed by people when she was a newbie, but she did it for that show. And her FIRST Western show, at that. I just question her (AND THE MANAGEMENT'S) choices because honestly, I wasn't expecting her to take this path 😔 Or was she going through a Miley phase?
And she is grown y’all need to stop this childish behavior if them people back in Korea don’t like the show then they don’t have to watch it. The show is 18+ for a reason and y’all actually like Jennie was doing something inappropriate she wasn’t even shown that much

I really enjoyed this. I personally am not a fan of Jennie. I think some hate in the past has been unnecessary, I don’t agree with slut shaming or talking about one’s physical appearance or bullying if any kind. However, this girl does a lot wrong and it’s ok to critique her without being hateful. The fact we have gotten to the stage where you can’t even critique someone is shocking. I’m part of a kpop fandom and some people in my own fandom scare me with how far they will go to protect the idol.
It’s a cycle, idol gets hated, fans get over protective, idols get more hated e.g// Jennie gets hated for wearing skimpy clothes people will defend her “this is an over reaction” but if so many blinks say “she can wear what she wants your all misogynistic” as opposed to “she makes her decisions you can disagree, be civil” no matter your viewpoint fans look unreasonable and people feel it’s ‘brave’ to shame Jennies outfits From your ep 1 of this series you’ve taught that “we love underdogs” you are correct! Cause the internet mostly prefers edgy or unpopular takes
i just want one answer . Like Jun of seventeen is doing a legit bed scene and he is not getting hated but why is Jennie getting called out all kinds of name for just doing a sexy dance which male idols like Jackson Wang do in Live Stages, YES their own concert . The heck ?????
I feel like a lot K-pop idols nowadays love the fact that they have these cult-like behavior from their fans because they know that they wouldn't have to address any controversies or face any backlash when these toxic fans got their backs, evident by the fact the BP themselves never addressed any of the cultural appropriations scandals for one.
@@nourhanaboulnasr6566 yg as usual did not and i'm sure would probably not as they don't care (that company and its artists like bigbang and 2ne1 are like huge black culture appropriators). I can’t believe they are still people out there dreaming to become a famous kpop idol… I enjoy kpop but I could never endure all that. I’m not really a fan of Jennie but I liked blackpink since debut and while I would criticise her for some things, all the hate she has been receiving is just unreasonable and cruel
Just watch the video. Her fans have gotten to that through years of hate for their idol. Also, other fandoms especially Lisa’s, have that same mentality that would tolerate anything Lisa does.
@@alexzandracoleencabug866people should still hold her accountable when she makes mistakes though. and i didn’t say that other fans weren’t like that i just talked about jennie’s cause that’s what the video talked about. i was just making a joke anyways.
I’m ngl Jennie should have not spoken about her ‘condition’ on Dua Lipa’s podcast. They barely dance in heels and all she really said was she doesn’t have endurance which comes with training. Your job as an idol is to train for performances, concerts aren’t easy neither is performing back to back. Unless she was going to say she has a chronic condition she just should have avoided it. I don’t condone idols performing if they are injured because your health comes first but it doesn’t seem like she is actually injured. I’m only using Jihyo as an example, Jihyo works out and does weight training for her job to be as good as she is you have too. If Jennie is fine not putting in the work needed to gain that endurance then she shouldn’t be an idol in my opinion she can model, she can act, she can do anything else.
What I find SUPER annoying is that when Jennie opens up about how hard something is for her, there's this group of people calling her a crybaby, attention seeker because "everyone has it hard in this industry, you're not special", "such a pick me", "just work harder" and "why did you become an idol then". So she's blamed for not speaking which makes people believe she's ok but when she does speak, it's bad because "you're not the only one struggling so shut up"
But her story is extremely inconsistent. She can't control her body, can't dance in heels and what's not, but she gives performances of her life in LA and not in many other countries? She supposedly couldn't wave to reporters and fans and yet she moves her hands during private stage the same day?
@@JM_Mk she isnt trying to understand her body more than anyone in the group. in case you didnt get that, which obviously you didnt, SHE herself is trying to understand HER own body so that she doesnt harm HER own body even more.

