To me, Dash isn’t just a level, it’s Robtop’s statement. It’s him realizing that in between 6 years people have took the same game and advanced it way beyond what he ever could. If it feels like he’s throwing everything at the wall, it’s because he is, and it’s him saying “here’s a whole ton of things you can do now, go nuts.” And when the level says “Geometry Dash” it’s his “yeah, this is the new norm” moment. It’s him going “This is Geometry Dash now, and it’s wild. Enjoy it.” And thank you for coming to my TED talk.
I feel like the ending of Dash is just a set up for Explorers, maybe Dash and Explorers are a connected level and Dash is just the first half of a tower. The deco is kinda similar after all.

IMO, the ending of Dash is a transition to the Tower, where the player will likely go next. This is reinforced by the fact that you seem to start in some kind of forest, then progress into a temple, and then find a secret way (omg geometry dash reference) leading to a... closed room, that you end up opening by counting to 3 backwards. When you finally break the wall, you see the mechanisms behind the temple that end up opening the entrance to the Tower.
I think people complain about the lack of decoration in the second half of the level because it's much less diverse than the first half. While in the intro you have a lot of variety in the textures used for the blocks, in the second half they mostly stay the same. For example in that ship part, the spikes that you have to fly through appear on tall, identical pillars that take up the entire screen. Some more visual diversity would've been welcome, I think. It just looks too gray. There's also basically no ground deco while it was a big part of the start of the level.
Honestly the fact that you made a 40 minute video on a geometry dash level that takes only 1.5 minutes to complete really shows how much you love this level and it's potential. Constructive feedback is always important when it comes to anything, and I personally love how in-depth this video is. Can't wait for the 20 hour video on the Tower blue coins

There is one more hint for the first coin, in the first part before you go into the spider there is a sign pointing right,when you pass it shows a green skull indicating that you have to click on the last block on the block part
18:50 - RobTop probably made the portal look like that because of the shader effect right after. Since the portal looks like flames, the shader effect gives the impression of heat on your camera. But that's still not a reason to hide 4 portals at once....
9:22 yo I agree with almost all in this video to an extent, but I think the 3 arrow speed dash orb is actually REALLY SMART in terms of game design. Since it has become so common in custom levels, I think it sets players up to start on harder levels and even easy demons, which is what the last level of the game should do for its respective update imo. I think it’s a fairly seamless introduction Aswell.

I agree. The problem is that 2.2 has now so many features. So Robtop did a great job trying to show up all of then in one level. But I agree that some parts could be better, but thats normal

What a great video colon!!!! I honestly think this was a perfect mix between criticisms and positive things you like about the level. I know you always think you're being too negative but this was a really good balance. And even though its 42 minutes long, I don't know why but I never felt like it dragged on. And all the bits where you show off whats going on behind the scenes or suggestions for improvements were done really well. Congrats on finishing such a long video, have a nice break after this lol 👍
28:50 I feel like you accidentally made a good suggestion on how to fix the 3rd coin here: Because those blocks were introduced at the beginning of the level as an interactive mechanic (i.e. hit the correct blocks to progress), AND those same blocks in the single screen part lack spikes around the cube’s path of travel, maybe hitting those specific blocks could trigger the 3rd coin instead! It could even allow for visual feedback towards the player, as perhaps hitting the block would light them up or progress the coin into view as you suggested.
I like your idea with the third coin being "reeled in". I think that on top of that, the coin could be fixed from a gameplay perspective if the "chain" that reels it in breaks and drops it if you press too many times, making the part more precise so you don't just spam it. It might still be a little easy but I think it'd be a big improvement from the current difficulty
So, I tried your edited level and this is how it went... I just really felt the part of the yellow and red blocks at the beginning really strange. There is an annoying bug that I'll talk about later on. I started playing this level on my tablet which took me over 80 attempts to get to 97% (I died to bad refresh rate) but there was a bug that while leaving the wave section at the end, I would just randomly die which made me really frustrated considering that I had been trying to beat this level for so long. After trying on my tablet, I switched to my phone and managed to beat it in 9 attempts. So, 9/10 edit because of the bug and some strange parts but overall very good level, highly recommended. Also sry this comment is so long, I guess I became gd colon now 😂
27:42 this happens depending on the headphones/speaker that you're using. If you're using dollar store earphones or your phone speakers then you're almost not gonna hear anything. But if you're using stuff like a good pair of headphones then you can hear and even feel it. I believe this is called sub bass which is the bass you can feel (when incredibly low) but I may be wrong on that
I use Apple EarPods (the little cheap wired earbuds) so I don’t think I would be able to hear much at that part. I hear it with better earbuds tho (these little in-ear things, I mean)

