I'm second year in medical school and it feels like I'm barely alive. I haven't gotten out yet. Planning on dropping out soon, but I have no idea how to handle the financial risks of doing so. Still hoping though. Eventually something good will happen...and until that day I'll be humming along to Jake's voice and keep my head up. (sorry for any grammar mistakes)

my dad got me into this song shortly after it came out. i was probably like 7. at the time i was too young to really get the words, but the older i got, and the shittier and more relatable to this song my home life got, the more this song started to resonate with me. from the ages of 15-18 i would sing this song to myself whenever the longing to move out got too overwhelming, to try and remind myself id get there some day. now im sitting in my college dorm listening to this for the first time since i moved out and the words that i have been waiting to say for so long “i got out, i got out, im alive and im here to stay” are finally becoming real. this song really was one of the ones that got me through it all, and it means so much to hear it now. here’s to a new journey and cheers from america ❤️

i'm an old fart, came of age musically at the arse end of the 70's when it felt like the scene, i dunno, said something. This boy reminds me of that time, you can just feel it in the music, it comes from real experience, he's lived it.
