Super helpful. Indirectness pisses me off because a lot of the time it feels like they are trying to say something negative/offensive but with sugar coating…which is so much more offensive than being direct and honest!
This IRRITATES me. I'm direct. Never rude, just direct. When I encounter people who beat around the bush, it feels like a unilateral attempt to waste my time. That is what offends me the most.
I have been a very direct person in my life, I wasn't aware until now about the term "passive-aggressive people" and this vid opened other new doors as I pondered upon it. The depth of Subconscious fears!
My family is mentally torturing me from my childhood for 25 years. They are always saying things I don't like. They are indirect every time. Daily I get suicidal thoughts. Even when I request them to act good, they are disobeying my words. And because of them, whichever place I visit, people are 24/7 hours indirect and stressing.
My husband is indirect and I'm very direct. My yes is yes and my no is no. I say what I mean, he however doesn't and assumes what I'm saying is very harsh and controlling. I intentionally try to stay gentle, peaceful and beware of my speech, but he still assumes and then acts on his assumption that I'm being harsh, disrespectful and controlling. Any advice on that?
Thank you sir! This is extremely helpful, my family is super indirect and there are times where I can’t catch it but now having a better understanding of the situation and knowing my family’s history of anger, I can see why they are so indirect, this video is going to change my way of responding to it with compassion and confidence! Again thank you!!🙏
Wow. Nice video. Very few videos about these kind of conversational gimmicks. I'm very direct person and my brain is tuned that way. But often people find me rude even if there wasn't any intention. I've also noticed (and made a fool out of myself) indirect conversation is preferred when in a sales meeting as clients don't want to come across as rude by objecting.
I've only just over the last yr started to notice what the behaviour is. My mum's partner acts this way with me , one time I noticed the behaviour,he was acting funny with me ,and so I just called it out "is there a problem" ,he shriveled up and was like "no ,no" and I was like "Good". I didn't care what his response was ,I was gonna say good either way, I just made it known I knew how he was acting. Either that or I will just distance myself so I don't have to be around him, I'll keep it short and simple.
What if you can't figure out what they're trying to say but it's just a constant feeling like they're quietly upset with you for not doing things that are obvious to them but they're afraid of saying it?
What if u ask them “are u trying to say XYZ” and they reply w “Oh no I was just saying ZYX” and u can tell they still not telling the truth but still trying to send u hints
My sister said I need to speak to my mother indirectly; this is to heal any past wounds or misunderstanding. I don't like indirect but I'm here to learn how to talk to her. My mother believes when I talk to her it is threatening and intimidating
The problem for me is that the person refuses to talk to me in general. I know something is up and I ask her what is wrong. She says nothing, she's fine and then slams the door. I'm so done trying to read her mind. Don't expect people to read your mind.
Thanks for this Vid I am braindead to indirect people they say something to me in a passing indirect way and I usually ignore it because it has nothing to do with me. At work my boss said things like X person can't do this because they are scared to learn or they dont want to learn. I blow it off as it has nothing to do with me and I have no idea why I am getting this information. Indirect translation 6 months later when I thought about it. "can you learn how to do this we don't have anyone else" I don't understand why someone in a supervisor role wouldn't act in a more direct way. Update I no longer work their as my hours got cut to never on the schedule.
I can only guess how many times I've been told to do something in an indirect way at work that I just blew off because of a lack of communication skills on either my side or theirs that likely upset my supervisor because he can't communicate to me.
How do you tell someone that the reason you avoid them is because they have terrible breath? I’ve hinted and they don’t get it.. I think it may be more than just a tooth brushing issue.

Excellent video... Being indirect is personally one of my biggest pet peeves. I view it differently now and can handle the situation differently!

I just cut them off if I can. If not then I just keep my contact with them to a minimum for the sake of my mental health and blood pressure lol
Same, sometimes it's just random, and there's no point trying to figure it out.

I just use their energy towards my goals.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

indirect people used to have me MAD!!! I would be like, why don't you just say it. I had to learn how to deal with them.

RUN 🏃♀️ UTS THE ONLY SOLUTION
This drives me mad & is wearing on a relationship that I have. Very upsetting for me when dealing with indirect people.

They're trying to control you. It's called indirect manipulation.
Thank you for your knowledge.
I really appreciate this.

Amazing brother, Gold. Thank you
Thanks for listening

I think it's just as weird to not like hints...
I'll wash your dishes brother. Every day.