I don't understand her body (and if she doesn't either, maybe that's far more concerning) but I can confidently say that not all of those things are just her health but her amount of efforts. Jennie clearly doesn't put as half as efforts in tour as much as she puts in LA performances, regardless of her health. Stop being naive. Her body is just fine when she's handling Coachella.
I feel like most of the people who jumped on blackpink hate train were just frustrated because of the blinks who bullied their groups and wanted them to have the taste of their own medicine. Like for example aespa performed at coachella and there were claims that they were lipsyncing or comparing them to blackpink or like lilly of nmixx hated for having a hairstyle similar to lisa. Most of the fandoms just came together since blinks are not innocent they have bullied so many groups, making fun of rookies and always bringing blackpink whenever some idol is praised. And the born pink tour happened it was the perfect way to take their revenge or whatever. Sadly idols get dragged into this and are the ones who get affected when these fans are just sitting behind their screens being pathetic. Idols suffer the consequences of their fans despite loving them so much and always promoting love and positivity and fans would blame everyone but themselves. Fandom plays a huge role whether you wanna accept or not hopefully Jennie's mental health is in check I am not a stan but my heart goes for her.
Maybe this is how it started, and maybe it’s why some fans do it. But there’s a lot of genuine criticism out there. The problem is that it’s always labelled as “hate” by Blinks.
she definitely deserve criticism for the idol but hate and slut shaming her is not the way I looked in Jennie instagram I would like to say her instagram comment section is disgusting I feel so bad for her 😢
but does she surrounds herself with them??? The Weekend was one of the most loved and popular artist of the world before this event, and he is still extremely loved by many people and kpop idols. Sam Levinson was awarded with Emmys before the idol, and have megastars such as Zendaya still rooting for him. Things are not just black and white. There's complexity, and nuance
i don't understand this comment because jennie is not friends with either levinson or the weekend, and the only time she was around them was when they needed to promote the idol.
8:11 I understand the depression angle, but I interpret this as her saying “Good God, my life is so busy, it’d be heavenly to have a week where people aren’t constantly asking me to sell my soul for them.”
If Kpop idols are human ( which they are) like any other human, they will make mistakes, bad decisions out of ignorance or bias. We’re not perfect but sometimes what ppl do isn’t okay and (when said respectfully) it’s deserved to be called out. It will help them learn and grow. If they know that their fans will defend them REGARDLESS of what they do, they will continue to do it. Overall IF the backlash is warranted, it’s okay to step back and let them learn from criticism. Fans just need to know the time and place.
Yes they will make mistakes the problem lies when they don’t take accountability and learn from them, be better do better, instead they rely on their fans to defend them, make excuses for them, attack others about their problematic behavior and then they just move on like they did nothing but the moments the tables are turned those sane fans demand an apology for anyone offending disrespecting or attacking their fav, it’s the hypocrisy and audacity honestly smh
I realised that the fans that want their idols to be treated as humans. never treated them as humans in the first place. We would be lying if we said kpop is only about music. Kpop cannot survive without the parasocial behvaiour that it preaches. What we defend, what we don't - when the idol is innocent and when they aren't - maybe it's just me but this fan and idol/company relationship is abusive and both parties take full advantage of it. And I was deeply affected by this too. But this is why, dissociating ourselves from the fandoms or the idols lives. seems to be the best choice to protect ourselves from this chaos and toxicity. I wasn't a believer of that when I started as a kpop fan but the more I analyze and watch videos like yours, the more I see the manipulative nature of it all. I used to say, kpop isn't all dark. I take that back. Kpop is everything dark. The music is just the surface but beyond that, if you analyze from the fan culture to the production style of these idols - its all dark. The idols become the dolls that they might preach they aren't in their music. Sincere hearts might exist but still, its in a pool of manipulative and abusive scenarios.
You proved it perfectly. The main reason I got into K-pop is because of music(I take music listening seriously). It interested me back in 2019 when I was new. Tbh, music of kpop never really sticks with me for months(if it did, it's my favorite). The real goal of this industry is to *entertain* people, which is comparable to watching television. You're not in control, you're just an audience that wants to laugh and appreciate the things they do. The more I know the true nature of K-pop, the stronger my reason not to be attached to it seriously.
There’s a difference between giving her criticism and giving her hate. Jennie has made many many mistakes(as we all have) and yes she does deserve criticism on certain things, but no one gives her criticism, they just give her hate. I can honestly understand why her fans are so “toxic”, it’s because people just sit and hate on her for no reason. Not to mention there is something wrong with Jennie, she’s been off since 2020 and maybe even 2018. Yes, being an idol is her job and performing good is a major part of it, but her mental and physical health is WAY more important. I’d rather her take care of herself, then perform not at her best for thousands of fans. That or for her to just admit she’s lost her passion for being an idol, in her case it’s understandable though. If I received all the hate she has gotten for no reason, I’d lose my passion too. Also I’m not saying she has lost her passion, but if it’s not her health, then it’s obviously it had to be something with her losing her passion for her job, which is okay.
