There is an evil that exists. It plagues society. It harms, hurts, hates, and haunts.
For some reason people think they want to know more about it. But they don’t know what they want to know more about. They don’t know the pain that is there.
To protect others our Navajo people avoid even speaking about this. But, people continue to ask.
To clarify and hopefully quench the curiosity… Navajo Historian Wally Brown shares what he feels people need to know and warns against seeking out such things as skinwalkers, demons, and witchcraft.

Before watching this video, I also watched a video by a Greek Orthodox priest who was saying almost the same things as Wally is saying. There are indeed universal truths, and we need to listen to all of our wise teachers.
love how Greeks have SO many similar beliefs to us. My kids grew up with greeks and also went to a greek orthodox private school.....they are Greek speaking navajos(well, part navajos, they have another tribe in their mix too.)

@chuckheppner4384 yes. Really. While there are definitely shared truths amongst the major world religions, it is dangerous to believe that ALL roads basically lead to the same fate. It makes sense that there are lots commonalities connecting us because we are made of the same essence and designed with the same image by our creator. However, would it not also stand to reason that if there really is only one truth, the adversary to "the good/holy One" would create as many diversions or manipulations of that truth?? Think about it. The best and most effective lies and illusions are ones that actually based on elements of truth. Otherwise, they'd hardly be believable. So...same with religions! There will be many things that seem similar, enough for the ignorant to be deluded into religious pluralism....but you have to look VERY hard to recognize the subtle and crafty perversions of truth.

True but that's human nature I get it. Alot of people used God's image for personal gain whether it was for power or lust. But I also know that God and Jesus takes many forms some ways like a early depiction from your elders foresight. Like it's a personal opinion but I believe that most native Americans encounter God on a different level like most tribes achieved full harmony with mother nature. I am very happy they decided to include the Navajo language first. Its important thier culture is preserved and hopefully grows. Its also very interesting to listen to even though I cannot understand.
I so love this man. As a very ethnic Irish American who also was a Christian minister I feel such a connection with what he speaks spirituality and ethnicity for his people.

So many different peoples have passed thru Poland, for thousands of years. Many many traditions. There were different indigenous peoples in the North of America before the "Eskimos" came and rapidly pushed them further and further until there was no place to go. Europeans weren't the first to do that in America. Even here, many indigenous traditions were destroyed by conquests over the years. Not as many or as often as with Poland, though!

You talking about the “pagan” faith or the “old ways”? I get it. I feel ya. I went back to my “old ways” but still trying to learn to trust in that. I really wish that the Natives would teach us to help ourselves.
You give them power with fear and anxiety. We live on a huge mountain in TN, mostly secluded from other people. When we first moved there, we would hear crashing in the woods like something big was always running around. You could tell it had two feet and it sounded huge. One day, me my mom and my brother were walking outside at night, i was in the middle burning sage for cleansing. We heard a roar besides us and my mom and brother had huge claw marks down their backs. That made something click inside of me and i stopped fearing this being, turned and faced the direction of what i now believe firmly was a skinwalker, all i could see was a tall, black silhouette, it looked like it was covered in thick fur but it was too blurry and dark out to see in detail as it was about 75ft away. Without thinking i walked directly towards it with the sage in my hands and screamed leave my family now! It backed up slightly but continued to stand there, extremely errirlie still. My mother and my brother were so scared they were stuck where they were standing. I turned to look at my mom and as i did that whatever this thing was ran directly towards me, i turned back around to face it and thats when i saw its face. It would absolutely petrify anyone else who would have seen it. It had blood red eyes, with wolf/hyena like face, and as i looked directly into its eyes it started smiling, at this time mom and brother started crying, and then my adrenaline started pumping because i thought whatever this thing was (i didn't know at the time) was going to either kill me or severely hurt me, and i remember telling myself, "oh well, if i go down im going down with a fight". I ran directly towards it and i swung the hardest overhand right, and at the same time i prayed to god to give me strength. I can remember its smile immediately turned to a very angry face and when i felt my hand strike its chest (it was too tall for me to reach its face unfortunately) it let out a blood curdling roar and it disappeared. I have not seen/felt anything like it since. I remember this story vividly and i like to think god was with me that day to assist me in standing up to this creature. It took my mom and brother some time to snap back as they were in shock (and my mom thought i would be a goner).
That takes me to what i was originally getting at. I feel firmly that they only feed off of fear, and anxiety and if youre genuinely not afraid and ready to stand up to these, sick, twisted beings and put your foot down that this my land, my family and you will not harm us, you can bring the power within forward to make them leave whether they like it or not.
All of us have the power of god in us, and ever since that day i have worked towards my spiritual strength because next time i see one of these 'skinwalkers' i will do more than just make them leave.
You are absolutely right about our fears. I’m native and when I went out on my first 4 night fast alone deep in the woods, my teacher told me that I could expect to be visited first by whatever I feared the most in life to prepare myself for that test. It would try to make me leave my commitment. As an elder I also passed teachings along to those who sought out knowledge and understandings for themselves.

