I think the main thing is the harmony system in battle restricts the mobility of your army. Its fine for flyers and monsters because they have yin and yang equivalents but very restrictive for melee, ranged and cavalry. If they had the opposite equivalents for them you could make much more armies that focus on battle styles.
@parttimehero8640 try building a Lion doomstack (Jade/ Jet/ Celestial) if you have Yuan Bo's DLC and enough gold. I can normally replenishment enough without the compass bonus, except in the Chaos Wastes.
Grand Cathay has battle design problems for me. Namely, they are a ranged faction whose DLC added only melee units, and they have no healer in the faction besides Miao Ying so their melee line doesn't work well because it cannot be sustained. And Miao Ying has skills to buff ranged rather than melee. The faction is a mess and in an identity crisis.
Perhaps they should add wulfrik over in cathay and increase the chaos settlements above the great bastion. Other than the scripted armies the bastion isn't as useful as it should be.
Honestly i think in terms of reworks all they need is to change the lords blue line skill so that you dont have to invest so much to get replenishment, if a hero has it it would be great ofc but honestly having it on a lord and available in the first section would be fine. In terms of the compass id say it was a big mistake having it be a focus of yuan bo (might make sense lore wise but gameplaywise he doesnt need it) if they hadnt they could have combined the bonuses from his special directions with the excisting ones. In terms of the climate thing i think its fine to expand to unpleasant climate honestly but i do think they should have research for most races that turn diffrent climates suitable, corruption could work the same way but passively. The only rework i honestly want is for the base cathay campaign to be slightly more diffrent, for example Miao Ying having strong landmarks in the bastion that each trigger a invasion etc, allowing Zhao Ming to recruit some ogre units and allow his upgrades to effect them.
legend wasn't "proven wrong" with the leaks. CA delayed this dlc for this long because it very evidently saw it was a bad move to release what they previously wanted to.
I know a couple of factions need a major rework to make them up to date, but I hope CA will take a look at their Ai programming to make them more challenging as the game progresses. Also have them be more proactive on the campaign map because in a lot of areas, it becomes a settlement hop and the Ai tends to allow you to take all their minor settlements and turtle up in major settlement for an extensive period of time.
I definetly agree, Cathay is lacking in some areas, feels way too vanilla. The units arent too interesting either imo. But the sad part is when you start comparing stuff... Bretonia and Norsca are basically forgotten ( i know Norsca will get an update, but what about Horse guys?) High elves have a super dissapointing mechanic when you compare it to tzeench, Alariele special mechanic is giga boring. Many people say dark elves should get an update too, and Slanesh...
Slaanesh is good enough. He\she\they have unique playstyle when you can vassalize any human\elf faction every 10 terns. Like Snickh ''Destroy the faction'' shenanigan but a lot better.
How many DLC's do you think TWW3 needs to be decently finished? Does every race need a rework or are there some that are at a pretty good place in your opinion. I feel like Tomb Kings don't really need that much work to be done but on the other hand it would be cool if CA added some new stuff.
I'll add a little more from myself. It's obvious that there's a limit for what we will get during the remaining lifetime of TWW3. We won't get all named characters from tabletop, we won't get all units from tabletop and not every race will get a rework. That's just something that's not gonna happen. But, looking at a 180 turn that CA made in their approach to making content for TWW3, we can say that there are atleast 2-3 more DLCs coming after a Slaneesh DLC. We all would love Ind and Khuresh to be added as new races but that somewhat unlikely because of GW. What I hope for is a little map rework, increasing a size of Araby and Estalia.
The game will live for as long as the community wants it to live. People will buy dlc for anything they want to make up, so long as it gives a new way to play the game. As for new dlc options: vampires, high elves, cathay, slaanesh, tomb Kings, (technically) skaven, norsca, brettonia and demons of chaos all need a dlc level of attention to both their roster and their campaigns. That's 3 more ToD level DLCs and maybe a new race pack to go. We won't see the end of wh3 for a couple more years at least and don't let burnt out youtubers tell you otherwise
Logically, they will do updates for as long as they think they can make money off them. Obviously there is an end of the road at some point when they run out of good material. Then it's Nagash and end times, which is when you get the tomb lord rework.