i dont think ive ever seen a fandom so toxic and divided like BP's. its crazy that the girls have to see their own fans pitting them against one another like its a competition. they wonder where all the hate comes from when in reality it mainly comes from within the fandom. then they go hate on other groups which brings toxic fans from those fandoms to hate on BP, adding more fuel to the house fire. they need some help fr.
It's funny, because the only problem that I ever had with Jennie was as a consumer, when it feels like I don't get what I'm paying for. Which I think it's 100% valid to be upset and remark on. But the rest of the fans, they harp so much on every little thing you say about any aspect of her life to be hate that it genuinely kind of makes me hate her for it. I'm not out here writing oodles of hate comments because I have better things to do with my life but it's so upsetting that I can't say that I wish the performers put more effort into their performances that I paid to see.
I was caught off guard with the "relationship with teddy and yg" like wtf is that a thing now? whoever came up with that rumour wtf is wrong with y'all omg
I think there's both valid criticism of Jennie and too much hate, but more than anything at the moment I wish her fans would just focus on praising Jennie instead of bringing up her hate train when it's not relevant. I really think it contributes to tge visibility of that hate. Honestly a lot of fandoms could benefit from doing that.
i’ll never forget the day i first saw that lazy jennie dancing compilation come up in my recommended next to another kpop-related video i was watching - the one that ended up getting taken down, assuming by YG. it was actually crazy bc i was also kinda thinking the same thing since she was a lot more subdued on stage lately, but i just kept it to myself because it’s normal for your energy to ebb and flow as a performer. but WOW, did i not expect that one video to turn into what the dialogue around jennie is now. the genuine criticism towards her, i understand all different sides, but you nailed it with the way she’s coddled by fans. you can’t shield someone from everything because they’ll never grow, and you as a fan will never mature with nuance and critical thinking added onto your perspective of how you see idols and create opinions as a fan. it’s just so awful how everything turned out to this point, and how horrible YG has managed to seemingly exasperate everything by not protecting & managing their artist. i believe jennie when she talks her health issues and learning about herself, i have no reason not to. but all that is still not an excuse to explain a nearly consistent pattern of not making her performances worth the while that her fans pay for, the same money that helps make her & her members’s paychecks. anyways, this was a lot, but so we’ll done as always!! really loving this series ♥︎
I mean her not performing well on stage and going to parties and feeling good does need criticism coz that leans she doesn't respect the money she gets from her fans what she doesn't deserve though is to be slvt shamed
@@UFO339I don't get why you guys expect her not to have a social life just cause you claim she's not giving her all in stage. She performs well and the people at the concert have a good time and enjoy themselves. Only people I see critique her performances are people Who have never been to a Blackpink concert.
@@UFO339from the way I see it, only people that are angry over Jennie's stage performance are either known antis or people that have never been on her tour in the first place. I am not saying she is not inconsistent, she is, but it's really not as bad as some people make it out to be
23:52 Dang, people actually said that? That's wild lmao. While I admit that I was kinda surprised to hear that she was allegedly dating G-Dragon a year after she dated Kai from Exo, it wasn't cause I was judging her like this! It was more so because in general, I imagine that people will take quite a long time to move on, so it always surprises me when they move after a year (I'm not saying this is a bad thing, just something that mildly interests me). Other than this, my reaction to the rumors was pretty neutral 'cause idrc about a celebrity's love life. People who are so hyper-invested in idols' personal lives weird me out. Great video Cheryl, can't wait for the next 2 parts of this series! 🤍
OMG FINALLY ITS HERE I wanted someone to talk about Jennie and the idol situation because I love Jennie okay she’s my wrecker after rosé so please Jennie joining the idol wasn’t a problem to me at first I knew it was a very sensual character per say but i didn’t expect the show to be like this even tho I am just a casual listener of the weeknd and I don’t even know what goes around his life as such when I learned that such the storyline was going to be like this(because of sam levinson being in it)I just knew she was gonna get hate because it was pretty obvious but even when she was criticised for her “acting” the fans seem to take it as hate which did rub me off in the wrong way and I kinda just pulled my support of off Jennie for a while While I sympathise with her after her podcast with dua lipa and how much she has gone through in her idol career it kinda seems like she’s being “oh u hated me for this wait I’ll do it more what u gonna do” way
Coz she knows her fans act like a cult . I remember people saying her face doesn't even match the scene and pole were like "you're just jEaLoUS" or "you should be in her shoes"
@@UFO339 this to be exact I saw many comments on her the idol edits saying even tho they keep it aside that this show is a r@pe glorification atp her acting was just not good as it was supposed (can’t complain because no one is acting right in that show) and blinks immediately throw the song she sang for the idol or say do you know how much she went through some went straight up saying “then u act in the idol instead of hating her”
It's refreshing to have an actual person with proper brains post something this valid. This and the 1st episode are made so well and I'm excited and interested in the other two parts as the first two are pretty saucy. Got yourself a new subscriber xx