I'm Plains Cree and was asked by a cop if I saw the centaur after telling him that phantom passengers were a common thing for cops to witness, the fear in his eyes was something else to behold as the average cop has to maintain a professional attitude. It's one thing to hear a relative say such things but hearing it from a cop gave me the chills, that was one of those "OMG that was REAL?" moments where it really starts to sink in. There are a lot of medicine men and women in our tribe, some good and some bad who have directly affected our lives.

What stuck with me was what he said about the evils attacking family even down to its concept. I think we all see the types who are doing such things now. Family > all.
We do see the people that is, the physical beings- who are doing such evil; what we cannot see is the pure evil of the spirit beings who are guiding them.

Such that these beings can be taken down? I feel like these evils are being mythologised and made out to be bigger and more powerful than they really are. I've seen them, and they are small pathetic creatures who use powerful tools that don't belong to them, in order to further their interests. These tools are magical and are used from their world to manipulate this one, so that they keep total control over it. What advice or help could you give about this?

Like I said, I don't need to supercharge anything, that's part of the trickery, to make you think you need some sort of miracle or gimmick or something. Reality, truth, goodness, that's actual power. They're keeping a block in place but it can't hold.

I’m Puerto Rican man from NYC and this old teacher speaks about things that are true today even in my world here. The evil, distractions, demons, obsession to material things it’s all true. I see people acting so crazy in the streets for whatever reasons but I know they weren’t born that way. Evil is real and it’s everywhere. That one teacher who molests students. That one police officer who steals money from evidence and sends people to prison who are innocent. The one family member who tries over and over to get off drugs. Evil is an influence that will never stop and if carrying a cross, a pouch of herbs, a necklace with a special stone or image of a Saint whatever keeps you strong in the path of righteousness use it! Keep it! When a man like this an elder of a tribe dies maybe his spirit is reachable somehow but generations of knowledge and love go with him. Learn from those who are humanitarians people whose knowledge is golden no matter where you come from this knowledge can never be erased from your mind but can be distracted if you lose your way! Be righteous with people not a bully or a demon. Thank you 🙏 for making this video.

When I moved to the Rez with my late husband, I kept asking him what a skinwalker was. Being traditional he would never say. All he said if you keep Goodness in your heart, nothing can hurt you. I eventually I figured it out but I too would never speak of it. Having Navajo kids, I made sure I kept every tradition intact. I don’t take chances with my kids.
I don't understand it to be honest. Why wouldn't you speak about what or who they are? In my opinion it's very important to know these things in detail so you can differentiate the good from the bad. It can save someone's life. Because demons doesn't always show up as something horrible, they often show themselves in light so you could falsely refer to them as an angel or they're shape-shifting into hurt and innocent animals. For me it's very important to name these things from the bad side and to speak about them, so everyone can learn and stay away from these entities
Supposedly if one is nearby and you mention the word it will try to lure you towards it, that's at least what they believed. They never mentioned the name for their own safety

