- In this video, UrduPoint anchor Danish Hussain has taken us to visit an old historical place at Shorkot which is said to be the remains of a devastated city of 10,000 years A.D. It is also called Bhirr. Some old antique, statues and coins have been found from this place and some people tell mysterious tales about it too. When my grand father come in shorkot 1885 from hoshiar pur india my grand father said this area is big tibba called bhirr near the chanab river and mostly hundoo and poor people lived
their before partion and migrated to india in1947 the hundoos how left this area also left siki wiki ,

Hindus of 18th and 19th centuries were very prosperous and respectable people. The Sial rulers were tolerant of other faiths and protected the Hindus from the radicals and created a healthy environment for sustenance of the region. Peers and Imams would visit household of Hindus on social occasions and vice versa. Hindus gathered people to cultivate lands, started commercial production of milk, organized goat farming, started organized wholesale and retail of food and essential items, were vaids(doctors) house construction materials and owned cottage saw mills, some Hindus were tailors, jewellers, atta chakki owners. In a nutshell they were significant contributors to the local economy and generated lot of employment.
They held administrative appointments as nambardar, tehsildars, havaldars etc.
The above is on the basis of stories told by my ancestors and my inferences.

I am from India. My ancestors lived in and around Shorkot for centuries. I have heard from many elders that following an earthquake 6000 to 7000 years ago, river Sindhu changed its course in upper Sind which led to the destruction of city Arorkot nowadays called Rohri which is 5 km east of old Arorkot. This led to a mass migration of people to Multan and Sandalbar region.