Didn't Jennie also have some pre-debut controversies? I always thought that was where the hate train had started. So, I have never felt one way or another about Jennie. I feel like she's a bit overhyped, but as a trainee who was well-known back in 20... 14? I think? I get it. If I ever had an opinion, it was after that Dua Lipa interview where she claimed she didn't have control over her body, even after her trainee days. What? Literally the point of dance class is to learn how to control your body. If you can't do that, then you failed. Period. Difficulties dancing in heels is fine although still questionable, but lacking control and stamina has me wondering if you're taking care of yourself or taking or job seriously because that is literally what you are training for as a trainee. Other than that one gripe, Jennie Kim has always been very low on my list of things to care about.
"People needed a reason to hate Jennie, it had to be something she herself has done, no matter how small it was". I realised it cause people spreading 6 second clips of her from my concert being called LaZY AND ignoring full 120 minutes on stage dancing perfectly and giving her all is so weird. Thanks for adressing this.
I actually went to a show though and it was a really bad performance. Every time I talk about it, I am told that I’m lying. You can’t win. Her fans will NOT allow her to be criticised. If I said I went and I loved it, they’d choose to believe me then.
@HTE57 Exactly they are gonna say "5 second reels don't prove blackpink is talented" when it's a good one when actually there are millions of reels that are of different moments in concerts and blackpink do actually do best most of the time cause I have seen the entire Houston concert. But then whenever there is like maybe a 5 second clip of someone messing up they are gonna say "the idol doesn't give their all and they are tallentless" which is so hypocritical cause it could be 10 reels of the same moment and the haters would call it a day and start to trash on blackpink right away. Literally in that french charity performance blackpink LITERALLY ate the stage full performance, but during just one of the movements which lasted 3 seconds her voice gave up and guess what people again said "blackpink never give it all" "jisoo is so miserable"..... at this point do i even need to say anything?!!?! bro EVERY idol almost every one in the kpop and other music industries have ALWAYS had moments of a few seconds when they mess up sometime, I don't wanna say anyone's name cause it's gonna make a war. Like even the "legends" and the "good artists" people speak about have such moments but they don't get judged. Then the sIut shaming and all that. Like bro why do hwasa hyuna Jessi and other kpop idols have careers if being sultry was unacceptable?!?! Jennie could be wearing shorts and a crop top and yall would call her vulgar. Like bro the born pink concert is a 16+ concert and they are literally singing explicit songs like tally and others which require parental advisory!! How come for evrry artists it's that "artists aren't the parents, parents should be more responsible" and for blackpink it's straight up "lisa looking like a h00ker and the stripr she was born to be!" Like wtf is that about?! And to the one boy band fandom that hates them, didn't your maknae make a "I freak people seven days a week and I am really good in bed" with the entire promo being images that would be reported for being vulgar if blackpink did that or when they sinp over bts reels and make "hot MoMeNtS" about them. And to the other big kpop gurl group fandom, isn't momo and jihyo wearing clothes that show skin as well? Why do yall feel the need to hate on blackpink if you are comfortable with twice?! How many times has momo dances a sexy song with very suggestive moves and how many times has Mina performed that 7 "twerks" by ariana grande and hasn't received 1% of whatever lisa has gotten?! And if I consider male idols a whole world come new. Like yall excuse ateez stray kids and thousands of kpop bands for being sexy and fetishize them but if it's blackpink yall won't waste a time before launching your death threats?! Seriously blinks have been really passive cause if this was 2020 blinks would have NEVER allowed these types of haters to exist for more than a minuteJennie may not have performed 100 every single second for the tours and encores and performances which went for a YEAR long, cauae its simply not possible, not for ANY idol with the schedule that they had, but, she always aimed for it. The hate she got was WAY out of proportion, never in the industry has anyone been critiqued and HATED to this staggering amount. Please she has been damn good af. Out of a year worth of performance after performance yall cant even extract 5 minutes of mishaps of jennie, without repetation of videos. Also if the same scrutinizing was done to everyone, most idols would have worse scandals if people arent biased
Of these beautiful, talented and wildly successful women in BP, it seems Jennie could use professional, private, therapy. Cameras on 24/7, and edits have magnified Blackpink's greatness, charm, and also thst they are *human* with strengths and flaws. No reason to hate K-pop performers.
Honestly the audio of her interview with Dua Lipa just seemed so... stupid. Like, those same words coming out of someone else's mouth wouldn't be labeled as "beautiful." She's been an idol for seven years yet she's barely now trying to learn about her body? It's not about improvement in her dancing either, it's about her hurting herself when she performs. That should've been addressed before she even became an idol. If not for her own good then for the betterment of Blackpink's stage performances. That's the kind of learning you do when you decide to become a dancer, not even a full-blown idol, just an average dancer.
Shut up omg, she learned it late because it takes time to listen to your body and yourself when otehr people are hating on you and making bad remarks about you
