I attended a Yei Bi Chei Ceremony in Indian Wells back in 2018. Before the ceremony started, we all gathered in the Hogan and had Mutton stew. Then we could hear the Yei Bi Chei’s begin singing the sacred songs outside. They sang all night, and the patient that needed healing received the sacred songs and prayers while wrapped in a blanket. Throughout the night, many groups of dancers danced sacred dances while the Yei bi chei’s sang. These prayers and songs are so powerful, that cold chills run down your spine. May Dinè culture live on and continue to be passed down through the generations! ❤

@@crypticcryptid Yes sir that is correct. Recording is considered highly disrespectful. The ceremonies are sacred, and are only meant to be witnessed by those in attendance. Prayers are always appreciated by those not in attendance. Recording will get you kicked out, and I have seen it happen before with my own eyes. This is known in most Dinè (Navajo) families, and by Non-Natives who work in the community. What is nice, is that for anyone who has been invited to a traditional ceremony, they should usually be made aware of this.

My favorite part is at the end, the Dawn songs & Bluebird songs sang as the Yei’s depart. I remember hearing those songs & being overcome w/ such emotion at those sacred prayers. I’ll always remember my elders saying to pray & do your offerings as the Yei’s danced into early morning dawn
That was also my favorite part to see them facing the east and the crack of dawn breaking through the clouds. They sung and danced one last time. They went away. Seeing elders wrapped in blankets sprinkle pollen on them. That got me in the feels. Reminded me of my own late grandmother. Im Navajo but dont know alot of my culture. That makes me sad. My uncles know alot but i hardly get to see them. So this channel helps me understand certain things. What's really sad is the ceremonies and traditions being lost and forgotten.

Thanks for sharing. Im Navajo and my grandmother always went to the shiprock ceremony. She passed on. I went this year with my mom and i didnt understand any of it. Just that someone was ill and the dancers danced all night even in the rain and cold sung till the sunrise and people were blessed. It was beautiful and meaningful to me. Why are we told never to eat pinons at the ceremony? The medicine men said not too.
They say don’t eat pinions at YBC because it’ll cause hard weather(heavy snowfalls etc). That’s what I was always told

The corn pollen offering, is what I always wanted to know. I've asked for over 30 years nobody in my family ever had an answer. My family even dances in these neda-akaye. Thank you.

Everyone is in such a rush to get ahold of that ol mighty dollar. Greed has taken over, nobody takes the time to stop * smell the roses anymore. That's why this world's going to he'll in a hand basket. That's just my opinion.

Although its not a popular theory with main stream historians, there are many that believe people could and did make that journey. & our peacekeeping navigation remembering across & around the Moananui a Kiwa / Pacific. It was Kupe’s wife who named New Zealand Aotearoa describing The Long White Cloud over our landmass / islands. What is known as the North Island is traditionally called Te Ika a Māui / Maui’s fish which he caught using a hook fashioned from his grandmother’s enchanted jawbone, a nod to grandmother wisdom & knowledge 🙏🏼🪝🎉
I always felt Changing Woman was going to Hawaii! Maybe she is known by Pacific Islander names. Such as Pele or Hi'iaka. Who had a hand in creating Hawai'i Nei. Her husband is the Sun, who sets in the West.
Ah yes the husband being a representation of the setting sun makes a lot of sense.