When I was a child about 12 years old, I made friends with 2 other girls close to my age, all of us had strong spiritual gifts so we stuck together, but as we grew up both of them leaned toward witchcraft while I kept to faith in god and knew my identity as a child of god. It got to the point where my friends were summoning demons that appeared as a shadow that followed me home, only appearing out of the corner of my eye, so I went to my mom and admitted that my friends decided to be witches and I had a dark spirit following me now. She was able to help me get rid of it, I cut ties with those friends after that, but its heart breaking that even children can get pulled into the dark side if they dont have a sure knowledge of their identity.

Yes! I have several Navajo friends and have learned these things aren't discussed because of calling it to you. I'm Catholic and have heard exorcists warning people about focusing too much on this or learning anything about the occult or darkness.

I went through a pretty traumatic experience nearly 10 years ago with what he speaks about. I wanted to die, it haunted my every waking moment. I finally come across the right people and over time, I learned how to know my real self! My soul!
I now see how people are puppets to these non physical beings. I either see them in there eyes, feel them in peoples homes or just have a knowing something is feeding on certain people.
Regardless if people believe in them or not, they 100% exist.
I've met one of those beings. It was cartoon-ish. Changed my life forever. There's no way to mentally prepare for seeing, much less communicating, with one of these evil beings.

My own aunt witchcraft me back in 2010
Half my life i was ignorant to this knowledge. I was in abusive and dysfunctional households and environments and no guiding hand or word of wisdom to guide me. It was worn down by the years until i was so weak i was attacked by demons and they turned my life upside down and caused irreversible pain. Casting them out, learning to look to the Creator and look to the Good things, live beautifully, ive watched my life improve drastically and my own thoughts and behavior are becoming more beautiful and good.
I know the evil one. It's why I always notice so much bad when I try to do good. Every good action I do comes with backfires and failings. I used to think it was cool to be the bad guy, but then I grew up, and it seems I have a long way to go to distance myself from it. A lot of bad feelings and instincts that I thought were bad ass but now corrupt my good. I need to work through them if I want to be a real force for good in the world.

I was very fortunate as a kid growing up. My life growing up as a Finnish child I always had Native American friends from the time I started school to this day in my life. Someone has always watched over me. My mother read to us at night the ways of native people and even the horrors of what others did to them. I’ve always remained close to respecting our forest and environment. It’s just natural to me. When he speaks about why they don’t talk about evil things I don’t question it. Somethings I question to have knowledge not to go down that path of evil. My beliefs are very close even in the way I carry myself thorough life to stay close to nature.

You mustn't judge them too harshly. They only are interpreting his message from what they know and through the eyes that can only see what they can interpret. I genuinely don't mean any disrespect to you when I say this, but I was in a relationship with a Sikh woman for 8 years and all her family cared about was materialistic objects like cars etc and they thought that it what makes you a success. They would even be ashamed of their cousin if they drove a Nissan micra.. No disrespect intended, maybe I am wrong but Sikh culture in London went off track ?

It's the same in Martial Arts. Anyone who asks about the Dark practices is looked at with suspicion. Because the teacher is responsible for the student and how the teachings are used.
You don't want to invite them in, but aren't there practices that can protect you in Europe they call them superstitions when you believe in such things.

What I was referring to is how a person expressing interest in learning precise ways to inflict pain and injury on another is viewed as suspicious by those who have that information.

Not only applies to material world …. it’s spiritual/inside …. we are complicit in our own downfall daily ….. ignorance does not equal excuse nor grows forgiveness and patience inside.

In my spiritual days, I used a pendulum to contact my Spirit Guide. I had said a prayer before I used it. I'm part native american on my grandmother's side. Ive heard it said that makes me part of the tribe when I'm decended from the side of the woman. I'm apparently Algonquin and my grandfather was a cheif. I have always tried to have deep respect for the native side of my herritage and never do anything so foolish as to disrespect it.