@@thesevenkingswelove9554 I've been an artist for 9 years and throughout that time I've received my fair share of criticism from others. However, that didn't stop me from learning how to draw with a pencil. Which, like learning how to move your body, is practiced by beginner-level artists. That's literally the most basic skill and something that is learned before you even present your art to the public. She should've known that before she became an idol, back when she didn't have haters OR fans.
@@honeyjoo2039 this is the K-pop trainee system we are talking about . Comparing y’all artistry and how you got their isn’t a good example for your point bc it’s not similar at all. Many K-pop idols have gone through the same issues and problems by injuring themselves and having chronic health problems bc of how brutal training is. All they care about is debuting bc companies push the agenda that they have to be perfect and will go to extreme lengths for their trainees to get to that stage of “perfection”. Some companies starve their trainees for goodness sake! Didn’t one of the twice members , I don’t remember who , who was forced to eat ice for 2 weeks or else they said she wouldn’t debut? I’m pretty sure one the members also explained how she had a near death experience. This isn’t a new thing in K-pop and it’s kinda weird how Jennie has to take accountability for the pressure and toxic environment that made her body weak in the first place. Sure Jennie could have taken care of her body before she debuted but she explained herself that she’s only now realising where she went wrong .I’m all here for criticism and Jennie is NOT a perfect human who does deserve to be called out as longs as it’s respectful but we both know that common courtesy is always thrown out the window when it comes to her as this video essay explains and proves . As Jennie said before “let me share me with you “ exactly!! Let her be the one to tell you the real deal instead of giving in your 2cents for how YOU THINK her character is or how you think her body works etc this also goes for her toxic stans too who can’t take criticism and are rushing to be her saviour. The only reason why I’m even commenting is bc I don’t think your being entirely fair .
@@fatimasummaray784 I can see where you are coming from. Nothing I said was out of malice and I am entirely aware of how idols are treated when they are trainees. However, her comment was stupid. I didn't mention anything else about her, just that one comment she made. She had 6 years to train and work through her issues before becoming an idol; which is the longest training period in all the members of Blackpink. I get that health concerns may have arisen recently and she may be having issues because of that, but if that is the case she shouldn't point her inconsistencies back to training that happened more than 7 years ago. It would be better for her to simply work on it now instead of making goofy excuses like not knowing how bendy her arm is. As a fellow artist, all I want is improvement at the end of the day, which is most likely not going to happen if her mindset keeps going the way it is.
@@honeyjoo2039 you say she had 6 years to treat her issues but that’s where the issues started to occur in the first place so it’s not something that happened “recently”. Her trainee days are the reason why she is so inconsistent now . Now that she knows NOW what caused her chronic bad body stamina or whatever the health issue (all I know is she has a chronic leg injury and has had to wear an iv on her arm quite a few times) it is now she should try to to know take care of her issues. How could she take care of her issues 6-7 years ago when that was the time period it was developing and she didn’t know ?? If she continues to perform the way she did at the start of the tour as from now on then I would look at her side ways and question her because she’s now aware of the issues and she should take care of them if she truly wanted to get better and perform to the best of her abilities for the ppl who paid for their concerts. As I said before she’s human . She has every right to be criticised but it’s a different scenario if she’s herself has given a valid reason or a response on a accusation that she’s been bullied for years now which is rare in the K-pop industry for actual idols to actually speak out on these sort of situations especially situations that started enormous amount of hate/hate trains . Jennie said herself she knows she disappointed her fans . Let her tell her side of the story. And saying “not being able to bend her arm” is shady on your part .
I think its because a non fan and a Jennie fan sees Jen in the opposite spectrum. Ive seen people describe her as rude and everything negative but most Jennie stans I knew describes her as cute, a baby. In fact, BP babies Jen a lot. So thats just adds to it.
Whew. That was a lot to digest and I'm not even in the first stage yet. All I'm going to say is that people/fans idolizes Celebrities too much to the point where they THINK these celebs CANNOT DO ANYTHING WRONG or these celebs would never even harm others. Like bruh, open your eyes coz they will take advantage of this to get out of messy situations. These celebrities are not gods. They should not be above the law.
Fans in effort of defending Jennie from hate, just go and start hating on her members or any other idol who could be called an 'IT girl' in kpop. Neither do they take criticism on Jennie's upsetting stage performances, or her lack of effort in general nor do they consider any other idol as a human being bcoz they want to redirect the undeserved jennie hate on another innocent idol who is just a human being like jennie
Also, some stuff that you got slightly wrong: Blinks main target isn't V, it's Jimin. V is also highly targeted by blinks (they're always making jokes about his deceased grandmother), but historically there have been way more blink solos who token stan V (even before the current dating rumor and instagram follow) while Jimin has always been a punching bag for them. Also blinks didn't take straight to V's instagram to harass him because he and the other BTS members have their comments box closed. kpop stans often blur the lines of "criticism" and "hate" when it comes to female idols. this is sadly the case with jennie as well and as much as it pains me to admit it, wonyoung might be the next victim.