@@spanner5940 I hope so much that you're right about this because I am a sucker for all Warhammer Fantasy XD Long live TWW3! I just hope they won't make same mistakes they did with SoC
Here's my view for a decent finish of reworks needed for races. Major Reworks: Kislev, Cathay, Vampire Coast, Tzeentch, Beastmen, High Elves, Slaanesh, Lizardmen, Bretonnia, Norsca Minor Reworks: Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts, Chaos Dwarfs, Warriors of Chaos, Wood Elves, Skaven Legendary Lord Reworks ONLY: Dark Elves, Dwarfs, Empire, ( Volkmar, Markus, Thorek, Belegar ) So basically 3 DLC assuming patches help Tzeentch, Kislev enough: 1 for High Elves, Slaanesh, Dark Elves, 1 for Monkey King + Fire Dragon + Lizardmen and 1 final for Nagash + Skaven + Undead. As for Beastmen? MAYBE if they do a 4th DLC they could do Valten + Beastmen + Norsca
When players expect such a fast paced campaign and complain when a faction can't progress as fast, mechanics like corruption no longer serve their purpose. ANY passive mechanics no longer serve their purpose. Public order and growth will be the next things to go.
Cathay region needs more hostile factions. The next Chaos lord is most likely going to be Dechala who is a multi armed snake tail hindu looking demon since its a unique model. She could be placed around the new Cathay provinces that were recently added. A couple of beastmen and wood elf factions can be placed in the region. Cathay is on easy mode.
With the sages to the terracotta sentinel and both lions as constructs the astromancers should be able to skill into a heal similar to the tomb king hero. Maybe add the lore of life and fire to the alchemists and lore of tempest and maybe shadow or light to the astromancers Also why are there no heroes with access to the dragon lores and the other way around no lords with other lores. I think every main faction should have one fort of the bastion. Not the monkey king.
Cathay needs a rework because Total War needs a rework as a whole. The game is boring in the end game and this is agreed on by everyone who plays the game. The end game IS cathay because you're overpowered as soon as you get rid of the dark elves and Skaven. You will have an economy that rivals end game factions at turn 10ish if you play your cards right and no one can realistically challenge you because you have so much money. You station an army at the bastion and that's ggs for anyone trying to invade there and then you just ambush the vampires or nurgle if he pushes you. Grimgor is the only realistic threat but he gets curb stomped because AI are stupid and they don't play their cards right.
AI should use the sea lanes and dark elves from naggarond should try to invade from the coast in some ways. The best way to kickstart that is to do like TWW2 did : when an ai faction is on the brink of death, it will be confederated 9 times out of 10 by a bigger faction from the same race, forcing you to go at war with said faction. It's a scenario I've had to deal with when i started the game with my very first campaign ever. I played as queek in the southlands (remember, it's w2), I attacked malus in his isles, when he was down to one isl, he got confederated by malekith. As a dumdum i just declared war on him to finish my settlement and then got raided by a gigantic dark elves army. cathay should have the same with lokir through sea lanes.
I think the main thing is the harmony system in battle restricts the mobility of your army. Its fine for flyers and monsters because they have yin and yang equivalents but very restrictive for melee, ranged and cavalry. If they had the opposite equivalents for them you could make much more armies that focus on battle styles.
The Replenishment hero will appear with the next Cathay DLC (Monkey King or Yin-Yin)
Well but having none now is a big disadvantage

well i looked it up in the lore the wizards of the coart ( I guess astromancers then ) craft them and give them life

yeah! make the bastion even more pointless, lovely!
That's why I just play with SFO their reworks are as good if not better than what CA puts out. Their norska one was very solid.
