I had to cut out about a minute from the start of the video due to copyright issues. We are only missing most of Ruby and Little's introduction convo. But if you noticed a few lines missing during that scene, that is why.
Lindsey was going through it by this season, even went on IG to talk about going through some suicidal depression around this period, which encouraged her current fitness regiment. Shit was crazy.
Ruby really stole the show this volume. I enjoyed every moment she was on screen. Choosing herself in the finale was such an inspirational moment. And my God, that fight with the Curious Cat. Stunning
Lindsay did REALLY good with Ruby this volume. I really love how she voice Ruby like it was well done. Ruby went through a lot this volume and in the end, she knew who she was and why she's here. This is why I love Ruby, I really love her development in the show and her passion in the show. Ruby will always be my favorite character in this show. Lindsay really killed it this volume.
This arc really put Ruby and her mental health through the ringer. Watching her depression was hard. Making it all the more rewarding when she rose above it in the end.
Ruby voice throughout the whole volume just sounds so mellow tone and sad. You can tell she’s hiding her emotions until the big breakthrough part where she’s sick of everything
Don't let Ruby's revival stop you from remembering that the little fluffball from Volume 1 would kill herself in front of her Team and Jaune 2 years later.
It would be amazing if Volume 10 opens with a group a people being mobbed buy a huge group of Grimm. Possibly including the rest of Team JNPR. Then a huge flash of white light surrounds them. Everyone looks in bewilderment as all the Grimm dissolve or turn to stone. Then the camera pans to show Team RWBY and Jaune standing together with confidence and huge smiles. And Ruby just says, "What did we miss?"
That would be an awesome epic opening scene I would totally watch 100%!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This volume makes you fell so bad for Ruby after everything she’s gone through. It reminds you, yes, she’s a strong huntress with a good heart, but she’s also 16 years old. Truly amazing character development
1:08 i never realized until now but this line is kinda powerful cause ruby didn’t have a problem reassuring her teammate she did all she could, but when it came to reassuring herself she had a lot of trouble with it. as someone who’s felt similar things to ruby this was v real
I loved Ruby this volume. She's a great character but I felt that up until the last couple of volumes, I felt that she had the least character development. She was always so positive but you saw that start to crack since Ironwood's heel turn. In this volume, she was at a low point but she never got the chance to express that due to various reasons. Ruby then goes on to be effectively reborn stronger than ever. I loved her arc this volume ans I thought Lindsay Jones killed it with their voice acting.
I was never one of those people who felt the writing on RWBY was bad though I will say it did suffer from inconsistent quality. One of the biggest issues it had, was that it did not spend enough time with Ruby and how the events of the plot affected her which is pretty bad since she is supposed to be the main protagonist. That said, Volume 9 did a lot to address this, they did a very good job of showing the mental toll of what she has experienced and the burden of leadership have placed on her. This is heightened by the fact that Lindsay's voice acting was nothing short of phenomenal this volume. While I think there is more work to be done Volume 9 did a lot to help give Ruby the attention she needed as a character over the course of 9 solid episodes. Unfortunately, I feel the finale undermined a lot of what the first nine episodes did so well in that it had Ruby go from being actively suicidal to seemingly fully healed emotionally over the course of a few hours. As someone who has had depression most of his life and has not had even a tenth of the trauma that girl has gone through, I can tell you that you never really heal over it. You learn to manage it and live with it as best you can. Even that takes time. I hope going forward, Ruby will still show that she is still hurting from the events and traumatic experiences of the story, though doing a better job to manage the pain in a healthier way. I think Volume 9 really needed at least 1 more episode but it might have been able to use another 2 or even 3 perhaps. I really wish we saw Ruby talk in more detail about what has been troubling her emotionally either with the Blacksmith, Alyx's spirit, or her friends. For example how badly things went at the end of Volume 8 which she and a non-negligible portion of viewers blamed on her plan not being good enough. I think it would have been good for someone to tell that the reason it got so bad was not because of any shortcoming on her part, but Cinder's counter-strategy was frankly a work of art though I hate having to compliment that woman. Another thing I think would have been good for to hear was that if not for her plan, not only would Salem have gotten the staff anyway; she and all of her friends would have died, Cinder would most likely have gotten the power of the Winter Maiden, and the entire civilian populations of both Mantle and Atlas would have been wiped out.
Your last sentence really puts an entirely different perspective into view for me! That definitely should’ve been included in ch6 when WBY were saying that saving the people of Mantle and Atlas had to count for something, but at the same time, maybe they didn’t think of all of what you’re saying due to the rush of everything going on and having to take in a whole new world without even considering that Ruby’s backfired plan saved their own lives?
That is fair. The one thing I want to comment on is that I think it's important to note why exactly Ruby took the "suicide" option. It wasn't necessicarily that she was suicidal. She just felt that she couldn't do anything right and she either needed to be removed from the picture or become someone else entirely. But after seeing the flashback of her mother and learning that not even Summer- her idol- was perfect, she realized nobody needs her to be perfect. She just needs to be the best her that she can be. If she was genuniely suicidal due to depression, I would agree that she got over it too fast. But that wasn't the case. She just felt that she wasn't cutting it and needed to be someone else.
@@SpringGene To be fair to WBY given their professions and the last three or so years of their lives, they probably take their lives being in danger as a given. Add to it the combination of trying to manage their own emotional issues, the fact they had found themselves in a world that can be fairly described as "alien", and that Jaune was even more blatantly unwell, and it is understandable why that did not occur to them and why they missed the very clear signs that Ruby needed help. Not saying it excuses them, but it does make it more understandable
@@ImStrange_ I feel the problem was that the only option Ruby was given to feeling inadequate as she was was to become someone else entirely. She should be herself, but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t change. She needs to develop in the way she goes about situations so she doesn’t make the same mistakes again. Telling her she’s perfectly fine the way she is runs counter to everything that’s happened prior.
@@ImStrange_ The issue for me really is that her mental state at least seemed to improve too much, too quickly. The shift is especially jarring when you consider what a good job the volume had done up to that point with exploring the effects such experiences would have on a person's mental health, especially in episodes 7 and 8 in particular. As for the revelation about her mother I am not sure it should necessarily have had a positive effect on her mental state. To be clear, I suspect that her motive was that she knew whatever she was getting up to was incredibly dangerous and if worst came to worst she wanted to make sure she was not leaving Ruby an orphan and Yang effectively an orphan. That said, the vision showed that Summer Rose lied to Taiyang and went behind his back with his ex-wife who abandoned him and their infant daughter. Given Ruby's mental state, I am not sure that should have had a positive influence on her and certainly not to that extent. Volume 9 for me is a good example of a season that really needed at least one or two more episode to polish develop certain plot points better. I really hope that Volume 10 quickly shows that Ruby (and Jaune) are not "okay" after everything that has happened. Living with the feelings of sadness, anger, fear, guilt, etc. and handling them a healthier way is fine. I just do not want the plot to essentially say they are all better now. That is just not realistic and would be bad writing in my opinion. All that aside I just want to say I love your work on your channel, but I have to wonder...what did Kirby ever do to you? You have been punting the poor little guy off that cliff quite a lot.
Throughout the volume. Every tone of Ruby is so sad, even on the parts for comedy her voice seems so out of place, like she's trying to put herself up. So quiet....... Now I want a video all about the afterens~ lol
Vol 9 is about Ruby struggling to accept penny’s death, atlas gone, bumbleby, etc. Most of these are not really her fault! That’s why I like how ruby chose herself, and ruby is the heart remnant, and the key to stop Salem