Kpop is so self destructive.
i dont think you should be too worried, token stans and outside fandoms arr the ones hating. dives are pretty chill in my opinion when it comes to it
I personally think it depends. Who knows?)
They know the entire group and have different favorites, but don't partake in the drama and believe it to be purely societal.

G DRAGON KING ,..
one thing i have noticed a lot is that the hero complex or savior complex is seen A LOT in kpop. i do think it ties back to infantilism, and it does have something to do with looks sometimes. take sunoo for example. the defensive fanbase surrounding him today started predebut, when iland was still airing. people said he was cute, presumably because of the way his face is more on the soft side. from then on, the infantilism started, with people assuming he can't deal with things himself.
something im noticing is happening to eunchae her fandom infantilises her sm

@@mimijae9154you completely missed the point but what else is new with K-pop stans.
this is by far the most sympathetic but also nuanced video I have ever seen in the jennie hate train. While being in the idol is indeed wrong and questionable from her part, people forget how harassed and hated she was and still is and can't have civil discussions about her without resorting to extreme hatred or apologism.
You are literally the same person as me in this context.
@@mani-ei5kq I have a genuine hatred towards sultry film, idk why people like their content
@@ilikeyourcutg5597 Me neither, all they do is create hateful, negative content towards kpop artists.
It’s sad honestly. Like why are they always speaking for her and coming up with lies.
Unfortunately her fans don't care what she thinks. From my observation her fans either see her as a pretty doll or live vicariously through her. Neither of which her personal thoughts or feelings matter.
Love jennie stans for that