13:18 I think the first coin is fixable. For example, you can add tiny spikes to the red blocks as you said, but not to the coin trigger block. However, the red block that activates the coin should be somewhere in the middle and not at the end of the section. If you hit a red block, the ceiling falls on you. If you hit the coin red block, the ceiling still falls, but a hole opens in the ground and you fall through it and escape (and continue playing down there to get the coin).
Advice from someone that plays this game for 9 years now. Only play level that you find fun. If something is frustrating you to the point it makes you not want to play the game anymore, dont play that level then. This comes from someone that tried to beat hard levels, was too bad for them, got frustrated and stopped playing for months/ years sometimes. Always prioritize fun over anything. Its a cool game and I still play it a lot.

The F block may feel weird for newer players, but a good use for F blocks would be for hold levels where you can use F blocks and put a text saying that you need to hold. Considering the overwhelming amount of new features in 2.2 compared to other updates, I think it's a bit of a shame we didn't get more new levels, ones that would each introduce a few concepts (for example a swing level just like cycles is a ball level, the sideways level etc.) Basically what Subzero did I guess but in the main game

The blue orb was added because there used to be a coin robtop up just before the spider then you launch and flip to normal gravity. Also I love your videos gd colon, you have reason for complaints, and reason to like it and I respect all of your opinions about updates and other complaint and things you adore. You really have common sense.
This is really helpful when trying to make levels myself, like the spike block above the reverse transition or being mindful of colorblindness, and making the level *feel* powerful to play. Thanks!
you've covered all the details really nicely, so here are my additional thoughts on the level - 25:20 there was a strong beat at the end of this section which could've been really impactful in the gameplay but didn't really have any part in it, maybe if the spider had to do one more click and transition straight into the cube portal - 36:13 i think the tower part might be one of the best places for a coin given its layered structure, maybe if one of the spikes was removed from the second floor to let you fall downwards and collect the coin through the hallway you came from, that way it requires some thinking while not just being completely hidden
Also one thing that colon didn't mention (but I though is really cool) is the sign on the pillars of the beginning. The sing it looks very normal with an arrow indicating that go forward, but once you pass the arrow reveals to be a sticker, and what is really behind it, its a skull indicating danger/death. It doesn't bring any 2.2 features i just see it and though "that is really cool"
Quick thing: with the ball part after the *spider* you CAN actually miss the portal in 2 ways, it’s just hard to time and I got it on my first try of it, and was super confused. 1) you stay as a ball and get sent at Mach 10 into your death 2) you get turned into a cube… and also get sent to your death at Mach 10
9:37 Acually you can still miss the portal. You can even go through the cube portal while missing the normal speed portal and end up beating this level in advance (normally in 1 minute and 35 seconds but in 1 minute and 33 seconds in this way).
No one talking about the chapters like "class dismissed" and "TTTTTTHHHHHHHEEEEEE SSPPPPIIIIIDDDDEEERRR part" Btw I love your edited dash level, it's unbelievably good. What a great video colon!!!! I honestly think this was a perfect mix between criticisms and positive things you like about the level. I know you always think you're being too negative but this was a really good balance. And even though its 42 minutes long, I don't know why but I never felt like it dragged on. And all the bits where you show off whats going on behind the scenes or suggestions for improvements were done really well. Congrats on finishing such a long video, have a nice break after this lol 👍

Because those blocks were introduced at the beginning of the level as an interactive mechanic (i.e. hit the correct blocks to progress), AND those same blocks in the single screen part lack spikes around the cube’s path of travel, maybe hitting those specific blocks could trigger the 3rd coin instead!
It could even allow for visual feedback towards the player, as perhaps hitting the block would light them up or progress the coin into view as you suggested.