Lindsay's acting this volume was nothing short of master class. What an emotional journey for Ruby this volume was.
Lindsey was going through it by this season, even went on IG to talk about going through some suicidal depression around this period, which encouraged her current fitness regiment. Shit was crazy.
Her team never lost their confidence in her but she lost the confidence in herself. This volume was about getting it back.
To be totally truthful, they did speak out a few times but overall, it's correct to say that they never stopped believing in Ruby.
Except that time Yang did in Volume 8.
lol it seems that this is what people misunderstand about this volume
people not realizing this is mainly why they dislike this volume

Spilling her heart speaking about Penny, a friendship that started because she used friend as a slang. Most fated story short of meeting Weiss's eyes.
Glad she has finally got developed now the only thing I want from her is her to master her sliver eyes or at least use them in a fight
Ruby voice throughout the whole volume just sounds so mellow tone and sad. You can tell she’s hiding her emotions until the big breakthrough part where she’s sick of everything
The tones and notes Lindsday went from and to are phenomenal ❤
Ruby's arc this volume is phenomenal! This volume as a whole is so well done! I love it so much.
Seeing Ruby's journey is strangely validating
Every time Ruby speaks, makes me cry 😢. Lindsey, you did a fantastic performance in this season.
Maybe while you're at it, there should be a compilation of every "What are you?" in this Volume?
Don't let Ruby's revival stop you from remembering that the little fluffball from Volume 1 would kill herself in front of her Team and Jaune 2 years later.
Oh how RWBY has gone through many changes and growth we wouldn’t expect. Really did not expect Ruby to commit un-alive this volume.
Ruby sounds adorable with the way she says kitty.

Thank you, Ruby. I love you sweetheart. ❤️🤍🖤💛
Season 9 had so much sweet sweet character growth fuiled by even sweeter suffering.
I love Ruby so much ❤ so glad she's okay
Ruby is so precious this volume 😭
I'm surprised she spoke about the length of a episode
Ruby fell then rose again stronger than ever.
I have to say that I really want a video for only when Little speaks
You shall have it! Once I get through the main five.

Still can’t believe she actually snapped, but other than that, it was amazing seeing her back in action❤
Ruby has fallen, to rise up again.
Like a Phoenix
Lindsay freaking KILLED IT
I hope they don't stop here, and Ruby gets some opportunities to show off her progression in the next volume
Towards the end of the video when red like roses started playing I cried a little bit and happy that ruby's back and better than ever! 😊