I’m honestly surprised how much Jennie can get away with a lot of problematic stuff and that’s because of how much her fans baby her and support her blindly, it’s giving cult like behaviour 🫣
Then you get some of her fans that pick and choose when she’s an adult, when she’s doing something wrong or problematic then her fans say that she’s an adult and she’s allowed to do whatever she wants but then when it’s time that she faces criticism or consequences of her actions then her fans decide to forget she an adult and try convince us that she’s some helpless and innocent girl that doesn’t know what she’s doing.

Does she deserve criticism? Yes, she does
Does she deserve to get called names or get slvt shamed over that? No she doesn't

there’s one glaring thing you didn’t mention about jennie stans: their unrelenting obsession and gatekeeping of the “it girl” status. god help any other female idol in the running for that title.
It is true though? She, tied with Lisa, is the most influential idol in the industry, theyre both recognised globally.

Facts!
It's hard now to differentiate criticism in kpop because it might be mixed with hate or throw something random.

Her fans often claim, 'She's a grown adult, she can do whatever she wants,' but the moment she faces criticism for something, they immediately go on defensive mode. If she's truly an adult, as you all say, then why not allow her to handle the valid criticism she receives on her own?
Jennie for being pushed, Huening Bahiyyih for having a popular brother, Wonyoung for being favored, Bang Chan for the fallout of a member leaving the group, Yeri for being added late, Jungkook for being pushed in multiple areas, Hwasa for her looks, Soyeon for line distribution control, Mia for being favored for lines;
so many idols have been attacked & kicked & insulted & dragged to the ground - and now most of them now have semi-insufferable fandoms as a result. Hate trains have their consequences.
Ok but Chan is disliked for more than just the woojin scandal 😭 he’s done more problematic things
It’s just jealousy in the end. Every fan wants their favorite idol to be pushed but gets pissed when others are doing the same. And honestly, all these idols don’t get pushed that much, the distribution is usually okay. But fans latch onto one thing and scream favoritism forever.
it's so interesting seeing jennie stans defend her sm even after it's been revealed that the things they're defending her for are true and that she's in the wrong, at what point do jennie stans (and kpop stans in general) stop abandoning their morals just to defend their fav(s) who are clearly in the wrong

She herself chose to be apart of a very disturbing and problematic show and we may never know why; but my own conclusiona are:
I'm waiting for this like a new episode on my favorite k-drama
It never fails to weird me out the lengths some fans will go to "protect" the idols they care about that they will start to neglect their own wellbeing and image, IDOLS MAKE MISTAKES, you don't need to protect them from theirselves!!!! People need to grow based on the mistakes they make, if someone never makes mistakes they can never grow, and that is horrible!
+ Most of yall are teenagers, while these idols are adults, seriously, open yours eyes, they don't need your help to stand up for themselves 💀

It feels like she alrèady has thos thing of "im already treasured in my fandom i dont have to try so hard"
P.S i completely agree with the fact that if "shes a grown women" is going to be used as an excuse follow through and be consistent with that very excuse.
So excited! Even with Jennie being my bias, I’ve been really looking forward to this!

Love those lines in the 2 episodes!
I am not a Blink so I might be missing nuance here, but this reminds me a lot of Taylor Swift! As a Swiftie there is some valid criticism out there of her, but the reason many Swifties are so sensitive to it is because of her cancellation/hate train in 2017. I love your last line - people love to ask why stans hate criticism, and it's because it's so easily turned into extreme hate.
realllll

As they should.

It’s a cycle, idol gets hated, fans get over protective, idols get more hated
e.g// Jennie gets hated for wearing skimpy clothes people will defend her “this is an over reaction” but if so many blinks say “she can wear what she wants your all misogynistic” as opposed to “she makes her decisions you can disagree, be civil” no matter your viewpoint fans look unreasonable and people feel it’s ‘brave’ to shame Jennies outfits
From your ep 1 of this series you’ve taught that “we love underdogs” you are correct! Cause the internet mostly prefers edgy or unpopular takes
It is so sad that the blackpink fandom and so many others is so extreme like it is supposed to be about enjoying music
i just want one answer . Like Jun of seventeen is doing a legit bed scene and he is not getting hated but why is Jennie getting called out all kinds of name for just doing a sexy dance which male idols like Jackson Wang do in Live Stages, YES their own concert . The heck ?????
i would love a video from you about army vs. blinks becayse it's fascinating and i really love hearing your takes on this stuff
They did
In an online fan meet lisa does apologize for wearing braids when a fan educated her on the topic and she hasn't done anything after that

She's trying to understanding her body more than who ? More than Lisa ? More than Rosé ? She literally danced in platformed 95% of the tour
@@JM_Mk she isnt trying to understand her body more than anyone in the group. in case you didnt get that, which obviously you didnt, SHE herself is trying to understand HER own body so that she doesnt harm HER own body even more.
@@AB-yk2pq why are you trying to speak on the body of a celebrity you've never met and who NOW is opening about her problems that started affecting her 4 years before, you know her body more than her?
@@yellow-ex5qpShe's opened about her body many times before.
Jennie deserves all the valid criticism
Likewise every idol
Agreed. Especially onces are pissed off cus whenever twice do anything you see the "well if Jennie did this" LIKE SHUT UP
Maybe this is how it started, and maybe it’s why some fans do it. But there’s a lot of genuine criticism out there. The problem is that it’s always labelled as “hate” by Blinks.