I like your idea with the third coin being "reeled in". I think that on top of that, the coin could be fixed from a gameplay perspective if the "chain" that reels it in breaks and drops it if you press too many times, making the part more precise so you don't just spam it. It might still be a little easy but I think it'd be a big improvement from the current difficulty
So, I tried your edited level and this is how it went... I just really felt the part of the yellow and red blocks at the beginning really strange. There is an annoying bug that I'll talk about later on. I started playing this level on my tablet which took me over 80 attempts to get to 97% (I died to bad refresh rate) but there was a bug that while leaving the wave section at the end, I would just randomly die which made me really frustrated considering that I had been trying to beat this level for so long. After trying on my tablet, I switched to my phone and managed to beat it in 9 attempts. So, 9/10 edit because of the bug and some strange parts but overall very good level, highly recommended. Also sry this comment is so long, I guess I became gd colon now 😂
27:42 this happens depending on the headphones/speaker that you're using. If you're using dollar store earphones or your phone speakers then you're almost not gonna hear anything. But if you're using stuff like a good pair of headphones then you can hear and even feel it. I believe this is called sub bass which is the bass you can feel (when incredibly low) but I may be wrong on that

13:18 I think the first coin is fixable. For example, you can add tiny spikes to the red blocks as you said, but not to the coin trigger block. However, the red block that activates the coin should be somewhere in the middle and not at the end of the section. If you hit a red block, the ceiling falls on you. If you hit the coin red block, the ceiling still falls, but a hole opens in the ground and you fall through it and escape (and continue playing down there to get the coin).

Advice from someone that plays this game for 9 years now. Only play level that you find fun. If something is frustrating you to the point it makes you not want to play the game anymore, dont play that level then. This comes from someone that tried to beat hard levels, was too bad for them, got frustrated and stopped playing for months/ years sometimes. Always prioritize fun over anything. Its a cool game and I still play it a lot.

The F block may feel weird for newer players, but a good use for F blocks would be for hold levels where you can use F blocks and put a text saying that you need to hold. For the first secret coin, the "4/5 of something" is actually showing the 4 yellow blocks, followed by the red one which you hit to get the coin.
I interpreted as you hit 4 of 5 blocks. That's what it looks like.

Considering the overwhelming amount of new features in 2.2 compared to other updates, I think it's a bit of a shame we didn't get more new levels, ones that would each introduce a few concepts (for example a swing level just like cycles is a ball level, the sideways level etc.) Basically what Subzero did I guess but in the main game

you've covered all the details really nicely, so here are my additional thoughts on the level
- 25:20 there was a strong beat at the end of this section which could've been really impactful in the gameplay but didn't really have any part in it, maybe if the spider had to do one more click and transition straight into the cube portal
- 36:13 i think the tower part might be one of the best places for a coin given its layered structure, maybe if one of the spikes was removed from the second floor to let you fall downwards and collect the coin through the hallway you came from, that way it requires some thinking while not just being completely hidden

i get it being confusing, but in other levels, when you first play the game, you have no idea what gamemodes or orbs do, they just drop you in there.

Also one thing that colon didn't mention (but I though is really cool) is the sign on the pillars of the beginning.
The sing it looks very normal with an arrow indicating that go forward, but once you pass the arrow reveals to be a sticker, and what is really behind it, its a skull indicating danger/death.
It doesn't bring any 2.2 features i just see it and though "that is really cool"

18:17 i think this portal looks like this because it transitions the blue part to the red part BEAUTIFULLY.
Quick thing: with the ball part after the *spider* you CAN actually miss the portal in 2 ways, it’s just hard to time and I got it on my first try of it, and was super confused.
1) you stay as a ball and get sent at Mach 10 into your death
2) you get turned into a cube… and also get sent to your death at Mach 10
i'm pretty sure you can survive at mach 10 and actually continue the level with the music being off-beat
the ball part at 20:20 is my favorite part of the level. the smooth rotation through the tight corridor just feels badass to me on a new level
