The late Alan Fudge, who played a detective in this episode, portrayed a wounded patient who thought he was Christ in "Quo Vadis, Captain Chandler?," one of the finest episodes of "M*A*S*H," in 1975.

After all these years and nothing has really changed.

Lots has changed . News print is dying out . People increasingly get their news from the internet and cable television . In my opinion , nonbiased reporting can no longer attract an audience . Every bias is catered to . In this series Lou is adamant that biasing language not be used . I find that is no longer the norm . People want their news to cater to their politics , so they do .

2:45 "If I go blind it'll be your fault". Does that mean what I think?

The Line Up " Can You Hold Them Over Till To Morrow, While I Think About It " Classic. Brilliant Writing.

Jane Rose, the actress who played the elderly woman who fought off intruders with a golf club, died of cancer at 66 eight months after this episode originally aired on Oct. 30, 1978.

Now that I'm 63 I no longer think of 66 as elderly. 😂😂😂

I find it more than a little scary that these issues still exist today. Murders don't get the courage they deserve unless someone catches it on their phone and it goes viral.

why be surprised? what didJesse Jackson tell negroes in 70's?" Go out and multiply". Well, now you see end result.

Mrs. Walker, the old lady with the golf clubs was on Phyllis.
Lou keeps saying the Marla Evans was 30, but the cop said she was 24?!

Yes. I figured the first time he was just guesstimating. But then he says it again after he has the story.

This show is very progressive even by todays standards . Its odd that the Tribune reports the truth without narrative but the show has one , most definitely . There is an emotional tale to be displayed wirh the hard cold facts .
The irony is not lost on me .Although its fair to the Trib putting the Plucky old Lady ahead of the murder . The newspaper has a commitment to " News" meaning heretofore unknown stories . Murder is such a constant that people expect to read about one at least once a week if not daily . To me it shows the balance needed in newspaper reporting . Its a delicate one with sales on side and public trust on the other .

Hard to understand taking another human life. All life is precious. I wish people could see that.

One of the thing I like about the way they portray the press here is that the editors lean hard on neutrality . Thats not the case these days . Newsprint was always our best source of news . Television worries about ad space like News Papers do but there is also the ratings .,.,which put pressure to appeal to certain audience sensibilities more than integrity and nonbiased reporting .Today reporting is full of adjectives and narratives .Its gone on long enough that now a nonbiased news service would fail to meet its market .
