The Rajdoot, also known as the RD, is a two-stroke Yamaha motorcycle made in India by Escorts group from 1983 to 1989.Escorts a far equipment manufacturer figured out the opportunity and brought in the SHL M11 to India in 1962 and renamed it as Escorts Rajdoot 175. People were impressed with riding position, low maintenance and fuel efficiency of Rajdoot and that made it popular among the Indian buyers.

My father had owned one 1973 model bought on 1983. I have learnt riding in 1975 model Yezdi 60 during 1989. But I have taken my 2 wheeler licence in the Rajdoot during 1984. I have rode kilometers and kilometers from Chengannur to Kakki Dam top in Moozhiyar, Chengannur to Idamalayar then to Ernakulam and then back to Chengannur, Chengannur to Trivandrum etc. The trips were during day time as well as night, in sunny days as well as rainy nights. During none of the trips the vehicle had not made any trouble/problems, either engine or tyres or lights. A medium range affordable vehicle of that time and comfort very close to bullet. A safe medium weight vehicle. I still like Rajdoot even though it is not running now.