That presume the idol cares about your (or anyone else's) criticism in the first place or is interested in growth from that angle.
Agreed!
Agreed 💯
Also I’m not saying she has lost her passion, but if it’s not her health, then it’s obviously it had to be something with her losing her passion for her job, which is okay.
i'm waiting for the 'MANY MANY MISTAKES'
i dont think ive ever seen a fandom so toxic and divided like BP's. its crazy that the girls have to see their own fans pitting them against one another like its a competition. they wonder where all the hate comes from when in reality it mainly comes from within the fandom. then they go hate on other groups which brings toxic fans from those fandoms to hate on BP, adding more fuel to the house fire. they need some help fr.
I'm not out here writing oodles of hate comments because I have better things to do with my life but it's so upsetting that I can't say that I wish the performers put more effort into their performances that I paid to see.
thank you for this
I was caught off guard with the "relationship with teddy and yg" like wtf is that a thing now? whoever came up with that rumour wtf is wrong with y'all omg
True.
i’ll never forget the day i first saw that lazy jennie dancing compilation come up in my recommended next to another kpop-related video i was watching - the one that ended up getting taken down, assuming by YG. it was actually crazy bc i was also kinda thinking the same thing since she was a lot more subdued on stage lately, but i just kept it to myself because it’s normal for your energy to ebb and flow as a performer. but WOW, did i not expect that one video to turn into what the dialogue around jennie is now. the genuine criticism towards her, i understand all different sides, but you nailed it with the way she’s coddled by fans. you can’t shield someone from everything because they’ll never grow, and you as a fan will never mature with nuance and critical thinking added onto your perspective of how you see idols and create opinions as a fan. it’s just so awful how everything turned out to this point, and how horrible YG has managed to seemingly exasperate everything by not protecting & managing their artist.
i believe jennie when she talks her health issues and learning about herself, i have no reason not to. but all that is still not an excuse to explain a nearly consistent pattern of not making her performances worth the while that her fans pay for, the same money that helps make her & her members’s paychecks.
anyways, this was a lot, but so we’ll done as always!! really loving this series ♥︎
I hope you talk about jennie with nuance and not trying to attack her over things such as her injuries or the way she dresses or going to partys
This is Cheryl. Of course she’ll be smart about it.
I am not saying she is not inconsistent, she is, but it's really not as bad as some people make it out to be
Having a life doesn't mean you should neglect your work
23:52 Dang, people actually said that? 🤍
that outro line gave me shivers. great line to end on
OMG FINALLY ITS HERE I wanted someone to talk about Jennie and the idol situation because I love Jennie okay she’s my wrecker after rosé so please
Jennie joining the idol wasn’t a problem to me at first I knew it was a very sensual character per say but i didn’t expect the show to be like this even tho I am just a casual listener of the weeknd and I don’t even know what goes around his life as such when I learned that such the storyline was going to be like this(because of sam levinson being in it)I just knew she was gonna get hate because it was pretty obvious but even when she was criticised for her “acting” the fans seem to take it as hate which did rub me off in the wrong way and I kinda just pulled my support of off Jennie for a while
While I sympathise with her after her podcast with dua lipa and how much she has gone through in her idol career it kinda seems like she’s being “oh u hated me for this wait I’ll do it more what u gonna do” way
Coz she knows her fans act like a cult .
They should not be above the law.
i think some knows but their pride dont want them to admit so they trick themselves into doing anything for them 🤔
Fans in effort of defending Jennie from hate, just go and start hating on her members or any other idol who could be called an 'IT girl' in kpop. Neither do they take criticism on Jennie's upsetting stage performances, or her lack of effort in general nor do they consider any other idol as a human being bcoz they want to redirect the undeserved jennie hate on another innocent idol who is just a human being like jennie
And we will continue defending her because no one asked for your opinions. If you don't like her don't pay attention to her.
Blinks posted harassment on the BTS official instagram account, instead.
